What is cinnamon? It is a spice made from tree bark.

The Spice Islands a.k.a. Molluccas have already been guessed, and furthermore there is no city named after any of the Islands.

An extensive search yields no islands of any note named "bark" or "tree", though there probably are some in other languages.

Moving on with the other clues, there are relatively few cities that I can find that have the same name as the island they are on. Abu Dhabi on Abu Dhabi, Manhattan on Manhattan (and manhattan is a drink... island of drunks?) A lot of the Greek islands have cities of the same name -- Corfu on Corfu, Mytilene on Mytilene, Rhodes on Rhodes, etc. I guess some of these may have had pirate connections at some point.

The clue about sounding like drunks made me think of Barranquilla, although it's not an island.

I'll guess Manhattan at this point, though I'm really ready to give up.

I never got the whole boys club thing here. The in-jokes that made the forums so hilarious for some, and so utterly toxic if you weren't a straight male. I liked some of Owen's posts, but ultimately he ended up trying to be on the excluding end of things.

I've been here for a while. Since 2011, if I'm not mistaken. I took a leave around 2014/2015, tired of people like him turning every forum thread into a cesspool of stupidity and unfriendliness. I even told him this very thing publicly in the forum, more or less.

As I told someone who felt the need to message me privately about this, being active in the forum and helping shape up the site rules doesn't necessarily mean you're doing something good. You may be an obnoxious jerk in the forum, help set up bad rules, and become a toxic presence in the community. I don't miss him.
