(TPA7)March Through March
This tournament will combine play on many different maps and many different settings. It will test both skill on multiplayer and on 1v1 maps under varying degrees of poly. As such I hope it will be a good test of overall skills on a varied set of terrains and conditions. Each round will count a little more towards total score but all rounds will count throughout. I have chosen the maps of the Western Hemisphere just for consistency and from those I have had to pick and choose. I hope you will find it a fun and challenging tournament. The game load will be 2 games per round. So even if you are slow at finishing your game load should not rise above 3.
This is a TPA MAJOR tournament and scores big points towards your overall TPA standings!
A trip through the maps of the Western Hemisphere. Starting with First Nations,
through the future with Fractured America
Along the way we will use the following maps:
We will playing 13 rounds with 2 rounds on all but the first map.
First Nations America - Round 1
First Nations North America - Round 2, 3
First Nations South America - Round 4, 5
Tribal Warfare: Florida - Round 6,7
13 Colonies - Round 8, 9
American Civil War- Round 10, 11
Fractured America - Round 12, 13
Periodically we will thin the field, as we strive along this quest.
We will be playing 13 rounds with eliminations:
at the end of Round 5, down to 24 players
at the end of Round 7, down to 20 players
at the end of Round 9, down to 16 players
These tournament will be both 4 person games and 1v1 (seeded by the scoreboard).
I will be seeding the 1v1 based on the scoreboard at the time I issue the games. I will not wait for all the games to finish before issuing the next set. When we get down to 3-5 games left I will use the current standings to seed the next games. First plays Last, Second plays Penultimate, etc. Where standings are tied I will use random.org
For example: if 4 people are tied for 1st they will be randomly assigned to the 4 people at the bottom of the scoreboard. Then 5 people tied for 2nd, randomly assigned to the people next to last.
Every round you will play two games, (except the first). The first round each player will play one 4 person game on the 1st map. Then the rest of the rounds each player will play one 4 person game (all 4 person games will be by random.org) and 1v1 seeded as specified above. I have to limit this to premium only, both because of game count and to allow me to make some of the games poly. If due to players dropping we don't have enough to make 4 person games for everyone, then some will be 3 person. Random.org will govern who gets which games.
The game settings will vary for each round.
Auto, Sequential, Fog, 20 Rounds
Odd rounds will be trench.
Rounds 1, 4, 7, 10, 13 will be escalating
Rounds 2, 5, 8, 11 will be flat
Rounds 3, 6, 9, 12 will be no spoils
the same as the 4 person game above and in addition
Rounds 5, 9, 13 will be no poly
Rounds 2, 6, 10 will be poly 2
Rounds 3, 7, 11 will be poly 3
Rounds 4, 8, 12 will be poly 4
All scores will be cumulative. However each round will be weighted more heavily. Winning a round 1 game is 2 points. Winning a round 7 game is 14 points. See the breakout below.
Round 1 the 4 person game will be 2 points for the winner and 1 point for second place. No 1v1 first round.
Round 2 the 4 person game will be 4 points for the winner and 2 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 3 points.
Round 3 the 4 person game will be 6 points for the winner and 3 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 4 points.
Round 4 the 4 person game will be 8 points for the winner and 4 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 6 points.
Round 5 the 4 person game will be 10 points for the winner and 5 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 7 points.
Round 6 the 4 person game will be 12 points for the winner and 6 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 9 points.
Round 7 the 4 person game will be 14 points for the winner and 7 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 10 points.
Round 8 the 4 person game will be 16 points for the winner and 8 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 12 points.
Round 9 the 4 person game will be 18 points for the winner and 9point for second place. The 1v1 will be 14 points.
Round 10 the 4 person game will be 20 points for the winner and 10 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 15 points.
Round 11 the 4 person game will be 22 points for the winner and 11 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 16 points.
Round 12 the 4 person game will be 24 points for the winner and 12 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 18 points.
Round 13 the 4 person game will be 26 points for the winner and 13 point for second place. The 1v1 will be 20 points.
Winning any game on the round limit will cause the points to be added up and divided by the number of players left. Example: Round 4 is won on the round limit. 8+4=12 points left. 2 players still in then both get 6 points. 3 players still then each get 4 points. Rounding will be down to the nearest whole number.
1. Most games won. (Ex: you won 2 of the 1v1 and 1 of the 4 person games, total of 3)
2. Most 4 person games (includes games that only had 3) won.
3. Most 1v1 games won.
4. Most head to head if any.
5. If we go past this then we will carry forward with an extra player, unless this is for the winner, then I will issue 3 games on one of the maps chosen randomly.
Games are expected to be picked up within 24 hours. Sitters should be told they are allowed to accept tournament games.
The organizer has full judgment in each case of a player not joining games.
Because of the complexity and number of people playing it is only fair to the others and to the Organizer that games be picked up in an expedious manner. All game play is 24 hour based and therefore it is not unreasonable to expect games to be accepted within 24 hours. Therefore you will receive one invite and then be dropped.
That said, I am very easy to work with. I will always check my wall and pm's to see if there is something there before I eliminate someone. During one tournament I allowed in one case, 5 days to pick up the games. I was contacted ahead of time and told of the problem (not the details) and the expected duration.
Communication makes all the difference.
