Alcatraz - Worst Idea Ever?
Take a look ... Game 522607 ... The only territory I was left with was Alcatraz . Now I have to either deadbeat (and make everyone wait three days for that to happen) or go in, deploy my three armies, end attack, end fortification.
On top of that, because I got Alcatraz to open the game, I basically am dealt a three-army handicap right from the beginning.
After this round of games, I will never play that map again based solely on Alcatraz.

The worst idea ever was when your mother decided not to strangle you at birth.
Quit whinging about it already; it's only an online Risk Game (which you lost). Just deploy your dudes and forget about it; it takes how long, maybe 2 seconds of your life to do?
Just suck up your loss and move on. For christs sake don't come and bitch about a flavourful aspect of the SanFran map in General Discussion.
Good day to you.

Now you know what its like to get life in prison!
It's a great idea, and one I would like to see expanded upon in future maps (in a way you may find to be more appealing). Johloh and I discussed it briefly a while ago, but nothing has been formulated yet.

While I appreciate the useful information provided by the first three posters, somehow I like your response better sully. Thanks for at least being funny.
I like the rest of the map, but the bonus of holding alcatraz doesn't equal the penalty of not being able to move your armies. If it was left neutral or unoccupied to start the game, I would have no objection to it being a part of the game.

In Game 470497, I had green cornered in Alcatraz... he couldn't do squat. It was awesome.
I think getting stuck on Alcatraz... well that's your own fault. You should have tried harder to win!
No seriously, I think it's cool. Yeah, it would suck being in YOUR particular position, where no-one will kill you off, but it's a cool twist.

Last Territory is Alcatraz !!
I too had a game on San. Fran. and got killed off everywhere but Alcatraz, even built up to 23 armies ( they were killed within 3 turns) but overall it is a good map !! I'll definitely learn from that game but I'll still play the map !!!!!! The Alcatraz idea is good and makes that map unique !!!! vchef69

I was in a great San Francisco game - not just great because I won, but I trapped a guy that had 5 cards and a 65 army bonus to turn in and the only thing he could do was cash in and deploy to Alcatraz and watch as I snipered him from outside while he had a prison riot going on. Just take it in stride...

Glad to see there's still a little pure logic around here.Fireside Poet wrote:hulmey wrote:if you don't like it , dont play it - thats my motto
Just like I'm not a fan of Bed, Bath & Beyond. I don't like what goes on at Bed, Bath & Beyond, so I just don't go to Bed, Bath & Beyond.
