remove panels

Post by stangboy »

Hi, I have a friend new to CC, and he was wondering why my screen is different than his. I think he has panels on, but we don't know how to turn them off. Any ideas?

Left menu, settings, scroll halfway down. Panels on / off

It's possible I'm not sure if there's a change for the new players.
It should e the first option after Facebook and Twitter under settings.

if you are unable to think on your own, count, read a map legend, etc... yes, panels are for you... if cheating is how you have made it, thus far, through life... then panels is for you... be a man, and turn panels off... did you come here to play a strategy game based on the classic board game RISK or to have a computer do all your work for you? the black jesus has spoken...-Bj

After looking into this, newer accounts do not have the setting option.
Accounts opened after a certain point use panels exclusively and the older accounts have had the option grandfathered to them to play either way (with or without).

The game really sucks without panels. Once you learn how to get them customized the way you like, you won't want to go back.

I am really into gaming and I like using my brain, and I like having the necessary data neatly laid out in customizable panels.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Make panels optional for all.

AND

Put the toggle switch between the two options on the main top banner.

Original (non-panel) is the faster option for most games. I only use panel display for certain chaotically complex maps, such as Stalingrad,

Lucky them, they never had to make the adjustments from our wonderful BoB or clickable maps into the shitfest of panels and site-built clickies.

I really hate panels, I think for it looking like an ugly cluster f*ck of buttons. I just use the old system because it looks smoother/cleaner but SOMEONE wants snapshots.

If the panels were actually in fixed positions, instead of them being moved every time I log back into this game, I'd have an easier time playing with the stupid thing.

I mean, looking at the damn thing compared to the old system, whats the point? I can still achieve the same amount of information by scrolling through the gamelog. The only thing useful I can see with panels is that on maps where I can't tell which regions can attack which, it'll identify it for me. And why does everything look shrunk? I already have shitty eye sight as it is, why did you all decide to make it worse for myself? As a reminder that when I'm 50 or 60, I'm gonna have to wear these birth control glasses just to see? Thanks. My last and biggest gripe that I have, I can't see any chat or game logs if I play on my phone. No chat or anything, just take my turn and hope I don't piss off my dubs partner.

Panels blow, mostly because it looks like a fucking mess.

You need to fix how you have them set up then. You can basically change the entire thing. Granted they're shit compared to BoB but they're better than nothing.

You're weird. Do it before you play any turns. Then refresh. Make sure your cookies are cooking.

This whole discussion brings up my point that the panels are slower, more time needed for set-up and then longer on each turn.

The additional info from panels isn't needed 99% of the time. Only for determination of attacks and bombardments on very complicated maps. (S-grad, the King's Courts), etc.

Most new players don't even know that there is a better option. They would riot if they did.

...but even if they don't know about the old map display, they are still experiencing less game enjoyment.

Could panel displays be an stated part of the answere to "Why CC is declining."?

I don't use many / any features of panels themselves and I know about the old display. I do it so I can organize the screen the way I like it, without 3rd party add ons that break @ every update.
