Re: ATP Open Australia Random Doubles [RESCUED]
[player]Gmq[/player] has missed his invites. I've re-sent them pro forma, but I see he hasn't been online since New Years, so I'm worried that we may be losing him.

Has not been online since January 1st.

I will try one last invite, just in case he was on a 1-week trip after New Year's. He's come this far, may as well give him the extra chance. If this fails I will replace him.

Just want to thank you again for the rescue. It's probably harder than starting a tourney from scratch.

Okay, so the point of the above exercise is this:
The iAmCaffeine/gmq team has lost an essential component (gmq). Now, the original tournament didn't include any provision for replacement of lost members, and if this had happened between rounds I probably would have just let the team forfeit. However, it seemed rather cheesy to let the team forfeit in the middle of a winning round, so I decided I would do a replacement.
The first list above are all the players eliminated first round, the second list is the first list with players no longer active on the site removed, and the third list is the same list randomized. (I first rolled a D20 to determine the number of times the list would be randomized.)
Desperado1961 will be invited in place of gmq. If he accepts, well enough. If not, we go down the list.
To be fair to the other team, I have assessed the new team a 1-game penalty. Thus, one game has been randomly deleted and the M V 3/Edicus_Rex team have been credited with one win in the second set. I also will not change the settings matrix until the end of the set.

Looks like you're leading your current set against these guys, 4-2. Two more invites on their way for you, later tonight if I can find the time, but within a few days for sure.
You lost your first set against these guys, so assuming you win this one, there will be a third set.

I will also not redo the settings matrix until the end of the set.
Looks like Caff lost another partner. No point in assessing another penalty, it's hard enough changing partners twice.
I've randomized the remaining list of eligibles, I'll just start at the top and work my way down.

The thread is indeed confusing, but the core of it is in the main rescue post. (For updates visit this post.) I re-post that link regularly; if you always follow it back to the main post you'll see everything that has happened (with links to the individual matches).
In a nutshell:
These two teams have finished their Quarter-final matches and are ready for the Semi-final:
- SkyMonkey6/Bentelbow. Details here
- Dusty21/dan the general. Details here
These four teams are still locked in their Quarter-final matches:
- Madmom/lawz vs. Big Jumbo/ironsij. Details here
- M V 3/Edicus vs. Caffeine/Bobby. Two games still active in 3rd set. Details here
The winner of the Madmom/lawz vs. Big Jumbo/ironsij match will be facing the Bentelbow team.
The winner of M V 3/Edicus vs. Caffeine/Bobby will be facing Dusty and Dan.
