That would be me, the highest rank non-premium cheapie out there. Proud of the former, not so much of the latter.

Ok Velve, since i hold no bad feelings against you, let's do something: We'll play a 1 vs 1, if you win, i'll take care of your membership if you need one.

School ends soon and you may need something to do with all that free time... Or, maybe you really don't need it, it may just ruin your life.

Let me know, ok?

I guess its just a matter of expectation/perception of how many people are willing to give $20 to someone they've never met to play an online game.

i would not be willing to give $20 to someone ive never met. even if i did meet lack i wouldn't pay him. I dont seem to get that "warm fuzzy feeling" he describes. After all, as sully800 said, its only a website, an online game.

Interesting...so how many of the people have you meant at the electric company that supplies the power to your house...how about the internet service that you utilize to be on here...water?...credit card?...bank?....Lack basically provides a service much like those listed...interesting. :D

Thats a fair comment jaybebo i dont know any of them personally. the difference is they are all companies to whom i can visit, to whom i can complain if my water gets cut off for no reason etc.

Your looking at it from the wrong angle though. I quoted sullys words there - "how many people are willing to give $20 to someone they've never met to play an online game."
The quote includes 3 elements:
1) Paying $20
2) to someone ive never met
3) to play an online game

You've only looked at number 2. Im sure you can find fault with my initial paragraph above telling me i can contact Lack but i ultimately STILL dont want to pay $20, to play an online game.

And that, in the words of a criminal mastermind, is known as "spin"

paypal is one of the most secure sites on the net! millions of people use it, and they have had no problems (as far as I know)

good to see another Sheffielder here in CC!

I agree. If I got premium membership, I would end up starting hundreds of games and totally waste my life away!

Premium is the easiest way to lose points ;)

I had my highest score ever when I was free (a few points shy of 1400). When premium, I managed to drop to below 900 points (around the time of my 250th game) and am only now getting back to my old score after some 5-6 player standard game wins and a lot of doubles with one of the best players on this site.

Works out very cheaply though - played over 300 games and still got about 8 months of premium left, so I'm paying about $0.02 per game so far and it keeps falling :D

Personally, I would never connect PayPal to my checking account. If I used credit cards, I still wouldn't get an account with them, but I'd probably use it with them (you don't need a PayPal account to make credit card purchases them). But there are other options:

1) Some credit cards will issue a 'single-transaction account number' - you tell them you want $20 on a single-use, they generate a credit card number that will verify up to that amount, and is invalid after 1 use.

2) Buy credit card logo'd gift cards. This is what I do. Costs 5-8% depending on the card size. You go online and register a name to the card (I use a fake for digital purchases) and then use that card with PayPal. No Risk! ;)

Nope, none at all. RISK is a registered trademark of Hasbro Inc. Conquer Club is not associated with RISK or Hasbro in any way.

Sorry, but I have to stay a non-premium lol. It's for my own protection, I spend hours a day going over every strat possible just for one game, and to see if they make their move or not (literally, I've woken up, turned on the computer and looked to see if anyone made their move and to consider new moves and strats, only to look at the same window 3-4 hours later and getting all giddy because someone is making their move, and then updating my plan). I don't think I would survive for a month if I got premium. I'm that addicted.

I'm premium, though usually, I'd be too poor for it. But luckily, my dad got it for me as an early christmas thing. (The joys of having a dad who plays CC. )

As for points, my highest was when I was premium, but then again, I never had to change my stragtie to handle many games, it was already quick. :D

yes Fircoal, but the reason you don't have a high score any more is because you suck ;)
