Why do you play Risk?

What drives everyone to play Risk? What is it that sucked you in so deep that you can't pull yourself back out? :wink:

For me it's the fact that it makes you think. Not only about what moves you're going to make now and in the future, but what possible moves your opponent can and is going to make.

And the fact that I'm competitive and love to win

That wasn't the question, please don't post just for the sake of posting. We all know you love to spam. What I'm interested in knowing is why a person plays Risk.

I've decided to do a presentation on strategic games and more specifically on Risk - I couldn't give a flying fk if my classmates find it boring - and I want to get other people's perspectives on why they play.

And the talk can only go for four minutes, so what do you think are the most important points to cover? The game options or the strategies?

you should make sure to cover the rules adequately so everyone understands...otherwise you'll lose them when you talk about strategy.

Well, I love games of pretty much any type that take strategy of any sort. Risk falls right into that category.

First and foremost I play it because it's fun! Risk often requires usage of wit and diplomacy and I found that CC is the best place online to play it. It has great map artists that keep coming up with cool stuff, nice players to meet, talk and play with. With a simple, yet efficient user interface which makes the gaming experience pleasant (Except of course, with the recently rare occasions of deadbeating).

So basically in one sentence, Risk is a fun strategy game and CC is a great place to play it.

Ok I feel like a CC commercial now :oops:

I like the combined aspecs of strategy and luck. and the fact that the point is to take over the world.
