Ah well, it looks like the curlette and the boyfriend have split. A shame 'cos he was the sweetest guy and I heartily approved - but she's off to University of North Colorado, and he's off to a college in Pennsylvania. The summer will see if they can actually bear to split up - she's a camp counselor about an hour's drive away from where he lives, If they HAVE to see each other, I think the relationship will overcome all difficulties. If they don't, then they're done. They were together for about 6 months, longer than either of 'em have dated anyone before.

Had a friend who was in a long relationship like that. However, that was a rather toxic one, to say the least. Now, he's happily married to another woman and already has had at least one kid with her.

Just hope your daughter doesn't mind 50+ mph winds during winter.

What do we mean by intelligence? We devote copious energy to cataloging the wonderfully different forms it might take—interpersonal, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, and so forth—ultimately leaving virtually no one “unintelligent.” But many of these forms won’t raise SAT scores or grades, and so probably won’t result in a good job. Instead of bending over backwards to find ways of discussing intelligence that won’t leave anyone out, it might make more sense to acknowledge that most people don’t possess enough of the version that’s required to thrive in today’s world.

So here is a Massachusetts Law:

Section 9. Whoever plays, sings or renders the ''Star Spangled Banner'' in any public place, theatre, motion picture hall, restaurant or caf?, or at any public entertainment, other than as a whole and separate composition or number, without embellishment or addition in the way of national or other melodies, or whoever plays, sings or renders the ''Star Spangled Banner'', or any part thereof, as dance music, as an exit march or as a part of a medley of any kind, shall be punished by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars.

It's always pissed me off that nobody ever plays the full national anthem. Boston is amazing in that even if you fumble the words you can get fined with a hundred dollars. Does anyone else think they should increase this to life in jail?
