Additional Bot Game Maps
Please add more maps for bot game play.
This would benefit the site in several ways. I understand that not everyone plays bot games, and that is fine, but many subscribers do. As far as I can tell, the maps available for bot games has not changed for years, save the Christmas Tree Map that was available for a little while. Many players like the bot games to learn and practice maps. And sometimes it is nice just to play for 15 minutes or so to relax.
Not all players have the ability to play human games all the time. This could be caused by a variety of reasons such as poor internet access, work schedule, travel, etc.
For example, my work requires me to travel about 10 days per month. While travelling and working, I rarely have internet access. Most regular human games take far longer than a week to play so I miss turns. Missing turns is not fair to the other players in the game so I usually avoid them.
I would play speed games but even at my home the internet is extremely sketchy. In fact, this is the second time writing this because when I hit submit, the internet had gone out and it lost it all. Even with bot games I have to reload dozens of times due to timeout errors. I would never make it through a speed game.
Having more maps available for bot game would not adversely a single player but it would greatly enhance the enjoyment many players get from their subscription.
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know why some maps are not available for bot games?
It seems almost as weird as expecting they are reading this forum.

The AI that controls the bots is really primitive. It can't handle the more complicated maps. Can't understand one-way portals, or collection bonuses, or bombardment, or any of a long list of other flourishes that the fancy maps use. So, it's restricted to a curated list of simple maps.
That being said, there are simple maps that people have proposed should be added to the list. Last time I tried to get them approved I got nowhere, but it's been a year, maybe I'll give it another shot. Thanks for reminding me.

Sorry Duke. I was not trying to chase you around. I'll try to remind you on the weekend.

So far they seem to be doing pretty good on ww II western front. One even bombarded the island. So maybe they have been improved.

World 2.0 is pretty simple.

Nope. It's a mystery.

Re: Additional Bot Game Maps
Even if the so-called AI can't handle those maps, I don't see the problem. The bots are not a real challenge on simple maps either anyway.Dukasaur wrote:The AI that controls the bots is really primitive. It can't handle the more complicated maps. Playing bots on more complicated maps would be very useful for learning purpose; how the map works, how the bonuses work, etc.

It will be another year soon...
I guess this poor suggestion has been left to die. Maybe those maps of Egypt are just too tricky for the bots.

Re: Additional Bot Game Maps
Do the Bots really need to understand the Gameboard (map)?
Why not open up all the maps, allowing players to gain a better understanding of the Map?
Bots can't play anyway. Only reason to engage Bot battle is to gain a better understanding of the gameboard.
Free the Bots! Give them access to all maps...no coding required?

It is...yet deceptively nuanced at higher levels. Play a few poly games against me on it and I’ll show you.2dimes wrote:World 2.0 is pretty simple.

Re: Additional Bot Game Maps
You know, I strongly encourage you to play some games with people rather than bots. Like, if there's a map you want to learn, play a doubles with someone who knows it.Wod wrote:Do the Bots really need to understand the Gameboard (map)?

While you are a low rank, now's the time to test out different maps and settings. It's not the time to get precious about your points. Sure, you'll lose some points, but you'll learn so much more from experimenting and growing as a player and will be among the high ranks soon enough.
When I was a noob, I was freemium. I was a captain with way less than 100 games played because I could only play 4 at a time. I left for a year or two, came back, bought premium, started tons of games on all sorts of maps and settings. Went down to stripe rank. But I didn't care, it was fun. I got those points back later, then some.
I even went for the cross map achievement, because why not.
I feel that when someone is asking to play all the maps against bots, they are afraid to experiment. Target the cross-map medal for experimentation purposes hehe. Your current rank is very easy to regain after you've gone wild and learned a few things.

I play bots to relax. You don't have to pay attention. It's like a fidget toy.
As for your offer, I'm not interested in speeding up my journey to becoming a cook currently. I'll try to remember to alert you if I change my mind.
I don't mean it's easy to win on. With lots of space the thing can quickly get difficult to manage. There are just no one way spots or other challenges to trap them.rockfist wrote:It is...yet deceptively nuanced at higher levels. Re: Additional Bot Game Maps
Plus unlike the tech team here taking literally years to get to implementing the most basic of suggestions, bots take their turns very quickly.
I probably won't even live long enough to see such complex maps as Doodle Earth added.

It might behoove the site to upgrade AI.
If CC had every single map available then new people could practice with bots ( as they are not points rated).
Even old timers could take advantage of learning maps quicker that way as you don't have to wait 24 hrs to play!
Just my Humble thought......

"It is said of Muad'dib that once when he saw a weed trying to grow between two rocks, he moved one of the rocks. Later, when the weed was seen to be flourishing, he covered it with the remaining rock. 'That was its fate,' he explained."

Re: Additional Bot Game Maps
Just an FYI...I added my rock because I love doing the Bot Scenarios. So I would definitely love more maps for more Bot Scenarios. The bots are a bit too easy as far as doing regular games against them, but the Bot Scenarios definitely make them more challenging.
Re: Additional Bot Game Maps
beta testers can create their own bot scenarios for testing on the beta site! loutil will add u as a beta tester if u ask him nicely.
