Very unlikely.
Re: Russia started airstrikes in Syria, and it's a game chan
Is this the 1980's Countdown to the Late Great Planet Earth 30 years late?
If so, fundamentalist muslims, christians and jews will be rejoicing.
I am beginning to think the whole thing is a nefarious plot of the abrahamic fundamentalist coalition.
If I am right, this will certainly take the fun out of fundamentalist.

You're not far off the mark. ISIS is motivated by fundamentalist Islamic belief, which necessarily includes "end-time" prophesy. Islamic end-times prophesy has many points of similarity with Christian end-times prophesy. In fact, the Koran agrees with the Bible that Jesus will return on Judgement Day.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_in_Islam#Second_coming
According to Islamic tradition which describes this graphically, Jesus' descent will be in the midst of wars fought by al-Mahdi (lit. "the rightly guided one"), known in Islamic eschatology as the redeemer of Islam, against al-Masīh ad-Dajjāl (the Antichrist "False messiah") and his followers.[37] Jesus will descend at the point of a white arcade, east of Damascus, dressed in yellow robes—his head anointed. He will say prayer behind al-Mahdi then join him in his war against the Dajjal. Jesus, considered as a Muslim, will abide by the Islamic teachings. Eventually, Jesus will slay the Antichrist, and then everyone who is one of the People of the Book (ahl al-kitāb, referring to Jews and Christians) will believe in him. Thus, there will be one community, that of Islam.[38][39]
Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 43: Kitab-ul-`Ilm (Book of Knowledge), Hâdith Number 656:
Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (as charitable gifts)."
— Narrated by Abu Huraira[40]
After the death of al-Mahdi, Jesus will assume leadership. This is a time associated in Islamic narrative with universal peace and justice. Islamic texts also allude to the appearance of Ya'juj and Ma'juj (known also as Gog and Magog), ancient tribes which will disperse and cause disturbance on earth. God, in response to Jesus' prayers, will kill them by sending a type of worm in the napes of their necks.[37] Jesus' rule is said to be around forty years, after which he will die. Muslims will then perform the funeral prayer for him and then bury him in the city of Medina in a grave left vacant beside Muhammad, Abu Bakr, and Umar (companions of Muhammad and the first and second Sunni caliphs (Rashidun)) respectively.[7]
It's fascinating to realize that the leadership of ISIS are not the lying hypocrites that we normally expect leaders to be. They are true believers who genuinely believe their own bullshit. The reason they are indiscriminately attacking everyone and making no efforts to make friends is that they welcome their own destruction, because they believe it will accelerate the coming of the End of Days.
There's a great article you should read:
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/03/what-isis-really-wants/384980/
Discusses that and other issues. I don't want to spoil it too much with excerpts, but here's just one teaser. It discusses why ISIS is a completely different animal from al-Qaeda:
In broad strokes, al-Qaeda acts like an underground political movement, with worldly goals in sight at all times—the expulsion of non-Muslims from the Arabian peninsula, the abolishment of the state of Israel, the end of support for dictatorships in Muslim lands. The Islamic State has its share of worldly concerns (including, in the places it controls, collecting garbage and keeping the water running), but the End of Days is a leitmotif of its propaganda. Bin Laden rarely mentioned the apocalypse, and when he did, he seemed to presume that he would be long dead when the glorious moment of divine comeuppance finally arrived. “Bin Laden and Zawahiri are from elite Sunni families who look down on this kind of speculation and think it’s something the masses engage in,” says Will McCants of the Brookings Institution, who is writing a book about the Islamic State’s apocalyptic thought.
During the last years of the U.S. occupation of Iraq, the Islamic State’s immediate founding fathers, by contrast, saw signs of the end times everywhere. They were anticipating, within a year, the arrival of the Mahdi—a messianic figure destined to lead the Muslims to victory before the end of the world. McCants says a prominent Islamist in Iraq approached bin Laden in 2008 to warn him that the group was being led by millenarians who were “talking all the time about the Mahdi and making strategic decisions” based on when they thought the Mahdi was going to arrive. “Al-Qaeda had to write to [these leaders] to say ‘Cut it out.’ ”

Oh my, GoranZ get off your knees and leave Putin alone, please. Bernie is being a realist and wants a grand coalition to fight ISIS. Russia has stopped or at least slowed down the bombing of Syrian moderates fighting both Assad and ISIS. Russia knows they themselves can not defeat ISIS alone. After their civilians got blown up over the Sinai, Russia is now sharing intel with the west.

Excellent news, the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) northern offensive continues to capture territory from ISIS, al-Nusra (al-Qaeda), and the USA-backed Sham Legion in Latakia. According to this report, the SAA, backed by the Popular Defense Committees of the Socialist Ba'ath Party and the Russian Air Force have captured the important railway link outside Aleppo which will allow movement of heavy equipment into the area.
A unit of the army and armed forces, supported by Russia’s air force, established control over post 1112 to the north east of al-Karoura Mountain, al-Wadi hill, Qartab Land and al-Raqraqiyeh, al-Daghmashlieh and al-Zweik villages, al-Zweik Mountains , Mosa, Saqr, al-Sendiyan and Jleileh in the north eastern countryside of Latakia.
Earlier, an army unit, aided by the popular defense groups, established control over Point 803 in Kassab area and continued advancing towards the surrounding hills in Latakia’s northern countryside, a military source said.
Later, the source told SANA that other army units, in cooperation with the popular defense groups and aided by the Russian Air Force, established control over al-Shmeisa village, Point 482 and strategic heights in Jabal al-Zweik area in the northern countryside.

Oh, another Putin admirer. Russia knows things are getting rough for them, since Russia can't even keep 50% of their aircraft in service in Syria. Plus, with no Russian willingness to send troops into battle in Syria, it's a losing battle for them. They now are coming around to seeing that ISIS is the real danger to Russia. Took an airliner filled with Russians to wake up Russian leadership.
Russia knows that a grand coalition is being built to fight ISIS and if Russia does not cooperate with the WESTERN POWERS, well....Russia will be forced to evacuate Syria and watch Putin's best friend Assad being hanged/shot by his own people.
Too bad it took a terrorist attack on Paris to wake up Europe. Saudi Arabia is now committing itself to battle ISIS.
Saxi, go ahead and spin another long tale about how great Russia is, but Russia is slowly becoming bankrupt and can not afford a long campaign in the Middle East.

LOL, all you're doing at this point is belting out "America, the Beautiful" at the top of your lungs. It's become clear to anyone reading this thread you're just making shit up as you go; that you may not even know where Syria is located on a map.
- - "a grand coalition is being built to fight ISIS"
Who exactly is in this "grand coalition" you keep fantasizing-out-loud about? What do you think about the UK saying the soonest it can get just 4 aircraft into action is in 2016? What do you think about Canada reaffirming its decision to pull out of all combat commitments? Any opinion on Turkey backing out of its decision to commit ground troops last week? Any opinion on Roberto Pinotti saying on Italian TV yesterday "I rule out an intervention in Syria"? Any thoughts on Prime Minister Valls yesterday saying France had received no help from anyone in Europe?
- "Assad being shot by his own people?"
Any opinion on the fact the Ba'ath government has expanded its controlled territory by nearly 40% in the last month? What are your thoughts on the capture of 3 towns in Latakia yesterday by the SAA and Popular Defense Committees, backed by the Russian Air Force, from ISIS and the Sham Legion? What do you think the implications are after the SAA's victory last week in the Battle of Kuweires that CounterPunch called the biggest SAA victory in four years?
- "can't keep 50% of their aircraft in the sky"
What's your source for this?

Re: Russia started airstrikes in Syria, and it's a game chan
Mike Whitney at the progressive website CounterPunch is reporting last week's wonderful victory by the Syrian Arab Army at the Battle of Kuweires marks the U.S. latest embarrassment in its buffoon attempts to combat ISIS (this follows the failure of its training program, the repeated surrenders of it allies, and ISIS' capture of hundreds of millions of dollars of U.S. weapons) -
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) achieved its greatest victory in the four year-long war on Tuesday when it recaptured the strategic Kuweires military airbase in North Syria. Hundreds of ISIS terrorists were killed in intense fighting while hundreds more were sent fleeing eastward towards Raqqa. The victory was announced just hours after Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu said in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that Turkey would be willing to invade Syria as long as Washington agreed to provide air support, create a safe zone along the Syrian-Turkish border, and remove Syrian President Bashar al Assad.
Now that Kuweires has been liberated, Davutoğlu will have to reconsider his offer taking into consideration the fact that Russian warplanes will now be within striking distance of the border while troops and artillery will be positioned in a way that makes crossing into Syria as difficult as possible. The window for Turkish troops to enter Syria unopposed has closed. Any attempt to invade the country now will result in stiff resistance and heavy casualties.

President Bashar al-Assad just gave an exclusive interview to the French newsmagazine Valeurs Actuelles. This is an important passage:
- Valeurs Actuelles: If you had a message, one message, for Mr. Hollande and Mr. Fabius, especially after what happened yesterday in Paris? Is it “please cut your relations urgently with Qatar and Saudi Arabia?”
Dr Assad: If you have a problem about democracy with the Syrian state, how could you have good relations and friendship with the worst states in the world, the most underdeveloped states in the world which are the Saudi and Qatari states?

POTENT RUSSIAN AIRSTRIKES HIT MORE TERROR TARGETS
The armed forces of the Russian Federation yesterday conducted 13 separate air and cruise missile strikes against military forces of ISIS and of U.S.-backed rebels like the Sham Legion and Alwiya al-Furqan. RF airstrikes are being called-in by frontline forward air observers from the Syrian Arab Army and Iran's Jerusalem Force.

- 4 (USA, France, and tiny Denmark and Belgium) have said they will,
- 5 (Iceland, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia) obviously can't since they don't own any planes

Russia in Process of Removing Entire City of Raqqa from History
Russia has launched a merciless blanket air campaign, backed by Kalibr cruise missiles fired from the Caspian and Mediterranean Seas, for the object of wiping the Islamic State’s Syrian center of Raqqa off the map, DEBKAfile’s military sources report.
Moscow wants the entire Middle East to see the price exacted for launching a terrorist attack on Russia after the downing of the Metrojet airliner that killed 224 people over Egyptian Sinai on Oct. 31. Russian bombers and cruise missiles rained death and destruction on the ISIS administration center after the jihadists claimed responsibility for that disaster and published photos of a soft drink can claimed to have been rigged as a bomb for blowing the plane up.
When the Russians are done, the town will be a pile of rubble, an intelligence source told DEBKAfile.
As for casualties, the published figure of 600 jihadists killed in one day is probably far below the real figure. Our sources report that the Islamist terrorists’ death toll most probably runs into thousands with many more injured.

You're a bit behind on this. Turkey has been doing this for sometime. But I guess when Turkey is no longer Russia's friend, all bets are off?
Because here's one from October where the US did speak against. But you conveniently forgot to post. A minor mistake on your part, right?

Though I think Russia may or may not follow Erdogan's approach anyways.

Or do they take it a bit further?

I mean it's not like Russia has ever quelled or silenced independent reporters. It just HAS to be coincidence that so many that have spoken out against Putin's regime or corruption on almost any scale in Russia has ended up missing, fleeing the country, or dead, right?
"Eh, whatever."

Cooperation between Russia and France concerning Syria is materializing...
‘Fighting common evil’: Putin, Hollande agree to share intelligence on terrorist targets in Syria
If I was Hollande I would have concentrate only on ISIS around and in Palmyra, and help it to be liberated from ISIS. That wont harm ISIS a lot but would boost French moral and French people would feel proud for saving historic town from the Islamist. But thats what would I do, French would probably do something else(bomb Raqqua)...

Saxi, the Russian who's beating the war drum and now wants to arm the opposition in Turkey. Also, wants us to believe that NATO is not supporting Turkey, a fellow member.

Shouldn't you be in a line outside a Wal-Mart right about now, chawing Skoal, taking insulin shots for your adult-onset diabetes, planning what Made-in-China polyster American flag sweatpants you're gonna buy, and complaining about Mexicans?
