Post by Ronaldinho »

*Cannot think of anything nice to say so pastes extemely random story into this thread*

It all started when our antagonizing protagonist, Dukasaur, woke up in a secret vineyard. It was the sixth time it had happened. Feeling alarmingly pleased, Dukasaur punched a dull pencil, thinking it would make him feel better (but as usual, it did not). Heart filled with earnest fortitude, he realized that his beloved iPad was missing! Immediately he called his lover, Ronaldinho. Dukasaur had known Ronaldinho for (plus or minus) 1.2 billion years, the majority of which were sassy ones. Ronaldinho was unique. He was plucky though sometimes a little... dimwitted. Dukasaur called him anyway, for the situation was urgent.

Ronaldinho picked up to a very mad Dukasaur. Ronaldinho calmly assured him that most legless puppies sigh before mating, yet legless puppies usually charismatically yawn *after* mating. He had no idea what that meant; he was only concerned with distracting Dukasaur. Why was Ronaldinho trying to distract Dukasaur? Because he had snuck out from Dukasaur's with the iPad only five days prior. It was a exotic little iPad... how could he resist?

It didn't take long before Dukasaur got back to the subject at hand: his iPad. Ronaldinho belched. Relunctantly, Ronaldinho invited him over, assuring him they'd find the iPad. Dukasaur grabbed his whale and disembarked immediately. After hanging up the phone, Ronaldinho realized that he was in trouble. He had to find a place to hide the iPad and he had to do it randomly. He figured that if Dukasaur took the neighborhood-terrorizing crotch rocket, he had take at least ten minutes before Dukasaur would get there. But if he took the Flying Dice? Then Ronaldinho would be barely screwed.

Before he could come up with any reasonable ideas, Ronaldinho was interrupted by four abrasive BigWHAMs that were lured by his iPad. Ronaldinho turned red; 'Not again', he thought. Feeling pleased, he fearlessly reached for his wolverine and aimlessly poked every last one of them. Apparently this was an adequate deterrent--the discouraged critters began to scurry back toward the secret vineyard, squealing with discontent. He exhaled with relief. That's when he heard the Flying Dice rolling up. It was Dukasaur.

----o0o----

As he pulled up, he felt a sense of urgency. He had had to make an unscheduled stop at Seven-Eleven to pick up a 12-pack of dangerous oil-soaked rags, so he knew he was running late. With a mighty leap, Dukasaur was out of the Flying Dice and went indiscriminately jaunting toward Ronaldinho's front door. Meanwhile inside, Ronaldinho was panicking. Not thinking, he tossed the iPad into a box of ninja stars and then slid the box behind his canoe. Ronaldinho was pleased but at least the iPad was concealed. The doorbell rang.

'Come in,' Ronaldinho earnestly purred. With a hasty push, Dukasaur opened the door. 'Sorry for being late, but I was being chased by some selfish genocidal maniac in a homemade car,' he lied. 'It's fine,' Ronaldinho assured him. Dukasaur took a seat ridiculously far from where Ronaldinho had hidden the iPad. Ronaldinho cringed trying unsuccessfully to hide his nervousness. 'Uhh, can I get you anything?' he blurted. But Dukasaur was distracted. In a blinding moment of misguided bravado, Ronaldinho noticed a annoying look on Dukasaur's face. Dukasaur slowly opened his mouth to speak.

'...What's that smell?'

Ronaldinho felt a stabbing pain in his ear when Dukasaur asked this. In a moment of disbelief, he realized that he had hidden the iPad right by his oscillating fan. 'Wh-what? I don't smell anything..!' A lie. A selfish look started to form on Dukasaur's face. He turned to notice a box that seemed clearly out of place. 'Th-th-those are just my grandma's wolverines from when she used to have pet albino cats. She, uh...dropped 'em by here earlier'. Dukasaur nodded with fake acknowledgement...then, before Ronaldinho could react, Dukasaur aptly lunged toward the box and opened it. The iPad was plainly in view.

Dukasaur stared at Ronaldinho for what what must've been seven seconds. A few freaknasty minutes later, Ronaldinho groped flamboyantly in Dukasaur's direction, clearly desperate. Dukasaur grabbed the iPad and bolted for the door. It was locked. Ronaldinho let out a curious chuckle. 'If only you hadn't been so protective of that thing, none of this would have happened, Dukasaur,' he rebuked. Ronaldinho always had been a little insensitive, so Dukasaur knew that reconciliation was not an option; he needed to escape before Ronaldinho did something crazy, like... start chucking gerbils at him or something. Suddenly inspired by the wise teachings of Confuscious, he gripped his iPad tightly and made a dash toward the window, diving headlong through the glass panels.

Ronaldinho looked on, blankly. 'What the hell? That seemed excessive. The other door was open, you know.' Silence from Dukasaur. 'And to think, I varnished that window frame seven days ago...it never ends!' Suddenly he felt a tinge of concern for Dukasaur. 'Oh. You ..okay?' Still silence. Ronaldinho walked over to the window and looked down. Dukasaur was gone.

----o0o----

Just yonder, Dukasaur was struggling to make his way through the bush behind Ronaldinho's place. Dukasaur had severely hurt his fingernail during the window incident, and was starting to lose strength. Another pack of feral BigWHAMs suddenly appeared, having caught wind of the iPad. One by one they latched on to Dukasaur. Already weakened from his injury, Dukasaur yielded to the furry onslaught and collapsed. The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was a buzzing horde of BigWHAMs running off with his iPad.

But then God came down with His plucky smile and restored Dukasaur's iPad. Feeling exasperated, God smote the BigWHAMs for their injustice. Then He got in His time machine and sputtered away with the fortitude of half a million South American hissing sloths running from a big pack of man-eating capybaras. Dukasaur tripped with joy when he saw this. His iPad was safe. It was a good thing, too, because in six minutes his favorite TV show, Two and a Half Men, was going to come on (followed immediately by 'When man-eating capybaras meet malaria'). Dukasaur was jubilant. And so, everyone except Ronaldinho and a few unborn fetus-toting spotted wolf hamsters lived blissfully happy, forever after.

Koga is a VDLL veteran and has been hosting every clanmeeting I've attended, and I'm fairly sure this has always been the case (except the times we'd grab a quick drink somewhere). In addition to just hosting, he's also made provided places to sleep for those who wanted to or came from afar and has been the keeper of our laminated BeNeLux map.

Almost a year ago another veteran in the VDLL, [player]JBlombier[/player] got married. Koga and JB go a long way back, to I guess college, maybe high school. He was invited as a friend but also sent out a PM to every member of the VDLL if they had anything to say to JB. He wrote a beautiful card and also allowed us to give a small wedding gift to JB through him.

Also, I've learnt a ton from josko in my brief time in KoRT. His way of thinking and teaching, though something coming across as a little aggressive, helped me improve a lot as a player. Also shoutout to my old teacher [player]Frederik Hendrik[/player], who taught me the basics of teamgames and the importance of communication.

When I decided to take the plunge and start participating in tournaments, McShanester29 gave me a lot of good advice. He showed me what to do and how to do it and I've always appreciated that. He never treated me like a stupid noob even when I asked stupid noob questions. That's how we learn and I learned from him that it is important how you treat people. 3 cheers for McShanester29!

I like black jesus (shall I say "I believe in black jesus" ?) because he represents a certain form of stability in the cyberspace.
[note : this is no sarcasm.. i really love seeing his "character" enduring on cc]

i like serbia for the same reason.
and dildobaggins... and a lot of other players here.
[again, this is no sarcasm !]

I like donelladan for various reasons. Mostly because he introduced me to the concept of "dés de brins".
I like Momo33's optimism.
I like some "Escalating CC-Grandfathers" like ukey or uckuki.
I like jdsizzlesslice [sorry about not checking for potential typos ^^], for whom playing speed-fs is like riding a bicycle.
I like various VDLL-members (and i often "mix them".. take one for another.. maybe because of their (quite?) similar signatures or their netherlands flag..
- except Extreme_Ways and VOC that i know a bit better, dont worry guys : )) - i like them altogether : )
I like samdemars for not being a seagull.
I like TeeGee who is still very friendly and helpful even when he had to reduce his presence online.
I like fridolino [aka nietzsche] for searching tons of potential avatar pictures for me. (i promess i will have a picture again soon.. though im not sure i will pick it from your selections of actresses, singers, supermodels & pornstars)
I like streaker for flying under the multihunter radar for so long.
I like sekretar for the same reason.
I like the multihunters for having banned my first two cc-accounts [again, no sarcasm : i love to be -1-1-3- thx to you : ) ]
I like demonfork.
And Pete.
And Gary.
I like father betiko.
I like mother stbgal.

I better stop there.
But the list is much longer.

i greatly admire RonC for all that he has endured and brought to this site. i enjoy that he is truly himself and does not give an "F". i love that he antagonizes the masses, then turns and lets everyone into his life with a birth announcement. from troubles with the law, difficulty with his biz, time in the slammer and now actually having sex with a woman, ron shares it all... he is open and honest and i think he is one of the gems on the site..-Jésus noir

I admire Player57832, there aren't many people who catch as much crap just for being a bit off the general template as her, but she's been here sticking it out for as long as I remember.

I admire that she gets little recognition, and that she still contributes to the community.

Hi Dukasaur. Thanks for the token! Unfortunately, it says CC 10 token 1; I don't see any games I can join with that, can I please have one for another day?

Thanks,

Dukasaur wrote:Day 5 task. Say something nice about another CC member. Post in this thread. Backhanded compliments, sarcasm, or general snarkiness will be ignored. Only genuine (in my opinion) expressions of admiration will be put in the draw.

Not sure what scoreboard you refer to. The Jan Challenge scoreboard is empty. But since this is such an easy one, I'll give it a try and hope that SOMEONE on my list is on that scoreboard. :)

First, this is a great idea for a task, because it encourages happiness on the site, which is what most of us come here for, fun, diversion, happiness. So the first tip of the hat is to you Duk. I like all that you do on this site. This isn't to kiss up, but, rather it is truly sincere. Especially considering that in one tournament, I was frustrated and considered quitting the tourney, but you said something like, "just see it through," and I wound up winning it. Thanks for that encouragement.

Boy, there are sooo many cool guys I've met here on CC. I'll start with my mentors: hopalong and ddgrimes beat the pants off of me when I was a young CC pup, and I asked if they'd help teach me some stuff. They were both gracious enough to concede, so they began teaching me the ropes--in a very patient manner. Then I latched on to hudds. He taught me CC college! We had so many deep conversations about rl and about rl perspectives and experiences. And tho we are in different countries/languages/perspectives about God, we forged a real friendship that continues still. Next tamaynet was a great mentor, who became a friend in a very real sense. He led me through SoC and helped me in understanding other maps. We've talked God-stuff and very serious real life situations, so he and i are very tight!

Celiottii, macbone, and Charle all added greatly to my knowledge base and experience, helping in many ways. Now my wife and I are seriously considering going to South Africa to meet Charle and his family for our 30th wedding anniversary trip! What a super guy Charle is! So many other friendly, helpful mentors that I can give a shout out to (boy, this is starting to sound like an Oscar acceptance speech! ), like, dyrtydog, Emmdizzle, General Roy, king achilles, nicestash, and swimmerdude99. Thanks to all my mentors for being such cool guys (and girls) to help other players along! Kudos to you all.

Hey... I'm not done yet!!!

I never thought that I'd ever go to a web site and meet friends. I always thought that was a lame excuse for not having a real life. How could people actually meet online and ever get married??? No way. Pffff But I've met some really cool people that I am proud to call true friends (not that we're getting married or anything lol)! --besides the mentors that I've already mentioned! But cooney is my brother! He and I really clicked. I am truly amazed that I made such a good friend here on a stinkin' gaming web site! Pshaw! ;) :P This past year I had to perform CPR on a friend of mine who didn't make it, which is something that stealth99 share in common. I've spent a lot of time with the Stealthy One (a take off on "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky, after which he partially named himself (99) ) and have really enjoyed our time together! MyTurnToWin has been a wonderful wealth of information, having played every map (I think), and is willing to share her wellspring of knowledge, when no one else I contacted could or would! Lord Arioch, Frank Martel, jusplay4fun, ender_w99, HolyToterSmiter (my son), BIG_John, and MestreLion have all made my stay here at CC a very pleasant experience!

I am truly amazed and thankful for the great friends I've made through ConquerClub. And for that, I thank bigWham. I can't say enough nice things about all the very cool people who I have had the pleasure of encountering and am happy to say so! What a cool community this is! :D

i have tears coming to my eyes right now...hahaha.

owen would be too easy for me to add to my list of people i admire. so i am gonna go with one that i rarely speak of.

i am gonna go with noorudinaftab. i really think he challenges himself with the way he plays this game. it would be too easy for him to just win these cc games with any kind of normality. he really goes above and beyond to win games that catapult him highly on the scoreboard, he is one of the true players that all of cc should be envious of.

his skill and leadership are true genius. i have studied his ways, and truly believe he is the greatest player of all time here on cc.

13 players participated, and from them I have randomly drawn the following five winners:
-1-1-3-
RobbieDub
robellis00
shoop76
MossyMUFC

In addition, I have non-randomly stretched my budget and allowed a sixth winner, Ronaldhino. I think the amount of work that went into that story deserves something (and I'll assume that "man-eating capybaras" is a coded compliment to [player]nietzsche[/player]) pluse Ronaldhino is everybody's favourite CC philanthropist lately.

The winners will get a Day 6 token by default, unless they want some other. Please PM me or [player]Razorvich[/player] right away if you want something other than a Day 6 token. Time is short and we hand these out quickly, so your token may have already been awarded before we get your PM. That's just part of the charm of trying to run a 24/7 operation with volunteers from all different time zones...:)

Captn B, Symmetry, Leverpuller.... I liked the posts from all 3 of you. If this was a judged contest instead of a random one, you would have won...:)

Keep playing!

The Day 5 task is now over. The Day 6 task: Tell us what has been the biggest change in your life in the last 10 years, or what were you doing 10 years ago when Conquer Club was first appearing on the scene?

Thanks for your service for MY freedom, BIG_John. Thanks for enduring your losses, so that ALL Americans can pursue our dreams. (I'm not validating any political motivation here, I am validating the fact that BIG_John served and that I directly enjoy liberty as a result.) Thank you!
