Or we could just pick a player at random to give it to, seeing as it's the random league. ;)

as for mvp medal: dunno, I asked during discussion and no one said a word about it, so I
figured there is not enough interest. my guess is we can figure something out, or if it's just
benga we give the medal to him :)

You can't simply "figure something out" uckuki. Like the whole tournament, a medal for a possible MVP needs to be approved by the CD in charge of Clan Tournaments.

Any idea if you're going to want one or not?

Keef,

Is it possible to allow Auger13 to be the game creator for the OSA clan this week?
I have to be gone ASAP and this would help us out immensely.
Please contact Auger13 as I probably wont have a chance to check in.
Thanks

IV. Game creation rules
- All home games are due on corresponding Sunday;
- All games should be filled by the following Sunday;
- Reasonable delay will be allowed, but at the same time the league has to proceed in timely fashion;
- Organizers reserve the right to use default game creation option at any time once 72 hours have passed;
- All games must be active prior to start of the next round;
- 10 player list provided will be used, going from first to last player. Default settings will be escalating, chained, sunny, no trench;
- Games must be labeled as they are shown in schedule CLAN1 v CLAN2 (e.g. FOED v OSA)

So when do home teams need to be in their games?

I don't have deadlines set in stone. you can send your opponents
a reminder pm. if nothing happens TOs will then send one as well.

Note: mvp poll posted, please vote

I think to restrict the MVP to either the best player on the winning team or the best winning percentage is not the best, for instance lets say the best player on the winning team wins 65% of their games, but the best player on the 2nd best team wins 85% of their games, IMO it should go to the best player on the 2nd best team. However if its 72% wins for best player on 1st place team and 75% wins for the best winning percentage and that person is on the 4th best team - I'd go with the best player on the 1st place team.

Obviously TOFU isn't playing random league, so you can discount this or discard this opinion if you want, but on the other hand, I've no vested interest in having it be a certain way.

How about MVP "score" = Win% * (18 - place finished) / 17
So in your example,
72% on winning team = 72(17/17) = 72 = 76.5% on 2nd = 81.6% on 3rd = 87.43% on 4th

So big advantage to where team finishes. But a great performance from other team can be rewarded.

Another way could be to have MVP "score" = win% * (Player's team's points / winning teams points)

Of course would need to include a game min.

Probably a better formula out there. But this a simple one.

I do not understand that at all.
If you have the best win %, you have the best win %, doesn't matter if it's by 20% or by 2%, you still have the best win %.

Personally I think it shouldn't matter how good your clan is ranked, just take the player with the best win % regardless of the ranking of his clan.

I think his point is, if you have 90% win but your clan finishes last, you haven't "lifted" your clan to really earn a "most valuable player" because they didn't make a big enough difference. Generally in sports, MVP is someone who lifts the whole group to perform and excels individually as well. So his point is, maybe if you get close to the finish (clan gets to the finals but losses) and your win % is higher than someone on the winning clan, you would win it. but if its very close or similar, then to default to the winning clan since their team won and the MVP helped push them over the edge (unless the person on 2nd place clan was a greater win % significant enough to be of value to that team)

Well he is wrong. MVP is either MVP of competition or MVP of his clan, there is no way around to swing it.

What about if someone wins say 13/16 games and another person wins 31/40? I'd say 31/40 is more impressive and more beneficial to a team, but again I don't really care.

That's why I used to set the minimum to 50% of possible games, 16 is a joke.

^^^ Ya to what he Said

Keep it simple Fellas.............. League MVP
The winning clan can denote their own MVP with an Atta boy....lol
In OSA the MVP gets pivot man position for the annual reach-around......

If there are 2 people that have close to the same %
make a co-MVP....... Its not rocket science =/

MVP 99.9% of the time, it will be completely obvious...lol

so far best player overall has most votes by far.
some suggest 16 games is not enough. I figured that's
like 1 game per round, make it closer to 2?
30 games minimum?

16 Rounds with maximum 4 games per round is 64 games total. So 16 games seems not much, but with only 12 games per round 30 (almost half) seems a bit much. IMHO 24 looks like a decent number (just over a third of the games).

if we are going with less games then it should say play vs min 70% of clans
like this player can play in only 5 wars and be mvp
