The despicable "Anti-Defamation League," which claims it's a human rights organization, is financing tactical training of U.S. police officers by the Israelis - the world's most brutal and corrupt police system. What other "human rights organization" pays for tactical and surveillance training for police at all, let alone in a reviled human rights abuser that is under an active, global boycott?

The brilliant Princeton academic Dr. Norman Finkelstein, whose parents were both survivors of Nazi concentration camps, has repeatedly denounced the so-called ADL for being a front group to spread Israeli violence and insanity in the U.S. This is what he said last year after the so-called ADL released their so-called "Global Index of Anti-Semitism" ...

I would find it alarming if anyone except ADL head Abe Foxman took this survey seriously. Fortunately, most every sane person has come to take anything the ADL utters with a dozen boulders of salt.

But is it even true that a quarter of the world’s population is anti-Semitic? I am actually surprised at how low the percentage is, in light of the calculated absurdity of the survey questions. According to the ADL, an affirmative response to the statements in bold-face reveals an anti-Semitic mindset:

To clarify - you are okay with "police" operating outside their jurisdiction? If the Arizona Highway Patrol drove up into Ontario and started arresting people, your response would be "people needs to obey the po-po!"

The West Bank is in the internationally-recognized jurisdiction of the Palestinian Civil Police. If the Arizona Highway Patrol, the Burnaby RCMP, or the Israeli Army enter the West Bank they do so with no more authority of law than a visiting tourist. In the State of Palestine it's against the law for visiting tourists to shoot at children while they're taking in the sights. If the Israeli Army feel they can't enter the West Bank safely without mowing down a few kids, why don't they just choose not to enter the West Bank? Really fucking simple.

Mennonites May Join Boycott of "Israel" As Soon as Wednesday!

In the last 24 months the Presbyterians, Methodists, and (yesterday) Congregationalists have joined the global boycott against the imaginary state that doesn't exist. On Wednesday afternoon the General Convention of the Mennonite Church USA is expected to ratify a resolution ordering their fund managers to completely divest from so-called "Israel" and authorize their ministers to begin evangelizing individual action by adherents against "Israel." Fingers crossed!

MENNONITE BOYCOTT RESOLUTION WITHDRAWN BEFORE VOTE

Due to a technical question raised by several delegates over the wording of the boycott resolution, the Mennonite Church USA today voted to table the resolution until the next General Conference when they will enact a revised version. Too bad, but in the wake of the UCC resolution, this is a minor setback since the Mennonites only have 100,000 members to the Congregationalists 2 million.

In addition to divestment from companies that profit from the occupation, the resolution urges members not to buy “products that enable the military occupation to continue, including items produced in the Israeli settlements.”

It says “Israel’s military occupation of Palestine is sinful, based on injustice and must come to an end.” It adds that “as U.S. citizens we are complicit in this sin” due to the U.S. government’s support for Israel.

Several delegates wondered if the church was asking members who work for companies that profit from the occupation to quit their jobs.

Randall Koehler of Metamora, Ill., said some people in his congregation work for Caterpillar, a machinery manufacturer often cited as profiting from Israel’s occupation of Palestine.

Up next on Friday: the House of Deputies of the Episcopal Church of the U.S. will vote on boycott. I think this is going to be the big one. They only have 1.5 million members, but the church owns $15 billion in stocks and bonds. The outgoing Primate opposes the resolution and the incoming Primate has not commented. However, last year the World Anglican Communion pulled $300 million out of Caterpillar as punishment for selling to Israelis so hopefully the ECUS will follow the lead of the mother church and help us burn this bitch down.

Bad news - the boycott resolution was passed by the Episcopalian House of Deputies but narrowly lost in the House of Bishops so was not enacted. The silver lining is that the Primate of the Episcopal Church who opposed it is leaving at the end of July and being replaced by Foley Beach who is the first African-American Primate and has described Desmond Tutu - who has been a leading force behind the boycott movement - as his "spiritual mentor." So this is probably more a one-year delay than a defeat. The Episcopalians are an important one to get because of their money and their historic status as the former state religion. Let's land this fish!
