It was amazing but, unless you're stopping to pray, you're kinda just in one end and then out the other in about five minutes.
There's only so much to see in a building that's basically a big empty room tbf.

Hagia Sophia was cool doe.

I've been to a lot of old mosques. Don't remember the name of any of them. They are really soothing, mystical places, especially when you have them to all to yourself. Stone pillars, oriental rugs and hundreds of tiny candles or lanterns hanging for the ceiling. It's a great look.

This mosque-talk is so pleasant and laidback.

....

btw, is that Hama-Israel brouhaha still going on?
I wouldn't know... lately I just get all my news from the CC forums.

So these visits are after you've droned the worshippers?

Especially if you go to a big one during prayers, while the call to prayer's still being sung.

tbf a lot of people would probably feel the same visiting a cathedral with a choir and/or organ playing

Meanwhile atheists are just sat at home watching political adverts and feeling angry.

Mysticism and magic (religion...) is a great drug.
Everyone should try it. You know, you don't have to actually believe it, right?

Take your pick, some people like crowds and loud noise.

Also, some people need to practice a particular 'name-brand' religion in a prescribed and orthodox way.

While others can whip up new bespoke deities made in their own images any time they feel like it.

If it's big it won't feel crowded. I'm thinking of the sort of place that has multiple buildings and a plaza. Call to prayer isn't particularly loud either.

I went to Iftar at this mosque a few miles from where I live a couple years back that was just like a run down community center. One story with drywall and linoleum floors. And there were a couple dodgy looking guys in the corner who looked like they were heading out to join the Houthis straight after dinner.

MAGA hate
The Illinois landlord who allegedly stabbed a tenant and her child dozens of times has been charged on Sunday with a first-degree murder and hate crimes.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said in an update Sunday afternoon that Joseph Czuba, 71, who is white, allegedly stabbed the mother and her child due to them being Muslims and the ongoing Hamas-Israel war.

The six-year-old boy was stabbed twenty-six (26) times throughout his body. The knife used in this attack is a twelve-inch serrated military style knife that has a seven-inch blade,” the sheriff’s office said in its update.

The first of three evacuation flights from Israel sent by Governor De Santis for Floridians has arrived safely back in Miami. The other two, with the last of the Floridians, will arrive tomorrow.

Meanwhile, citizens of the other 49 states that haven't been able to make their own arrangements are still waiting as Biden is stranded on a stage somewhere.

The Irish president has today savaged Israel and the European Union's support for Israel, saying Israel's bombing and siege of Gaza has left international humanitarian law 'in tatters' and that EU President von der Layen 'wasn't speaking for Ireland,' when she defended Israel's barbarism:

People who don't study history.

The siege of Gaza is pretty mild compared to many historical sieges.

Oh cool, so regimes have your green light approval to genocide a few million as long as they don't exceed the (recent) historical high of 12 million by Hitler?
More than 2 million people live in Gaza, one of the most densely populated corners of the planet. In the six days since Hamas’ terrorist attacks, Israel says it has dropped 6,000 bombs on Gaza.
