Gilligan...is this any clearer in the image above?
I think it is clearer, but I was thinking above the island.
Gilligan...moved it to above the island...and also deleted one of those Tiwi islands as it was in the road and redundant...
Try it northwest of the island.
Boy, am I being a bitch.

on the small I believe you need to move these up one pixel
New Hollanida
Rabaul
Tulagi
on the large I believe you need to move this up one pixel
Fak Fak
on the large I believe you need to move these down one pixel
Ambon
Timor
also, on the large Flores looks a bit strange because of where the circle lies, so you might consider trying different spots
edit: or maybe it needs to be moved to the right one pixel. hard to say

onbekende wrote:will there be a possibility for neutrals on this map?
if no: kill the army shades on W. Australia
if so: Update the small army shades in W. Australia to the color (and brightness) of the large version
yes onbekende...i am writing neutrals into the xml....but they won't be in Australia

oo, I ment when the game starts sometimes there are neutrals as there idn't a good way to split the territories in between the players
butt if you make it so that the remaining territories can be devided by 3-4-5-6 then the W. Australia army shades may go

hi hammockboy1...yes that would be the sensible approach...it does look complicated but when you break it all down,,,quite easy really...any questions please ask.

Morning unriggable, yes it is that close..." The distance across the Strait from Cape York to New Guinea is approximately 150 km at the narrowest point..." (quote Wikipedia)
If you look at the Google earth shot below you'll see this quite well.

XML Posting
Posting XML:
66 Territories...
Starts with 30 neutrals....identified to replicate the advances between the japanese advances in the north of the map, and the Allies in the South.
This leaves 36 territories to begin with...3 armies on each starting tert and neutral tert.

sorry, I didnt read the XML to see where the neutrals are, but I don't think I like this idea at all.
I liked the map as it was and I can understand 6 neutrals, since you have 66 territories.
maybe you could put up a map to quickly show us where all the neutrals are so we could get a better idea of how the start will look.

Hi edbeard....this will still allow 36 terts to start, but will be on both sides of the map and the neutrals will be in the middle as in the map below, and this is bascially how things started out in this scenario, the Japanese attacking from the north:

Hm, well the addition of all the start neutrals flips this map upside down nearly!
Are the neutrals in the image above the ones that are always going to start neutral?
If so, lets take a look, and make sure either the top/bottom isn't too powerful. I think it may be a touch too many neutrals though.
Also, when posting the XML in the post (which I always see as uneeded, as you can post the XML in a link, and people can visit it there...) at least quote it or shrink the size of the text a little, so it doesn't take up so long. But I'd stick with links.

OK...can do with the xml link.
As to starting neutrals....yes that was my idea....but they can be re-examined or reduced as required of course.
EDIT\\\ Andy, under current circumstances...there are 18 on each side of the map.

OK...in the map above...I have reduced the number of terts that are neutral to 18. This leaves 48 terts (24 each side).
The terts that are neutral are:
Flores
Kupang
Timor
Tanimbar
Ambon
Merauke
Goroka
Fly River
Milne Bay
Kokoda
Lae
S Cristobal
Guadalcanal
Tulagi
Aru
IJN Shoho
Arawera
Madang

Gilligan wrote:why have starting neutral?
Hi Gilligan....
A. to use the new xml code
B. (and most importantly) this is actually how the Battle Of Australia started with the japanese taking over the north and the aussies and allies in the south...the major battles in this campaign were at gaudalcanal, kokoda, tulagi, madang and awawera....
C. I was hoping that neutral terts could have been implemented when i started developing this
D. there was always going to be some neutrals as there is 66 terts...this just gives more emphasis to actually taking those terts in question.

- Final Forge
---The WWII - Battle For Australia Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be two days for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.
Post questions and concerns if any.
