In order to capture and retain those people, the site has to have more eye candy. It's absolutely critical that it holds the attention of new users long enough for them to actually take a turn.
Eye candy is something totally different than what you have here. Eye candy is sleek and sexy not clunky and goofy

At the same time its extremely critical to keep existing members too ................... I still cant tell what is a tournament and whats a regular game on my central command legend. And....the new format makes it a bitch to keep an eye on my teammates so they dont miss turns.

by definition, this site would be the exact opposite of "eye candy"... just sayin'... the black jesus has spoken...-Jésus noir

Too funny... we need a greasemonkey script or some add on to revert back I'm sure... Man I'm tired of this redo. I like many joined the site years ago for the simplicity of a simple game on a simple site. The classic'ness of it all.

As far as scrolling goes this layout is more space efficient in the majority of situations - the exceptions being smaller screens and games with 2 players. So the general answer to how much scrolling is: less.

Aside from looking better, Central Command uses responsive design which you will see if you resize your browser. The main stimulus for this redesign was to make this page work better on mobile devices, small screens, and in situations, such as a Facebook Tab, where there is limited space available.
So it's designed for smaller screens, but it's not as space efficient for smaller screens?
CC is still painful to play on my iPod Touch. I still don't get why we can't have two versions of the site like a billion other sites do, one for PCs and one for mobile/Facebook.

Then one of his lackeys posts that he won't know until next week when BW is coming back........... So updates, pisses off without telling the help how long for...... What would you call that in the real world?

Bogan, for all you know, BW has struck a deal with Facebook with the condition of the central command being put in and is going to be spending the next 40 years counting his money.

A vacation ?
keefie, keefie, keefie, well meaning keefie. Could you contribute a time? No. Vacations are planned. So BW either doesn't plan(believable) or holds team CC in contempt(believable). Yawns, and wanders off to do something more interesting.
Wouldn't it be great if central command actually did something useful, like separate sequential and freestyle games, and perhaps a clock until your next move, or how about an options bar so we can decide what we want to see and how it will appear! Going to have a cry in the corner.....

Cry in that corner while you can. Who knows next update may have a periscope view. A white circle with dark around the edges. Might be an improvement(Blake this is a joke, please don't roll out periscope view)
+1 to Doc_Brown's useful comments. I think the new format can work but need some improvement.
Doc_Brown wrote:What the new interface improves:
More games fit on the screen at once. (If you actually consider this an improvement, which I don't. Scrolling down a list of neatly arranged games was never a problem.)
What the new interface loses:
Map name is no longer listed (map icons aren't always easy to see).
Full tournament title no longer shows.
Time remaining for turns is tougher to see (white text on dark background vs. black text on light background).
Games are now cluttered together instead of being presented in a neat clean list.
Less white space around text may allow it take a smaller footprint, but it also means the text is less readable.
Interface looks terrible with chatglove (new chat indicator is nearly the same shade of red as the highlighting indicating the player's turn is waiting, and the reduced horizontal space makes the chat indicator wrap poorly).
Settings are now cluttered together rather than separated neatly into a couple categories (it's much tougher to find which games have round limits than it was before).
Much tougher to jump around all over the page to figure out which games have teammates awaiting turns (scrolling down a single vertical list is much easier than running back and forth along rows).
Tournament tab is completely broken now (not that it was really functional before).
bW was able to post in Newsletter HQ, he's just avoiding you.
I'm sure Wham would not resort to such douchery. surely he wants to answer the pertinent questions about recurring subscriptions, and why it costs more to gift membership. Seems to me that a genuinely interested owner of a website would be trying to boost membership, especially on a declining site.
Nonsense. You wouldn't expect an answer from almost any website owner on such issues.
Either he intended the changes, in which case he would expect some backlash, or he didn't and changes will be made. Kowtowing to Bogan is not going to help this dojo.

With your user handle I'm sure the concept of customer service is a foreign one. Paying user, legitimate complaint/query. Not kowtowing at all, no way even the most ignorant douche in the world would view responding to a request for information from a paying user as kowtowing. Get back under your bridge troll, and maybe don't speak whilst grown ups are talking.

here here! i had been finding the site more playable on my tablet and have gotten used to taking turns there.
but some of the updates have made it more annoying.
i can't imagine the site is making an assload of money so lets not complain too much but can we hope to eventually have two versions?
Sorry, I was writing an open letter bitching about my banks UI and waiting for a response. I got one, but not from the CEO. The CEO has made his stance clear, but I still want him to directly respond to me. To me! Sure, the UI has to run in multiple languages for their customer base, but f*ck em. If he doesn't respond to me, and give me! what I want then...then I'm going to throw a fit, a fit!
