New Map: The Mall [Idea]

Post by antherdayatthofc »

I thought his was a good idea. Go capture the mall. There will be 7 sections: Food Court, Hardware, Clothing, Electronics, Appliences, and Customer services. Give me some feedback on the idea.

It is a good idea...but...

If it is based on a real world mall I would love to play on it but if it was totally made up mall I'd be somehow distanced. I would go to monroville mall in the original Dawn of the Dead movie with lightning speed for instance.

P.S. That movie was awesome even for how old it is.

I actually looked at Mall of America right after I read this post this morning and the size you would need for that is way beyond the limits set by this site's standards.

I kinda want to make it actually just to see what it would be like, maybe for my own play at my dorm. We have huge armies so it could work. I could upload it after and if people like it despite it's massive size, great, if not, also great, I still have a fun map.

I take back what I said maybe you should go with a generic mall style map... cuz' well, if it were a real mall it could cause some problems later.
Or maybe have like a mini mall as a country if ya know what I mean?

I personally support the making of a fictional mall map, primarily because if you get to make it up, it's more interesting for gameplay. Would there be multiple levels? Would the territories be named after real places?

1.Multiple levels might make it too complicated with more than two. :?

2.Two words: Mini Golf.

Uh, pardon me if I missed an obvious reference, but what do you mean? Do you mean there would just be generic names like "fast food?"

If you have the image saved on your computer, upload it to some site like Photobucket. Then they'll give you various hyperlinks to access that image.

All in all it was just another link for the mall.

Seriously, I can't wait to see what you've come up with.

I think as far as shop names go.. Alot of creativity could work out well.. Maybe the names could be humorous, maybe parodies of well known stores..

Every mall I've ever been to from coast to coast has:

1) Hot dog on a stick
2) Victoria's Secret
3) GAP
4) Footlocker

It's true. My mall has all of those except the hot dog on a stick (however, we do have an equivalent.) And I think we're going with general terms as it is (it's a few posts up from here), so you can't directly call it "Footlocker," it's going to be "Sports Shoe Shop." Likewise, "Victoria's Secret" becomes "Lingerie Shop," "Hot-dog-on-a-stick" becomes "Indigestion," etc.

Most of those names are kinda boring..(save indegestion.. that works)..
Maybe like.. "Sexy lingerie".. Or "Sexy underwear".. "Bras and thongs". Not much better... but something along those lines where its not quite as direct as "[product] shop".

There should be department stores scattered throughout the edges of the mall (but not connected), and maybe if you hold all of them you get a bonus.

A similar thing could be done for the little vendors they have in the middle of the walkways, where they sell watches, cell phones, jewelery, and other junk. Not connected, but a bonus for holding all of them.

I agree, thats a good idea(the vendors in the middle of the walkways). As for department stores.. There could be two or three of them on the map.. and make them continents of their own. Divide them into departments.. And they can be connected to the mall.
And to improve flow of the map(rather than confine it to hallways which could work badly) include some outdoors areas too, like a paking lot and a parking garage.. sidewalks outside of the mall.

I agree in retrospect...they are kind of boring and bland. Maybe puns off of well known places? IE, "Burger Queen"?
