Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
itake (our captain) is traveling, but we've all discussed internally and prefer option #2 (the only option that doesn't punish teams for doing better!!!!)
Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
Just a reminder: option #2 is the only one that doesn't punish teams for doing well in the first round!

Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
Here are the updated standings. All games from weeks 1-5 are complete and week 6 and 7 each only have one game left. Overall there are only 18 games remaining and Notre Dame is the only team that has finished all its games.
In terms of guaranteed rankings, the Kansas Jayhawks have secured a spot in the top four and will secure a top two seed coming out of this stage with one more win or a loss by Maryland or Kentucky. There is a big jumble in the middle of the standings from 7-14.
On the tanking front, Michigan State is giving the Pitt Panthers a run for their money for last place. Those two teams have secured the 19th and 20th seeds but we need to wait for their last games to complete before assigning final placings.

Only 14 games remain... 7 Week 10 games... 3 Week 9 games... 2 Week 8 games... and 1 game from Week 6 and Week 7
Only 11 of the other 19 Captains (I was hoping my vote would not be needed) voted on the way we should place the Conferences and Option 1 was the favorite with 6 Votes... Wanted it to be official before all games were complete so here is how Teams will be placed in Conferences
Option 1:
Conf A: Teams #1, 5, 9, 13, 17
Conf B: Teams #2, 6, 10, 14, 18
Conf C: Teams #3, 7, 11, 15, 19
Conf D: Teams #4, 8, 12, 16, 20

Cheers guys
Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
Awesome. Looks like we'll win the #1 seed and be rewarded with the most difficult bracket. Proving none of you understand really basic math. (Haha)
No worries. Bring it, #s 5, 9, 13, and 17.
Thanks again for putting on this fun tournament, in all seriousness.

Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
Here are the updated standings as of this morning. There are more games complete here than have officially completed, however, there were at least 2-3 where the winner was very clear based on remaining territories so I made a few assumptions that I hope are safe at this point.
Oregon is going to take their first loss of the season, opening the door for the Terrapins from Maryland to jump into the top spot. Nine teams have completed all of their games in Stage 1 bringing a little bit of clarity to the standings, especially in the middle even though that clarity is a big jumble of teams sitting at an even .500 record. So I guess there isn't much clarity at all.
I am working on updating the standings spreadsheet to reflect the voting of the captains and seed everyone into their proper conferences for Stage 2 so those games can go out as soon as the Stage 1 standings are final.

Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
Our game with Maryland isn't over yet!!! (99% sure they will end up winning it but hey
)
Only 1:36 left on the clock, we're down by 12 but the referee's are are admitting to making some horrible calls and no-calls in the game and might give us a re-do
The Ref's missed mdhill stepping out of bounds in the first half right before drilling a 3... craigv has been traveling all game and getting away with it... and elddir has been hacking the crap out of me every time I drive to the basket and the Ref's have been letting it go half the time.
It's rigged I tell you!!!

I am confident what you say is true because elddir is the biggest hack out of all of us.

Only 1 more active game before the real MADNESS Begins!!!
Re: Conquer Madness!!! (FULL/ONGOING)
The last game impacted a bunch of other placements and how much tiebreaking would need to be done in the teams at 5-5 but we finally figured it out. Below are the final standings.
For the tiebreakers, We used head to head where applicable (thus Maryland taking first over my Ducks ) Where head to head didn't apply, We used best home record.
For the 6 teams tied at 5-5, We put them all into a separate table showing only head to head games played among those 6 teams and sorted them by win % since some played only two games against those teams while others played up to 6 in that group. UNLV was the only one undefeated within that group, so they took 7th, Duke went 3-3 in that group , but was the only other team to win 3 games within that group so they were in 8th. 9th went to Illinois with the next highest number of wins (2). Northern Illinois and South Carolina had one win and one loss each, but NIU had a better home record moving them into 10th and SC into 11th. Syracuse was 1-2 and landed in 12th and Princeton 0-2 in that grouping in 13th.
The only remaining tie was 16-18th place. Those three teams only shared one game (Grand Valley St. over Northwestern) for which We put Grand Valley in 16th, followed by TCU in 17th and Northwestern in 18th (decided by coin flip)
Here's the seeding for the Conference Stage....
1. Maryland Terrapins 9-1
2. Oregon Ducks 9-1
3. Kansas Jayhawks 8-2
4. Ohio State Buckeyes 7-3
5. N.C. St. Wolfpack 6-4
6. Kentucky Wildcats 6-4
7. UNLV Runnin’ Rebels 5-5
8. Duke Blue Devils 5-5
9. Illinois Fighting Illini 5-5
10. Northern Illinois Huskies 5-5
11. South Carolina Gamecocks 5-5
12. Syracuse Orange 5-5
13. Princeton Tigers 5-5
14. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 4-6
15. Missouri Tigers 4-6
16. Grand Valley State Lakers 3-7
17. TCU Horned Frogs 3-7(coin flip)
18. Northwestern Wildcats 3-7(coin flip)
19. Michigan St. Spartans
20. Pitt. Panthers
Conference A: Maryland, NC St, Illinois, Princeton, TCU
Conference B: Oregon, Kentucky, N. Illinois, Notre Dame, Northwestern
Conference C: Kansas, UNLV, South Carolina, Missouri, Michigan St.
Conference D: Ohio St, Duke, Syracuse, Grand Valley St, Pitt
Conference game invites will be going out tonight or tomorrow. Good Luck Everyone!!!
