barry bonds

Post by heavycola »

I am just an ignorant brit, but there was a good article in the paper this morning about Barry Bonds - he is closing in on the all-time record but a lot of people think he takes/took steroids. Be interested to see whether there are any diferent opinions. How come he's never tested positive? And wasn't everyone doing steroids in the 90s? Or is he guilty as hell? Does it matter?

He was never tested positive. End of discussion.

Except for the fact that in the 90's MLB warned the players when the tests were, and Barry was found with masking agents, and the test doesn't cover HGH and Barry's personal trainer was great friends with the lead doctor at one of the most creative juice labs in the US.
and yes, almost everyone was doing steroids in the 90's, but it's still cheating.

No doubt he cheated. On top of all that other stuuf, his head grew a billion sizes, his girlfriend found back-cne, and he turned from a doubles hitter with some pop in Pittsburg to a all-or-nothing bomber in SanFransico. CHEATER!

I personally think they should legalise all drugs for use in sports. I don't know about you but I would love to see the 100m in under 5s. We could separate all sports into the normal (amateur) version and the super power pro, where you can be doped up to the nines. We'll see which one is more popular :)

It'll be like formula 1 where the mechanics are as much a part of the sport as the driver. You'd have chemists working day and night for drugs to boost specific parts of a sport. A quick pitstop and another dose of super-steroids sir?

It would be great - admit it.

That being said, it's not legal right now, so Barry cheated.

Sorry, had to.

And he said that one of the other guys stab him with a needle. So he was forced with the roids.

First of all Barry Bonds did test positive for amphetamines.

Second that he gained weight is no proof. People do that as they get older.

Third Go Giants!

What do you think of Pink Floyd? Used banned substances, created fantastic art? Some people need narcotics to enhance their art to the maximum; obviously, the three men with the greatest single-season home-run totals (of course I speak of Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa) required some help to complete their specific forms of expression. Who are we to judge?

It certainly would be.

I think it'd probably take a load of drugs out of 'amateur' sports if they had a competition where you *could* take steroids or whatever. In any case, what the hell's the difference between that and, say, training at altitude? If they allowed steroids it'd probably level the playing field anyway, steroids are bound to be much more affordable than flying over to the Andes.

There is really no doubt that he took steroids. The real question is: How good would he have been had he not taken steroids?

I think he had pretty good mechanics and could have probably been a hall of famer or at least been on the ballot without the juice. He would not have all the home runs that he has accumulated though. The use of steroids just makes his bat speed faster and causes the ball to travel greater distances when he makes contact. It's not like he would have sucked ass without roids...you gotta be pretty good to make it to the majors in the first place. Perhaps he just got on the juice because he wanted the record.

Either way he is a slimy bastard for the way he goes about denying the allegations. He is just a greedy son of a bitch who wants to steal the record from Aaron.

his hat size has gone up three sizes since he joined the majors, that doesn't happen with out some sort of enhancement drug or growth horomone, regardless of that he's a complete jerk, I have absolutley no pity for someone making as much money as he does not accepting the life he chose with the media, fans, and scrutiny he's been under. Barry get over your steroid pumped self

He admitted to "unknowingly" taking performance enhancing drugs while in front of congress. No doubt he knew what he was doing, but for the few idiots who think he was always clean...
