I'm interested in a response to my question in the other thread, I don't know why the decline exactly or have preconceived notions of what caused it (tho I have some theory). But just in reading the different sides, it's the biggest question / discrepancy I see in both the arguments.

then you should probably go back to that thread and read the response. please don't cross-pollinate the threads and get either of them locked... thank you.-Jn

Except you referenced that thread here with the "apparently due to 20 people complaining" remark, so I referenced it as well. Catch up. You're better than that.

Here is a rather NEGATIVE REVIEW OF CC found very recently, around March 30, 2016:

Conquer Club.com
This is the oldest site to play Risk online, but it is by far not the best. ConquerClub has been around for a long time and it shows. It's built up a large pool of players and maps, but not much else. The gaming interface is cumbersome and outdated, and the actual maps are pretty unappealing to look at. The site hasn't seen a facelift since it started in 2006, and it is not easy to navigate. This online Risk site has seen better days. The community is still strong, but out of control discussions about politics and religion plague the forums and the concept of playing Risk online has been forgotten. Not surprisingly the active user base have been trending downwards for a couple years.

I can post the actual URL, if this gets any attention.

I have actually seen this review, it is on a website owned by a former owner of another risk style website, which may explain why 1 website listed on that page with very few members has such a glowing review ;)

Yes, I wondered who these "Reviewers" are and what their "agenda" is. I wondered how objective the review actually is and were they trying to promote their OWN website.....

Yes, naturally that websites sole reason for existence is to funnel people to their own game. I checked out that site two years ago or so, pretty dead as I recall. Played two months or so and then got bored.
CC may have shrunk, and the reasons for that are complicated, but without even checking the other five sites on that list I SERIOUSLY doubt any of them could compete.
And I'll eat my hat if any of them have a clan-scene a tenth as vibrant as this one.

NOT sure how relevant this is: I tried the recommended website from that review: I went to website Major Command.

It looked like I had 2-3 games on their basic map, if the world. I posted a question twice on their Help/Chat room, waited for answer both times, for about 30 minutes...NO answer; question disappears after 30 minutes, it seemed.

They do have video tutorials at the start for optional training. THAT is something we may want to do....

Have not started a game there yet.

I've been there too. In terms of design they're far better than CC, but they're inherently inferior imo. Very few maps, very few players and very poor server quality last time I was there, not to mention that forum activity.

Go ahead eat your hat

We may not be as vibrant as it was, but we are definitely more than 1/10th vibrant as it was.

Of course the way you measure how "vibrant" the clan scene is matter. But speaking of clans games played, clans wars, clans tournament, I know we are quite vibrant.

The clan forum is also quite active, probably one of the most active of the website atm.

You really need to join a clan again, or form one I dunno, then you'll see we are far far faaaaaaaaaar from dead. Stop mourning your old clans and old friends.

I offer this game for the following reason:

NOTICE the reason given why the NR wants to quit. From what I have read in the CC Discussion thread, making the interface more Mobile Friendly is NOT easy.

Mike JP4Fun

Game Game 16499983
• Classic
• 4 Players
• Speed (3 Min)

2016-04-09 11:05:44 - jusplay4fun: Hello and welcome to ConquerClub

2016-04-09 11:10:40 - jusplay4fun: sorry; you cannot quit....exactly....you can jus click Auto Deploy and END turn; or, jus NOT take a TURN, something I would Advise AGAINST....
2016-04-09 11:11:04 - jusplay4fun: why do you want to quit?
2016-04-09 11:11:31 - jusplay4fun: there are NO points at stake in THIS game and I can answer questions and help you...IF you want
2016-04-09 11:12:01 - taliesynkp: Can't see the map and the interface is terrible. I want to quit this game and cancel my account.

2016-04-09 11:13:39 - jusplay4fun: NOT a cell phone

I kinda disagree with "by far not the best site" and "actual maps are pretty unappealing to look at". There might be some maps that aren't great, but the vast majority aren't that bad.
As far as not being the best....I think if there were better most people would be elsewhere? There might be sites that are better at one thing or a few things individually, but not as great as CC is overall. Plus to think the "trending downwards for a couple of years" only applies to CC, it is accurate for the other sites as well.

i just can't see conquer club being fun on mobile ever....

i use my phone to take turns sometimes, but it's dreadful to do that. also, i hate having to type team chat and send pm's and run tournaments from my phone. since a phone screen is about 1/15 the size of my laptop, i would never excpect the same experience.

sure, i play solitaire and hangman when i'm waiting at the doctor office, or down at the DMV, but i'm not really having fun while i do that. to play a fun game i don't use my phone because i can't imagine a complex game being fun with such a little bitty screen.

I don't try to play on my iPhone or my work Android but I only play on my iPad mini. Other than the fact that I haven't quite figured out add-ones yet I very much enjoy it.

i'd like to point out that after this exchange, my clan had it's status removed, without any warning or notification... CC, back to it's old ways... part of what began the great decline and apparently, the new guys haven't learned from the past transgressions of former team members...-Bj
