We will need a replacement for leverpuller on Japans team. He seems to have left the site!

We can bring in [player]Zidane - 21[/player]....name is very French....last name could be yoshida to offset any concerns ;)

I think we don't need a new player now when the tournament is almost over but we can reorganise our current players to cover Leverpuller's slots. We have some players who didn't yet reach maximal 3 games, me included. I notified our team captain rousseau72 about this issue, he will make the decision how to handle it.

Each team should be composed of a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12.

Is this limitatiom using of minimum 8 players per a round or per tournament? Japan had 5 players left the site and is currently at 7 players so if limitation of minimum 8 players is per tournament then we have satisfied it but if it is per a round then we need to recruit 8th player for round 17 and for the playoffs.

I think it's important to have the minimum of 8 players going into the semi-finals. And you're free to add anyone you wish who hasn't participated for another team. Country of origin doesn't matter. Regarding the medal requirements, those were removed earlier on because of how many people were leaving the site and/or not wanting to play in the tournament anymore. Someone being added just prior to the playoffs, though, may be pushing that too much. I'm not saying that 100% for sure the new player will not get a medal, but it's something that would have to be discussed.

For those of us who medal hunt...this tournament is not in any way worth the effort. Its hard to maintain interest this long. Kudos to those who have, but yeah...

Someone just asked me a very good question, "what happens if there's a tie in the semi-finals or finals?"
I had never really considered this.

I've added a line to the OP:
The Semi-Finals and finals will also have a 7th game. Trips, no spoils, chained, fog in order to avoid ties.

Hopefully no one has an issue with this. This game will serve as a tie-breaker and will not be counted in the 3 game max per player.

Hi Groovy,

Can you confirm the score system still apply for the semi finals and finals:
  • Win a Doubles: 1 pt
  • Win a Triples: 2 pts
  • Win a Quads: 3 pts

And that the additional trips only acts as a tie breaker (=1 pt)?
(because if it's 2 pts, a tie is still possible :))

Thanks!

Hi. :)

No points for the semi-finals and finals. Just simply a best of 7.

Thanks for letting me know! :)

Okay, so Greece and France will be the two teams advancing to the final showdown.
Sweden/Norway and Japan will be competing against one another to determine 3rd and 4th place.

Same set up as the semi-finals with the 6 games found in all preliminary rounds and the addition of a tie-breaker (no spoils, chained, fog). The winner is the best of the seven, no points.

I'd like to have all games out by Wednesday, May 27th, so team leaders please let me know if you have any changes to your line-ups as soon as you can. Thanks!

Gotta fancy France to take this - they've been amazing all series. Have a great final all who are competing.

A tournament worth its salt to crown the best in a 'World Cup of Risk' can neither be brief nor easy. You do a great disservice to those who worked so hard to see it to the finish (to groovy...eternal respect).

If there was a flaw it was in France not winning. To have been the outstanding team throughout all those rounds - and by a considerable margin - only to lose out in a playoff system to a team that fared no better than 2nd-4th in the season...well that's unfair in my book.

Vive la France!

I do a great disservice by agreeing to your clan-mate that the tournament was too long? Is this a joke

Playoff system is part of every World Cup. If you watch football you surely know that. So claiming that its unfair shows how little you know about Football. Maybe Cricket is better suited for you ;)

This tournament was quite long and I'm incredibly appreciative to everyone who stuck it out and to JPlo64 for giving me the motivation to continue when all I wanted to do was give up after so many people quit. This tourney would never have finished without his inspiration and friendship to help me along.

I'm happy to say it's finally over!

Congratulations to Team Greece who have beaten Team France 4-3 in the finals! =D>

Third place goes to Team Japan who bested Team Sweden/Norway 5-2!

Thank you so much to all who played and helped throughout this tournament.
