I would like to call dibs. I like the view better from a little higher, and hopefully can get back there.

Just wanted to post: Thank you Celliottii! It's a mind-boggling task that you have and I, for one, appreciate it. I enjoy the Ladder and enjoy the fruits of your (and others, I know that Celli isn't the only one involved with the ladder) labor.
Peace
R
Thanks, Russde! Just over two years ago (yes, we've been doing this that long), Macbone and I were chatting about how we/I could become better at 1v1 games and let others learn too. We came up with the original SOC 1v1 Ladder, but only allowed grads and teachers to participate. We knew that a new product would have bugs and need some tweaking, so we unleashed it on players who felt the same.
The Ladder grew, got tweaked, and finally evolved into what we have today. Now, is the SOC Ladder a finished product. No. I get suggestions from time to time on new things to add or ways to spice it up. Some of those suggestions worked and got incorporated...while others crashed and burned when testing them.
When we migrated over to the complete SOC forum to allow SOC students to participate, Mac allowed me to take full rein of this pony and it's been a wild and fun ride!
I cannot take the full credit for the success of the SOC 1v1 Ladder. That goes to you, the loyal players. YOU are the ones who keep making your challenges and accepting them. YOU are the ones who keep this Ladder alive. I'm just the little guy behind the emerald curtain pulling all the strings and flipping the knobs to keep the machine running.
I also wish to thank the veteran players that I call my "Counsel". Any changes you see in the rules, game play, and/or reset are not completely decided by me. I take yours and my ideas and present them to various players to get their opinion. I take that info and make the final decision on what is best for the Ladder as a whole. I've always kept those players names in confidence as I don't want them to be subject to any backlash of a decision, but I truly respect and appreciate the input they have with the evolution of the SOC 1v1 Ladder. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen!
My only apology to you, the player, is that I do get busy in real life and may miss some postings for a few days. But the players have been awesome in helping each other out with questions that do pop up.
On that note, I have to thank everyone who has helped with the Forum.
I like what I do to help CC and the SOC. Real life keeps me from doing more to help out, but as long as the powers that be keep me here, I'll take care of the Ladder.
By the way, even though I'm towards the top of Ladder (which was pure luck with the last reset), I don't think I've become a better 1v1 player...I'm statistically the worse player on the Ladder!!!
Thanks, again, everyone!
Chuck
PS...Russde, your case of scotch is on its way!

Thanks Cell
LOL...I read each post one at a time, so I don't lose track chronologically...so you're case of scotch is coming too, Tamaynet!

Sorry I've not reported this already but I managed to beat General Roy 2 outta 3. As always, he kicked my tail mercilessly in his home game but I managed to sneak the others by thanks to good drops and being first in my home and challenge games.
So I'd like to challenge [player]t4mcr53s2[/player] with Game 15322368 and Game 15322371. Walled.
Got the match result posted and recorded the new challenge...Glad to see you finally won a match!
MGSteve wrote:And may I echo earlier comments about Herr Laddermeister, Chuck celliottii? I've long held him in the highest esteem just because of all the ladder work he does for us. And that's not even mentioning all his work with the SoC or the charity work in his hometown. That's also not mentioning his skills as a player but then... we were talking about his good things. Right?
And you get a case of scotch!!! I would have sent two cases if you had mentioned the bad things! LOL

Got the match result records...Please note, T4 is currently being challenged by MGSteve. MG can only move to #3 if he wins (noted on Ladder). Tamaynet does have DIBS against T4 once his match is complete.

Re: SoC 1v1 Ladder Challenge
well i beat iamcaffeine so i'm at # 1 ... mg steve cha;llenged me before i won ( i was still in 3rd ) and i excepted ; we're under way ;
but i see Tamaynet has dibs ; what does that mean exactly ; i think we need a policy
i'd gotten dibs on tamaynet and iam caffeine 's match for first but then challenged caffeine for that saw reason...
my suggestion is that dibs should henceforth mean that no one else can challenge either of the people ion the battle for first , not just the one currently in first
but i see Tamaynet has dibs ; what does that mean exactly ; i think we need a policy

I wish either my father or my mother, or indeed both of them as they were in duty both equally bound to it, had minded what they were about when....
If 2 player fog game, please allow 12 hour snap courtesy, or post what I could have seen.... Thank you

You've done really well with this event. It is one of the most stable ongoing events on the site.

I've already got a policy in place for this (it happened before). The following is NOT a rule, but a policy I do follow:
Since I go by the time stamp of each challenge and match result, I make notations of when a player makes a challenge that causes that challenge to go outside of the "3 rungs up" rule or the DIBS rule.
In this case, MGSteve issued his challenge to t4mcr53s2 before iAmCaffeine posted his match result against T4. Therefore, MG's challenge is valid. When T4 moved up to the #1 spot, I placed a (#3) next to MG's name in the "Challenged By" spot. This lets me know that IF MgSteve wins the match, he can only go to the #3 position.
Because Tamaynet's claim on DIBS is valid, he will challenge T4 once his match against MG is completed.

Re: SoC 1v1 Ladder Challenge
I have got a problem, as I've received a challenge from both [player]ganguscalm[/player] and [player]ElricTheGreat[/player] at the same time.
I guess it means one of the challenges cannot count. As ganguscalm was the first, I would expect that to have priority. I also see:

Can happen for the best of us. I would not have thought to check the other messages either, since it's unusual that two players decide to send a challenge at the same time.
