Alias Games

Post by FreeFalling123 »

Alias Games

Concise description: Give each player a fake name during the game
  • Nobody knows which player or rank each player has...

Specifics/Details:Red player shows up as General McOven, Green player HotBird, etc.
When the game starts order is randomized ... no player knows who gets which alias, but the chatbox starts with players, xx, yy joined (actual names + scores)

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments: This would make for an interesting setting...
  • Less targeting of noobs / less chance of getting targeted as a higher ranked player

I like this! And it's not just higher ranked players who have to deal with negative discrimination. I was recently in a standard game situation where a high ranked player and myself (a relatively low ranked player) were both the game leaders and other players in the game were trying to help him win instead of me so that they would lose less points.

How would we deal with account sitters? You typically have to say who you're sitting in for when you take your turn, which (when combined with the game log) will reveal which color is which player.

I think a different form of this was proposed previously called anonymous games or something. This would hide the scores and names completely until the game was over. People would be identified by no rank and just their color. The only reason I like that version better is for two player games. Otherwise, you can tell who the other person is via process of elimination.

I think this is cool. As long as the anonymous settings stay to games only and don't apply to posts on forums like this.

it would be even cooler though, if we could pick our fake name each game. I know that's unlikely to happen but it would be fun.

Another game I played did that. Every game you'd choose a name.
Every game you played could be different.
But you had an account name (I.E. IcePack).

At the end of the game, your selected name would revert to your account name revealing the true opponents after the game completed.

In fact, some players had well known sub names and so you'd know them all still, but then they would occasionally throw in a new one and people would be surprised by who it was.

This would be awesome. This would especially improve games where you play against the same people often, where you know players tendencies etc. Terminator would also be more fun if you don't know player ranks.

I think randomized fake names would be easier, and a reveal of the real user when elimination occurs would be more fun. But I would enjoy any method of implementation, this is a great idea.

Definitely would use. Adds a nice challenge figuring out who to target strategically in multi player games, relying only on the behavior you see in the game.

great idea......I think just a generic "color", ie red, green, blue, etc. would make it easier to intergrade into game play as an option instead of fake name, like was said earlier, other players would know who it is once they know he aliases, but either way, good idea.

I like it as an additional game option.

Maybe a random random.

Could you possibly engage why you think it "sounds" like rubbish, or would you rather just disapprove for the sake of argument? Your in the minority on this, So explaining why it sounds like rubbish would help?

I like keeping the names based on colours. Like Professor Green, Red Lion and Little Miss Purple
