Accused:

[player]bbillsfan91[/player]

The accused are suspected of:
Other: Holding me hostage round after round.

Game number(s):

Game 15476482

Comments: Haven't posted her in over a year, but I am done with this game. He has over a 400 men and has been stacking next to my single for rounds after I conceded the game and now he is dragging it out.

Anyways, the entire tournament encourages this behavior
viewtopic.php?t=209847
This will be a round-robin, 16 player tournament with 2 groups of 8. The winner of each group will play each other in the final. Now here is where it begins to get a little more complicated. As this tournament is being played on the Conquer Man map the winner of each group will be decided by who has the highest score on their 'Arcade Game' (group). Points will be received by the number of troops a player has once they have won their game. For every troop a player has at the end of an individual game, they will receive 1000 points.

The game has a 20 round limit at which time the game will end and the guy will get the points he needs to help him in his tournament.

Foe, move on, and dont join a similar style tournament in the future.

From what I can see the game could have ended the earliest during round 16 since then it has been a matter of waiting. However this is probably more of an issue caused by the setup of the tournament as BGtheBrian pointed out earlier. Anyway it seems that since the game is in round 20 it might end before a verdict is reached.

Noted

A PM has also been sent to the TO also requesting that he/she add something to the tournament rules so that this situation is not repeated in further tournament games.

In my defense, it had a round limit and as stated above, the tournament objective is to have as many troops as possible at the end of your game. There were no rules stating that I couldn't do this and as I was behind in the standings I took advantage of what I could to get back in. I didn't expect it to get blown up like this.

I told the TO something would happen at some point.

i apologize!!! the rules pretty much glorified this behaviour and promoted it... what a great tournament... and kind of a whiny complaint, since the OP knows the rules of the Tournament.-Jn

Why is this noted? In case they use tournament rules to gain an advantage in future?
I think this should be cleared. If one gets points per troop that one has, then not finishing the game in order to collect troops is the optimum tactic. I don't see how that indicates any misbehaviour at all.

I agree. You can't change the tournament rules midstream. It's part of the makeup of the tournament and no doubt why there is a 20 round limit. This strategy is expected. He should be cleared.

To add support to this argument: there is currently a string of PMs about whether there should be a penalty for holding hostage, but the voice of the participants seems to be that the rule within the tournament shouldn't change. I would agree that this should be cleared.

Correct me if I am wrong but hostage games are against the rules of the site.

Is it not a special case when the tournament essentially promotes that type of play, although within a 20 round limit? If anything it's the fault of the Tournament Directors for letting the tournament through.

Although, I did predict and warn the organiser that something is likely to happen based on these rules and it looks b00060 and I were two of a few who didn't use the hostage situation.

Edit: I'm literally just playing devils advocate in this thread. Here's my PM response within the discussion including all the tournament players:

I think the rule is bullshit. I'm sure b00060 agrees. I don't know about anyone else.

I warned isaax05 that something would happen at some point. I've been held hostage once so far in this tournament, and it was the only game I've lost, and since it was against a freemium I didn't see much point in complaining when they're using a game slot of theirs and not mine.

However, I have deliberately not held anyone hostage throughout this tournament because there are a few freemium players; I've played 2 in 4 games (albeit lost against one). It's also against the rules of the entire website, and therefore I believe it is poor management both by isaax05 and the Tournament Directors to even put it in place to begin with. I realise it's my own prerogative on whether to make use of the rule to gain more points in the tournament, but I'd rather play within CC rules rather than dubious tournament rules.

as everyone else in the thread has said, you shouldn't change the tournament rules after the tournament has started. this guy was doing something within the rules of the tournament, but against the rules of CC... people knew the rules of the tournament before joining, if not, they certainly do now. i applaud the accused for his actions in being as competitive as possible within the tournament rules to set himself up for a possible run at the prize... good for him... clear this dude and move on... if you want to prevent this from happening again, ensure that tournament rules do not run contradictory to site rules... it is that simple... but do not change this tournament rules...-Jésus noir

I believe this being noted was the right decision. It shows that tournament CC rules take precedence over special tournament rules. If this had been marked cleared the next time a warning is given for hostage games you and others would post that precedent had been set that hostage holding was allowed.
