Re: District of Alaska - v14.1 [2014-23-02] pg23 - XML ONLY
A while back Seamus asked me to have 1v1 start with 3 ships, but the XML didn't like it when I tried to do that

Re: District of Alaska - v14.1 [2014-23-02] pg23 - XML ONLY
I had a weird unthinkable truth on this map...I wanted to reinforce from a little boat...it wouldn't do it. Technically I wanted to reinforce a different port without attacking a neutral port and losing troops through that. Game 14810917...my 7 troops if you can see it...top left.
Re: District of Alaska - v14.1 [2014-23-02] pg23 - XML ONLY
playing map for the first time, I have some notices.
it is hard to read legend on the small map (on the big map it is better). maybe little more opacity could helps.
the route in Port Heiden is on the small map almost invisible.
it is no advantage to hold route. for five regions player gains +2 and +2 autodeploy in Camp. but he lost -4 units and its harder to secure District.

Hey everyone. Thanks for the support on this map. Personally I'm a big overall fan of this one.
I'd like to finish this up and put it to bed, if there is anything that needs fixing that is.

Just circling back on this.

I've played a few good games on this without noticing any issues over a long period. Can it be moved out of beta? There seems to be a bit of a logjam with approving maps right now.

not until they change it back the way it was at the beginning, unable to fort back troops to the ships.

It's been so long I really don't remember there being a "before/after" to the fortifying of the ships.nietzsche wrote:not until they change it back the way it was at the beginning, unable to fort back troops to the ships.
The way they are setup, gameplay wise, I don't see why a player shouldn't be able to reinforce back to the ships. It does mean a player needs to have a port connected to the ship, and have taken the 2n small boat. These two requirements at a minimum take 5n to kill, and is an automatic loss of at least 1 troop since the small boats revert to 2n. Also, my vision of the way the ships work would provide for a loop of "supplies" (troops), to and from the ports and ships, as they are currently set.
Personally I don't see why it should be changed, but certainly interested in more of your perspective.

I think in the past you could only fort back if you owned the 2nd boat, the one that can attack to the ship? That made it interesting. At one point they changed it so that you can fort back even if you didn't own the "in" boat, owning the "out" boat was enough.
I'm not sure if that's still the case. I don't remember much as I haven't played that map recently. I stopped playing when it was changed.
Maybe IAmCaff can help me here if he remembers.

Maybe you played it in parachute. I don't think it was ever the case you described.
Currently if you only have the "out" ship you can't fort back. You need the "in" ship.

I agree. I actually talked about keeping the map excluded from the parachute setting bc it skirted the whole one way ship idea, and I didn't like that. It was decided to just leave it open to all types and let players do what they want.Donelladan wrote:Maybe you played it in parachute. I don't think it was ever the case you described.

With that being said, the small boats have always been "one-way" lines of attack to, and from the ships. So either way, as far as the map is now I don't see any issues. Thoughts?

I'm really not sure any more, it's been quite a while.
I think Donelladan is right.

You know this could be right. I played my last game in this map in Parachute, it was probably when Parachute was new and I disnt notice.

It seems that this map is ready to be promoted out of Beta. Does this process work? Or does it depend on someone who has left the site?

Not sure if you're forgetting that even in a trench game you can ALWAYS attack through a killer neutral. So for example, even though it's trench you can still attack the large ship on your same turn as taking the small killer neutral ship. If that's not what you meant just let me know and I'll try to help.

I don't have the stamps at the ready, but I think this map has proceeded far enough in beta.
Without any further objections, I hereby quench this map!
Congratulations, Seamus76.

Just noticed that Valdez/Valdes is spelled differently on the map compared to the drop boxes.

Playing this map after long time... and get surprised, all ports are not conected?? if not, what ports are conected?
