DK's koontz-style III [W=Dean00]

Post by Dukasaur »

Can you believe that tomorrow it will be a full three years since DK's koontz-style II wrapped up? A full three years! Wow, time flies. So many tournaments, so many memories! Anyway, it's high time to do it again.

16 players in 1v1 action will play one single round where everybody plays everybody once (therefore 15 simultaneous games) on the Random map with default (Auto, Seq, Esc, Chained, Sunny) settings, and any ties to be resolved by the much-debated koontz rule.
(Wow, it is possible to completely describe a tournament in just one sentence!) :o

For those who want it broken down into steps:
Classification: 1v1
Eligibility: Premium Only. (Beware: you will get all 15 games at once!)
Map: Random
Settings: CC default (Auto, Sequential, Escalating, Chained, Sunny, No Trench)

Ties: koontz rule (see below if you need clarifications)
There! In true koontz style, I made every line a different pretty colour! (I don't do anything by half-measures, even imitations!)
:D

koontz1973 wrote:Dukasaur, here is the rule in its entirety. I know you have the link to the rule thread but it might be nice to put it in the first post so there is no misunderstandings.

One round, everyone plays everyone in 1 on 1 matches; at the same time. Player with most wins, wins the tournament. If two players are tied the player that won the 1v1 match wins the tourney--if multiple players are tied and there is no clear head to head winner -all the players involved will play another round robin.

As HA said, it does differ from your one slightly so it might be good to decide which one you want to go with.

My personal issue with that wording is that "no clear head to head winner" is not defined. Therefore, I define this "clear head-to-head winner" as "a situation where 3 or more people are tied, and one of them has beaten all the others in the original round." Conversely, "no clear head to head winner" would mean "the absence of a situation where 3 or more people are tied, and one of them has beaten all the others in the original round."[/spoiler]
