Wow, so many non-premium players.

Post by loopinvariant »

At $20/year this site is such a deal, it works out to pennies per hour of fun. But I noticed something with the new rank icons. There are a lot of non-premium players of high rank. I'm talking people of Capt/Lt rank with hundreds of games completed.

I can understand a low ranked person not having premium, but seeing that many with high ranks wearing silver is sad.

That would be me, the highest rank non-premium cheapie out there. Proud of the former, not so much of the latter.

This game was once fun, but the necessity to log in every day finally took its toll on me.

Best Score: 4660 (11/20/10)
Best Rank: 1 (8/2/13)

I'm actually surprised in the opposite way! Many more people on here are premium members than I would have expected, especially once you get into the lower ranks! (I thought there would be hardly any....)

I guess its just a matter of expectation/perception of how many people are willing to give $20 to someone they've never met to play an online game.

Being a premium member, the selling point for me to dish out the $20 bucks was getting more than four games going at a time...much like JR...but not to the same extreme...I do not like having to wait a day or two to have my turn come around in a game.

Not to mention that I enjoy contributing to the improvements that we are seeing to the site. Also, being premium allows me to experience the full effect of the site by playing more games and learning and honing my skills at a quicker pace...agreed it has not paid off thus far, but it should in the long run.

I was also surprised at how many lower ranking members have premium. Just look at the bakers or cooks.
Whatever they are.

I was surprised like sully was. In my games, the majority of the players are premiums. Makes you wonder how much lack gets... not that i begrudge him a single dollar.

Not much, since it's $20/year.
But I were rather impressed with the amount of Premiums, anyways. Most sites that I go, Premium members are treated as the "elite" of the site.

Premium

Post by Guuner »

Personally I thought $20 wasn't much. I got the premium most of all so that I could set up private games for me and my buds. Its also fun to play 8 or 9 games at once, but I find myself more addicted with that many games as well.

yup 20$ is nut much but depending on how many people have premium it can add up to a nice sum.

We have 98853 registered users

if a quarter of those 98853 people have premium that can lead to almost 500000 $/year which is really good.

of course there are taxes to be paid plus the costs of the site (and beer) so he probably gets less than that. but since i remember him saying he quit his job to attend the CC needs full time, i guess he makes enough.
my respects lack. you deserve it.

@ $20 a year versus the amount of hours I've spent playing, I imagine this is the cheapest form of entertainment I'm ever going to encounter.

I wish it was more than $20, so when my renewal comes around I'd think for more than 2.3 seconds and maybe get my life back!

Well, i'm not premium because I need the 4 games max protection. Otherwise i'll be playing 50+ in no time. Absorbing all my free time. Did that once with an MMOG...never again.

Would be great though if I still could pay the 20 bucks and get the limit raised to 10 or so :)

I'm aware of my addiction, and keeping myself Freemium is the best way to manage it. Bye the way Velve, I want what you've got.

Two things stop me going premium

1) I already spend far too much time on here
2) I'm still dubious over the security of paypal

don't forget to count the ones who had been premium last year, but let it lapse this year (or just haven't renewed yet).

i would not be willing to give $20 to someone ive never met. even if i did meet lack i wouldn't pay him. I dont seem to get that "warm fuzzy feeling" he describes. After all, as sully800 said, its only a website, an online game.

Lets make it 40 dollars a year and give them a mug, hat or shirt. then the word gets spread even more.

40 dollars is a lot of money, for a shirt, hat or mug. Let me see, would you get that every year. i would have a stack of them, laying around the house. i guess i could start selling them in my yard sale.
