Avoiding 'special' players in tourneys?
Is it possible to avoid Big Poofs buddies in some games? There are some exceptional tourneys with prospects of interesting and fun games agsinst players on an equal basis, these are rubbished by some members who 'always' get pre-determined games set up for them. I'm not about to mention names just would prefer not play members who cannot be beaten as they have already won before the game starts - cheers.

Unfortunately in tournaments theres no way to avoid people, even on your foe list. If you both join the tournament, you run the possibility of playing vs that player.

I have nothing against these players but it is a fact that so many of their games are over before they start.

I wish I could avoid me too, but I'm out of options here.

The more complex the map the better chance you will have, going on basic maps with odds around 20% you obv have little hope.

Re: Avoiding 'special' players in tourneys?
let me know how this works out I certainly would be happy if I could avoid players that gang up on a players because they have a lower rank in tournaments for any number of reasons.
It sucks when that happens, except when it does happen to me I'm just complaining because I don't know how to play the map.
Thanks for verifying what I've always knew but have always been told I'm just imaging it and am paranoid

Predetermined game set ups? Them blasted mischief elves are at it again. I told them to stay away from CC, but they don't listen.

its long been a problem at CC that games are over before they begin.
and does seem like certain players always get the benefit of the setup/dice.
ADMIN here has their favorites, always have

Re: Avoiding 'special' players in tourneys?
trust me, the admins don't have the time or desire to rig this game in anyone's favour. Even if they did, I highly doubt the coding on the site would allow it. They would have to rewrite much of the code just to be able to play favourites.gannable wrote:its long been a problem at CC that games are over before they begin.

The reality is better players will make better use of the drop, dice, turn order, etc and those advantages will add up to them winning more often.

Re: Avoiding 'special' players in tourneys?
Think of a better player like a casino. Can you beat a casino in a hand of blackjack, of course. But if you play 1,000,000 hands you will surely lose. If you play a better player in one game on a simple map/settings you might win. Play a better player over a 49 game series and unless they are 1% or less better than you, expect to lose.
Re: Avoiding 'special' players in tourneys?
hey i competed and held my own against THOTA. And later teamed with Big Whiskey.
When Emmdizzle was the Conqueror he used myself and ironwood as his triples partners as a ploy for him to get points and maintain his status. And ironwood and i carried the endeavor.
so, I'm not intimidated by anyone. But, ADMIN has been out to get me for a while. I have a hot streak and then I literally can't win a game against anybody.

Re: Avoiding 'special' players in tourneys?
Nonsense. As frustrating as it is, it happens to everyone. I've had those runs too where I just couldn't get a good roll at crucial points. Then right at the end of the game, when it's already all but over, the dice actually start killing things. Too late for me to do anything about the game though. And I do recall it happening across multiple simultaneous games. It sucks, but you have to take the bad with the good. It doesn't happen that often though. Just a fluke of bad luck.gannable wrote: ADMIN here has their favorites, always have
I think it's hilarious that there are people who think they are important or notorious enough to have someone actually bother spending the time to write a whole new set of code to control a specific account or accounts. Trust me, none of you are that special and it will never happen. If they wanted to destroy you, they'd just ban you. It's simpler.
If you think your games are going bad all of the time, then maybe the problem isn't other people. Maybe you need to look at your own strategic decisions. Making mistakes in a game against a better opponent will lead to a loss because they're going to take advantage of that. If one isn't able to recognise the flaws in their own strategies, aka think they are already an excellent player, then they won't improve, or get away from thinking the game is rigged.

those that claim that dice only favour them when the game is already over dont realise how much more difficult it is to implement such a solution.
Edit: somehow deleted Shannon's part I wanted to quote

But, I'm sure you know that there are a few people here on CC that actually believe that mods and admins interfere with people's accounts and have been vocal about it. So when you said it, I was thinking... "Oh no, not another one." Moderators would never be trusted with the access that would allow them to mess with someone's account in the first place, so that mod they dislike couldn't be messing with them. And BW and KA would never have the time for it. A web dev's time is money, so BW would have more to be doing with his free time.

Caymenmew wrote "trust me" , a sure sign of a lie about to be told!! I'm only messing ( as usual ) even though i would not be surprised should an aspect of forementioned accusation be true but who really cares anyway, as for cold fish?? The higher up the CC ladder you go the colder the mods get which makes BW have eyes like a shark but mounted just south of a womens abdomen
