[Clan Contest] Clans: Our Stories (due Dec 31st)
Greetings!
The clan area is set to celebrate a big milestone next year, 10 Years!
2007 marked the first "official" year that results were tracked for clans / clan wars.
2017 will mark 10 years that clans have been battling for supremacy.
Whether you started last week, or 10 years ago and one of the original clan voices, I would love to hear from you!
Please, if you are in touch with some "old clan mates" who no longer frequent the site, please consider sharing this with them.
We would love to hear from some of the older members of the clan scene and hear about some of the "good ol' days", as well
as current events and they may not see this announcement in the forums. If you have access to them via Skype, email, text messaging,
telegram, morse code, smoke signals - whatever method you have - I ask that you please kindly consider sharing so we can really
have a good response and turn out for this event. The more that participate, the better this will make it for everyone whos ever
been a clan fan to enjoy.
In order for entry into this contest, you must write a short story, or piece, or even just a paragraph (depending on the story)
about something that stands out to you about your "clan life". This is extremely open ended, you can write about some
war way back in the day that you think of fondly, some very contenious moment and how you and your fellow mates reacted,
some good or bad experience with another clan, something to do with a past or present clan director, ANYTHING.
It can be a story, a memory, a paragraph, a poem, a video, a meme, you name it, I'll take it. Nostalgic or current, we are interested in it.
As long as its clan related, and you think it might be an interesting read, please consider writing something.
Articles may or may not get published in the Platoon Report throughout 2017.
Rules
1. All official entries must be submitted via PM to [player]IcePack[/player]
2. All official entries must be clan related, though the scope is very broad so unless you are writing about mcdonalds, your entry will probably count. (Unless its a funny story about how you were doing clan games at mcdonalds and something funny happened, then its ok).
3. All entries must be submitted by Dec 23rd, 2016 @ 23:59 CCT
4. By submitting an entry, you give IcePack & the Clan Department authorization to republish in full or in part in the Quarterly Platoon Reports, or be quoted in the future as a teaser on Conquer Club's Facebook Page, etc.
5. Prior to any edits or cropping of stories etc and publishing, IcePack / the Clan Department will contact you for permission to edit the stories whether it be for readability, length, etc. Without your permission, it will be used as submitted (unless a funny line or two is used as a teaser, of course).
Prizes
1. Prizes will grow based on number of entries to this contest (that meet the eligibility criteria)
2. The winner, regardless of number of entries is guarenteed at least 3,500 Credits
3. I, IcePack, will try my very best to set aside sufficient credits to personnally ensure that every person who submits an official entry will receive some credits as a prize. If we have overwhelming turn out, instead of lowering the prize I will try to spread payment of prizes to a "as published" schedule in lieu of all being awarded at one time, if necessary. But every effort will be made to thank those who participate in this.
4. Minimum Prize for an eligible entry will be 100 credits, though I will strive to provide more.
5. The main prize for everyone, will be getting to enjoy some memories of stories we all share in the platoon reports throughout all of 2017.
Thanks for taking the time to read, thanks in advance for participating, and special thanks to everyone who chooses to share this with friends or past clan mates who may or may not still be around in order to really get some great participation and entries into this for all of us to enjoy.
Cheers,
IcePack & the Clan Department

Anyone can write in, feel free to submit something pro KORT
Though I hope with the submissions the focus can be from a fun read / perspective and minimize the drama element. Supposed to be a fun celebration of all the time we as clan members have spent and memories formed etc

Don't forget to submit your stories, tell your friends.
If an ex player refers you as the one who passed on this contest to them so they submit a story, ill consider getting both of you some credits etc

Re: [Clan Contest] Clans: Our Stories
No rush, the deadline isn't changing. Just asking if anyone else plans to submit so I know who to check w after the deadline passes if they haven't submitted.
Plus the question bumps the thread so others who haven't noticed it yet might see it

The intent is to publish all, unless for some reason it just totally missed the mark of what we are looking for.
They might not be published in the Jan edition but the plan is to publish all in the 4 quarterly editions.
Right now we have a few submissions but it won't be a concern for awhile. And even when it / if it does it'll be a good problem for me to have

CC1? Very few around to tell it from a first hand account though. And I'd wager those that are are mostly the mature sort that wouldn't want to. Water under the bridge.
To go further ahead and tell the story of CC3 you'd have to touch at it. It is the background. The canvas that holds the paint to one of CC's greatest wars and rivalries.
If I find the time i WILL write about CC3. But because of the above I will most likely write about it from my perspective. The pressure, the stress, the atmosphere. And not focus on the historical details that every one knows, and there is little reason to go over again.
I played one of the first browser games on the net (Utopia), the first big one, netting 130,000 players before 2000. You played in Kingdoms of 25, banded together in alliances of tens of kingdoms, and the intensity into which people poured themselves into that game in it's heyday would most likely not be rivalled until World of Warcraft .
When Kingdoms went to war you had 25 people spanning the globe setting their alarms at all hours of the night to do their thing. When alliances went to war... well
Players spent a LOT of their free time on IRC, in multiple channels that were busy 24/7. It was an atmosphere that was quite unique.
That said. CC3 was special. All that history, all that tension, funnelled into that one semi-final.
The pressure of knowing that one mistake could cost a game, which would cost the war, which would cost the season. And at that point in time, a lot more than "simply a season".
Glad I was around for that perpetual heartattack
Would be damn interesting to hear an insiders view of the rise and fall of Pack. Or Thota for that matter. Or any of a thousand different stories that could be told of Kort.
In fact. I'm sure this will be damn interesting reading whatever the source and subject.
Edit: Edited "CC2?" to "CC1?" wasn't thinking straight there.

Thanks Aram! That's the goal, we'll need some more participation to hit that objective but you pretty much nailed the vision of what I hoped to accomplish with this, especially if even a handful of people are able to drag a few "oldies" out of the wood works to give some info on stuff like thota etc as you hinted at

Feel free to submit something too
Remember guys, it doesn't have to be some 10 page book report. It can be just a few sentences, a paragraph or two, or even just a link / quote of something. A quick memory, whatever

Re: [Clan Contest] Clans: Our Stories
Just another reminder, if you have a min or two this weekend why not submit a story?
For those who submit a story by Sunday, when I issue prizes I'll give everyone who got it in early a 50/50 shot to double their prize.

I just submitted The Rise and Fall of the Agents of Chaos to IcePack. Not sure it's what he's looking for, but whatever.
Also, I'm collecting info to hopefully submit something on The Merger to End All Mergers: The hidden story of the Agents of the Chaotic Empire.
