Re: Russian peacekeeping forces enter Ukraine
No doubt the PLA/PLAN will take Taiwan ASAP. They started ramping up after the Afghanistan debacle when they realized no one was in charge in D.C. And they know they have to get it done before non-geriatric government is restored in the U.S. which may end up being well before January 2025 at the current pace of things.
I'd expect it to start with a sustained, cross-straits missile barrage lasting several days relatively soon. The ChiComs don't have the capacity to launch an amphibious assault so they'll just pummel Taiwan into agreeing to become an internally self-governing SAR of the PRC. That way they can also sidestep the remote possibility of a U.S. naval intervention in the event Biden is overthrown next Tuesday.

Can we call that treason? Why not? I mean they certainly didn’t seem to love our country that much.

I just fail to see the reasoning behind supporting Russia. I'm also against in acting the worlds police too under the guise of freedom and liberty. Idk. Weird stance

All we know for sure is that this is gonna ruin Joy Behar's vacay to Italy. Pretty brutal that President Putin didn't even consider that.

The US is aware it did basically the same thing when it organised the overthrow of Ukraine's government in 2014 so it's not willing to get on too high a moral high horse rn.Qwert wrote:Can someone explain to me why US buy every day 600k barrels of oil from Russia ? Re: Russian peacekeeping forces enter Ukraine
1) I don’t under why people are even mentioning VP Kamala in the context of this issue.
As VICE President she has no power or ability to influence the outcome of this event in any way.
(Shit even Joe as President has very limited influence the outcome of this event… so mentioning Kamala is idiotic.)
2) The US has no intention of sending troops or involving itself directly in this conflict.
… from CNN…
3) Comparing this to pre-WW2 Europe and Hitler is lame… the analogy breaks down very quickly. So much is different. Putin is not a real threat to greater Europe the way Hitler was. Putin is a power hungry dictator like Hitler, but that’s where the comparison ends… he’s not insane like Hitler, and Russian human rights abuses pale in comparison to Hitler’s and even are nothing compared to Chinese abuses Right Now.
At the end of the day my life (and the lives of most people in “The West”) is really No Different. It matters not to us wether Ukraine stays as-is or whether Russia annex’s a big chunk of it… and that’s why we will do nothing.

If we want to send Ukraine weapons, and make this some sort of ‘proxy war’ fine… I guess. Maybe it makes sense to make a show and/or make sure Russia pays some “price” for this action. Mostly we will just talk and bluster and “increase sanctions”… which is meaningless in the long run. Most of the talk and bluster from the US Gov’t is just a way of “saving face” to somehow pretend we aren’t impotent in this matter. The that fact is we are impotent here because ultimately NO ONE in the US wants to send American Military to fight directly in a cause that is grey and not likely winnable and not well understood by the American public. Putin of course knows this… and knows we won’t do anything “for reals”… otherwise he wouldn’t have invaded. He’s smart… he knows he can increase his internal prestige and power with very little risk.Biden has also been very clear on another point: US troops will not be sent to Ukraine to take part in the conflict.
As he announced new sanctions on Russia on Thursday, Biden said, "Our forces are not and will not be engaged in the conflict." He added, "Our forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine but to defend our NATO allies and reassure those allies in the east."

Whether or not you’re in the US Infantry… you won’t be doing anything IN Ukraine, so what does this have to do with the topic?

Taiwan is different from Ukraine for a few reasons… the most important is that we (The USA) has actually promised to defend Taiwan. We have no similar promise to Ukraine.
This promise, though idiotic, changes the math.
No US President and very few American citizens would actually want to defend Taiwan with troops and Navy vessels.
… but if China were to invade and we sat it out we would lose serious credibility, and therefore serious power.
China knows the situation is different, which is why they have not already made their move. They’ve been content to play “the long game” for the last 50+ years. The situation is unsustainable… but it also doesn’t HAVE to end in a military conflict. The trick is finding an alternate solution. I don’t pretend to have that answer. Had the transfer of Hong Kong gone better… perhaps that could’ve been a model to us… but things currently don’t look great.
The situation also is different than the Ukraine/Russian situation in that there is no real ethnic squabble involved. In Ukraine their is a perceived ethnic “difference” between Ukrainians and Ethnic Russian Ukrainians. In Ukraine this “difference” has existed for a long time. In Taiwan they all consider themselves Chinese… and mainland Chinese people consider Taiwanese people to be their brothers/sisters. There’s no ethnic conflict there and no desire to just “wipe out” these perceived “others”. (China has other ethnic squabbles… but that’s not a factors in the Taiwan situation.). The Taiwan situation is 100% political.
Re: Russian peacekeeping forces enter Ukraine
I just don't see 190,000 troops being enough to take Ukraine
Ukraine size 603,628 km2 (233,062 sq mi)
Ukraine population 41,000,000

So many say that bombarding Yugoslavia 1999 by NAto against any UN approval and then create new state braking teritorial integrity of other country will open pandora box where all other coutries territorial integrity will mean nothing and where any minority could ceded and create new countries.
US belive that only they have right to invade and create pupet states , its look that things are change now Russia learn from US how to invade and change regimes by force.
And we all know how US created allies in Afghanistan just been abandoned by US, left to be killed by Talibans. Not to mention how many weapons and military equipment left behind.

Gross Domestic Product Russia vs Texas
Texas outpaces Russia when it comes to GDP. Russia’s gross domestic product amounts to about 1.3 trillion, while the Lone Star State’s comes to about 1.7 trillion.

Based on Putin’s threats against Sweden and Finland now too, I’d suggest you sit back and wait; Russian tanks may eventually come thank you for your support in person.
