What's the definition of active? Meaning, if a player hasn't played a game in 30 days but logs in and is waiting patiently for games to fill and reading forums going to get games dropped?

I'm sure it's a low % of people but true inactivity for 30+ days and not logging in etc I would support

I think that is a fair point Ice. Is there a way that the two can be distinguished for the sake of coding?

Continuing on this thought, if we code it to auto drop due to inactivity, it may create a cycle where if an inactive player tries to join a game, then they would be dropped immediately due to the code. That would make it very difficult for inactive players to become active again. CRAP!

Is there a way around this?

Joining a game = activity :)

In my initial suggestion, I wanted that players that haven't logged in since months automatically drop their waiting games.
As long as someone log in, I think he should be consider active and not drop any games.

If it can coded that way sure. I think currently, the idea is making the auto drop the same as the feature used to remove inactive players from the scoreboard. My understanding is that you are dropped from the scoreboard if you are not active in a game for longer then a month. Is that the case, or am I confused?

You are correct concerning scoreboard inactivity ( as far as I know).
I think CC is able to know if someone logged in or not within a month, and therefore it shouldn't be a problem to code the auto drop based on that. But I am not a programmer.

should we announce this on the announcements? The "site" rarely ever gives mods or BW credit for implementing suggestions or improving the site. This would be some thing nice to share, I think.

This improvement is such a no-brainer. The fact that the admins are stonewalling and sitting makes me suspect that CC completely lacks effective leadership. Make this change NOW.

So what, big deal. That happened barely 24 hours before and was not well-publicized. Before that, the idea sat around for literally years. Having it finally done is good, but it doesn't completely excuse the almost interminable delay. Now let's see how long it akes for he 'most Improved Medal' changes to be implemented. Or alreay existent rules to be incorporated onto the main rule page sot that players ACTUALLY WILL be able to know about them.

Actually, the fact that has still not been well-publicized is another example of insider trickery. PMs should be sent out to the entire membership with each change in rules or policy.
