Why can't we have an intl. conv. abt. the N word?
Why can't we be reasonable with intellectual thought?

Re: Why can't we have an intl. conv. abt. the N word?
So it's already out there. It's used in pop culture..rap singers say it black people say it ...and when I say black people, yeah, that's what our society has designated them..TBD if this community would prefer a dark shade of brown or another nomenclature...I digress
The history of race relations is a hot topic (*see spicy). Africans were sold to Europeans by Africans. I will say this again, "black" people enslaved "black" people
"white" people enslaved "white" people as well
you see, slavery is an institution which has been dissolved in first world country's..but,.. is still happening in sweat shops in China/Vietnam... and any other countries which are being exploited because they are poor
Slavery is an economic issue and not a race issue...keep following me....I digress a lot
So back to the US, "black" people sold other "black" people to "white" people (economic). Our white people called black people the N word during slavery which was a terrible time. it was awful in most circumstances. slavery is not natural. Freedom is natural
So, When people say nigga I *shrug* because its common. keep it classy and fun people
I can call you a lot of terrible words from the past due to xenophobia, which is natural
Cruelty is the wrong choice. Be respectful, sassy, and fun. Do no harm
Have fun!

You're saying the N word isn't racist because slavery is in some cases not a racial issue? Or are you arguing you should be allowed to use racist terms on this website? Not following your intl. conv. abt. the N word, and not sure this is the place to have it

Your argument is missing some premisses as the N word is not equivalent to slavery.

Association is not the same as being equivalent. Also, read up on your American history, slavery in the US was indeed racial, sillywhat,me worry? wrote:N word is...ready....wait for it...associated with slavery *balloons fall down*

you're right, association is not the same as being equivalent
It had nothing to do with race. Convenience and ability. African history could have been completely different. Think Egypt, dummy
Re: Why can't we have an intl. conv. abt. the N word?
What does Egypt have to do with the N word? Again, from what I understand of your argument, the N word isn't racist because slavery isn't racist. However, those are not the same thing. Slavery could be racist while the N word is not, visa versa, neither or both. The fact is, a lot of people including the owner of this website believe the N word is racist: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=219889what,me worry? wrote:lanyards wrote:Association is not the same as being equivalent. Now, why should you be able to use the word here?

Re: Why can't we have an intl. conv. abt. the N word?
we did allow it for a short period in a certain part of the forum, provided it was used in context.
It was abused, so now we have a blanket ban on it.
The discussion group on this was open for 6 months about 3 years ago and all avenues discussed and debated. Looks like you missed the train on this one.

Plus, ya know, it's not like it wasn't tried and tested as a word for a few centuries before CC did its own experiment to see if it's racist.
the world is in greater peril from those who tolerate or encourage evil than from those who actually commit it- Albert Einstein

The word itself is not racist
Words are a combination of utterances which CHANGE in meaning as societal thought changes (see vernacular). The N Word will always be associated with white slave owners and an understandably white, prejudice government. The black community has used a variant of this word and it is accepted culturally today as unoffensive

Now, what is the real issue with an accepted utterance we associate with a noun....maliciousness!
ANY WORD can be used in a malicious way
With that said there are historical amplifiers

Not every word can be used, singularly, in a malicious way.
