I would be other, don't know any real candidates.
Nice, real candidate or are you going for a cool write in?
Re: American POTUS election 2016.
I'm voting for Gary Johnson. Not because I really believe in him as a candidate, but because I do like him better than either of the main party candidates, and because I'd love to see a viable third party rise up. And overall, the Libertarian platform is more in line with my beliefs - fiscally conservative while socially liberal.

I'd vote Clinton. Johnson has always seemed like a cop out vote for the internet generation, much like Libertarianism as a whole. Sounds fine in theory, but has little life in practice. Any third party needs to start from grassroots. Local government, then state, then national. Libertarians don't really have the support, or will, to work that way.
Plus Johnson always looks like a deer in headlights whenever he gets asked even a moderately difficult question. If he's the best the party can do, using your vote for him seems almost irresponsible.

+1, especially that last point.
FWIW, I voted for Bernie in the Dem primary, and I'm voting for Clinton tomorrow, because she's the best candidate there is. She's adopted a lot of the positions Bernie fought for, and she has the experience and know-how to get a good deal of it done, Republican obstruction notwithstanding.
Trump is tremendously unqualified and unfit for the office in too many ways to count, Johnson has no foreign policy experience - and is too fiscally conservative for my taste, and Stein panders to pseudoscience and knows less than Johnson about policy - foreign and domestic.

Not to much difference...THE BEFORE MENTION "UNQUALIFIED" SOME OF THE BEST POTUS EVER...

Re: American POTUS election 2016.
I'm not an American and my opinion is irrelevant. But, you asked, so I'll give it to you....
If I was an American I would vote for Gary Johnson. Not that I like him very much, or that I think he's better than sliced bread, but I do agree with the Libertarian platform to a greater degree than the others.
@sempai: Yeah, Johnson's knowledge of world affairs is rather sparse, to put it nicely. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that most of the U.S.A.s foreign woes stem from trying to maintain its empire and dictate to other countries what they should and shouldn't do. People used to love the U.S. It used to be everybody's role model. Then it decided to be the Godfather and rule the world. Since then, its enemies have multiplied and will continue to multiply. Stop thinking you can solve the world's problems, stick to "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations -- entangling alliances with none" and you really don't need to know the details of what is happening in every corner of everybody else's country.
Now, let's say that I absolutely had to make a choice between Trump and Clinton. Let's pose the hypothetical situation where no third parties exist, refusing to vote or spoiling my ballot is impossible, and I simply do have to decide between the two front-runners. In that instance, with considerable nausea, I think I would vote for Trump as (marginally) the lesser of two evils.
Trump is a kleptomaniac and an egomaniac. He wants to rob people blind and have them tremble at his name. Well, that blows, sure enough. On the other hand, Clinton represents the military-industrial complex, and she want a full-scale resumption of the Cold War. I think American can survive being ripped off by Trump. It's only money, you can always make more. But I'm not sure we can survive another Cold War. We came close to World War Three many times, and pulled back from the brink so close, so close, so close. You don't get an infinite number of chances. At some point the Failsafe point will get breached.
I don't want to minimize how terrible a Trump presidency will be. He will be the American answer to Kim Jong-Il, renaming things after himself, prancing about with a retinue of tens of thousands, building statues to himself while the people starve. Still, all those things are not quite as bad as roasting in a thermonuclear holocaust, and I think a Clinton presidency could bring us to the brink of World War III. At the very least, it will continue the policy of destabilizing the Middle East and create a new generation of jihadists to trouble the world.

Re: American POTUS election 2016.
We tried that, and it worked out pretty well for us - until we got dragged into World Wars I and II. After helping Europe put itself back together, we decided it would be a good idea to stop the Soviets from taking over the world - and I don't remember Europe complaining. Maybe we went (/are going) a bit overboard in other places, but we can at least say our intentions were (and are) noble.Dukasaur wrote:[...]Stop thinking you [the US] can solve the world's problems, stick to "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations -- entangling alliances with none" and you really don't need to know the details of what is happening in every corner of everybody else's country.
Also, to think you can preserve peace without knowing details of other countries (who's building nukes, who's starving their people, who's plotting to take over the world, etc.) is a bit idealist.
It's not only money. Trump has promised to decimate the already patchwork American healthcare system and to cut taxes for the wealthy at the expense of workers. He has promised to legitimize persecution of women, Muslims, African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, the LGBTQ community, and people with disabilities, among others. He has also refused to promise to protect the nations of Europe from Russian aggression.Dukasaur wrote:Trump is a kleptomaniac and an egomaniac. No, Clinton does not want that - Putin does. Clinton would have the US fight against Russia - Trump would have us stay out of it and allow Putin to take over the world. I may be exaggerating, but you get the idea.Dukasaur wrote:On the other hand, Clinton represents the military-industrial complex, and she want a full-scale resumption of the Cold War.
He would also betray the ideals of inclusion and tolerance for which America has been known for over a century, and set race and gender relations back at least 50 years.Dukasaur wrote:I don't want to minimize how terrible a Trump presidency will be. He will be the American answer to Kim Jong-Il, renaming things after himself, prancing about with a retinue of tens of thousands, building statues to himself while the people starve.
And Trump's "bomb[ing] the hell out of ISIS" wouldn't?Dukasaur wrote:At the very least, [a Clinton presidency] will continue the policy of destabilizing the Middle East and create a new generation of jihadists to trouble the world.
I understand your concerns, Dukasaur, but your judgement is flawed here.

Sempai, you have it all wrong. Politicians lie. Everything Trump has said he would do won't happen and everything Hilary has said she would do won't happen. You need to pick the opposite of campaigns to have any chance of making an educated vote.
Either way, Happy Election Day!!!

In all seriousness, though, that's not true, and people should know that.
Anything less would have been an insult to our intelligence and to the importance of the matter at hand. Agree to disagree we will, then. Thank you.Dukasaur wrote:Good, thoughtful response sempai. I disagree with some particulars, but we can leave it at that. Good luck to your team today.

Yes, in more ways than one.
A few points to consider:
- The guy Germany elected belonged to the National Socialist Party.
- The Democratic party was the party of White Southern Slave Owners.
- Hillary Clinton wanted a drone strike on Jullian Assange.
- Worked with party leaders to rig the whole nomination process in spite of the popular support for Bernie Sanders
- And claims by doing the exact same things that has brought healthcare to the point of near collapse and the worst labor participation rate in history that the nation will become perfect
Yes, what could possibly go wrong?
Just say no to Progressivism / Socialism / Communism.
And frankly, Europe, you have been a pain in our asses ever since you came here in the first place.
Things were so much better when we lived under the Constitution (of the Iroquois Confederacy).

And though I do like to read what people think, the purpose here was to get a secret ballot feel, for who the conquer club Americans and Others would vote in.
I wanted to see if it would be this close or if there was a larger gap.
I would wager on a third Clinton term.

this is very scary, coming from a state that could flip for TRUMP. a vote for johnson is a wasted vote. this is all i have to say about him (watch it, it is short):
i truly hope you did not waste your vote in a pivotal state with so much on the table during this election. you are better than that... the black jesus has spoken...-Jésus noir

Bernie has, however reluctantly, thrown his support behind Hillary and rigged primary or no, she has adopted many of his policy positions.
I will concede your point re: healthcare, but the labor participation rate was worse than it is now as recently as 1978, and it started declining when the Great Recession hit - before Obama took office - thanks to the Bush 43 policy of deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy - which Trump, of course, wants to continue.tzor wrote:And [Hillary] claims by doing the exact same things that has brought healthcare to the point of near collapse and the worst labor participation rate in history that the nation will become perfect
Sure, let's go back to the good old days of 60-hour work weeks, child labor, routine work-related deaths, corporate monopolies, and having to buy everything you needed from the company store, when women couldn't vote and African-Americans were lucky to be considered people.tzor wrote:Just say no to Progressivism / Socialism / Communism.
