PM's to the participating clans contacts this weekend.

Premier Bottom 3:
S&M
LOW
DBD

Second Top 3:
REP
AWOL
RET

So our matches will be:
S&M vs REP
AWOL vs LOW
DBD vs RET
How come you match 6th place in PD with 1st in SD. That's absurd.
Shouldn't it be
Rep v DbD
RET v S&M

Exactly what I was thinking.

However, it was predetermined and posted in the OP.

Do map counts reset for the playoff?

I think the point was you actually play in.

Because PD isnt set, there could be 6 teams or 8 or 7 or whatever. So if REP beats S&M, and there are only 6 teams in PD next year, then REP is in and S&M is out, and vice versa. The only way to fairly to do that is to give REP a shot at them.

Right now, if we beat LOW we move into 7th position, otherwise we are 8 I think...?

So this means that the top 5 clans from this season's PD are guaranteed spots for next year? If S&M wins the promotion/ relegation matchup there is a chance that no clan will be promoted?

Are we going to 3 divisions next year?

Would like to know the answer to this before we finalize our map choices. Can you verify what the rules will be for the playoff?

Promotion & Relegation
Spoiler
The system we will use will work for all possible division sizes. Once the Final standings are determined, a Priority Order will also be determined. List the finishers from top to bottom starting with Premier division 1st place and ending with last place of the bottom division. The bottom 2 of each division (besides the bottom division) drop 2 spots to be below the top 2 finishers of the lower division. This determines our initial Priority Order. Then, at each point in the order where 2 clans that played in different divisions are adjacent, they will play a "Play-off" match to fight for their spot.
For example, consider a league with 14 teams, 2 divisions of 7. Let PX = Premier Division Xth place finisher and SY = Second Division Yth place finisher. P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 S1 S2 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7 Becomes, where the colors show the Play-off matches, P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 S1 S2 P6 P7 S3 S4 S5 S6 S7 P5 v S1 Decides 5/6th Priority S2 v P6 decides 7/8th P7 v S3 decides 9/10
Play-off matches will happen as soon as final standings are decided. Play-off matches will be the same set-up of a standard round, but with a tiebreaker game. The winner of the match gets the higher spot and the loser the lower. The lower clan on the initial priority order of a match is the "challenger". If the Challenger clan chooses not to play the match, the order does not change. If the Challenger clan elects to play, and the higher clan does not, than the Challenger clan wins and they switch in priority order. Once the Play-off matches are complete, we have our Final Priority order to determine division placement for the next Clan League.

Yes.
It seems that this was not addressed in the OP but that was my intention.

The top 5 of PD are guaranteed the top 5 positions in the priority order for next CL season.
The intention was that after this season, we would move to smaller division sizes that would could result in 3 divisions, depending on the number of clans that sign-up.
Yes, it is possible that the premier division next season could be made up entirely of teams that were in the premier division this year.
If that happens, it would be largely b/c of this being a transition year from larger to smaller divisions.

Then there's no point in playing the knockouts is it.

What is done is done.

It was exciting for clan RGV to think we could be 3rd out of 8, in second Division make it to the play-offs and then make it to the Premier division.4th out of 8 not bad :D

I like the idea of play-offs for relegation and delegation. but I think they should be held within divisions.

the bottom 3 clans in the Premier Division square off and only one gets to stay in the Premier Division. the other two drop to Second Division.

so in an 8 clan Premier Division, P6 goes against P7. then P7 v P 8 then P6 v P 8- 2 points for the winner, one point for the tie.
Highest score of the three gets to stay in Premier Division. the other two drop to Second Division..

--
For the second Division the top 3 clans S1, S2 and S3 square off and two make it to the Premier Division,, one stays Second Divisoin.

Or it could be done, 1 up, 1 down

key is play-offs within a division.

p.s. personally I favour 3 divisions, :D

Before we start these knockout games, can we have a discussion about this?
I see nothing in the CAT forum regarding this so my impression is that this wasn't discussed and tought trough.

I think we can see how many clans we have for next PD/SD so we can have a reliable promotion/relegation system.
Don't feel like how it's now is fair for any of the clans involved. (Rep could have an easier matchup. Maybe Awol and Ret wouldn't need to have the wars since we will only have 6 teams in PD etc).

I too would like to see further discussion. We are well into the Cup games and other clans have Random League on top of Cup games. Before adding playoff games (on short notice) to our game load, lets be certain this is appropriate for all those involved.

To clarify what my statment means;
If we have a division of 6 clans, the intention would be to have a double round robin.

3 Divisions, nor the number of teams in each division is set in stone. It depends on how many and who sign up.
We could end up with 2 divisions if not enough sign up.
Even with 3 divisions, a team ahead of you could drop out. Happens regularly.
It's possible for that 3rd match to decide a placement into a 2nd or 3rd division.

All that said, any clan involved may decline to play.
The second team is the challenger. If they decline, they stay where they are. If the challenger wants to play and the higher team elects not to, it will be treated as a forfeit and they will swap placements.

I already posted this above, but here it is again. There was much conversation and a poll where CAT voters were in favor of moving to smaller divisions 10-2.

After reviewing the link I can see there was a discussion. Unfortunately our current clan leaders weren't part of that, but that's our problem, not yours. Is the start date of next Sunday firm, or can we slide that by a week if both clans in a matchup agree to it? Thanks.

Timeline:
By Sunday June 5th at 18:00 CC Time, decide if your clan will participate in the play-off round.
If both clans elect to play, games are due to be created and filled by home team by Thursday June 9th at 18:00 CC Time.
All games must be started by Tuesday June 14th at 18:00 CC Time.

These conversations started over a year ago. This year we only had 16 clans joining CL. Is it really so important to make the divisions smaller than 8 ? Do we really need a third division of 4 clans ? I've played in an ultra small division like that a few years ago, it's not much fun.

I really think this should be revisited in the CAT forum.

The minimum size for a division is 5 per the plan.
