Good thing no one in this thread ever called showing courtesy bullshit, but thanks for playing.
Bollocks.
As the fog rule is directly about showing courtesy, I will respectfully disagree with your statement. You, in fact, were the first person in this thread to call it bullshit. Carry on...
Thanks, I shall carry on.
I still maintain that it's bullshit, and I'll explain myself. Back when I used to play games, more than one or two at a time, I never took a turn that had more than 12 hours on it. Even if I was the last to join, and it was a foggy game, I never took my turn right away. Because of this, I was always automatically "courteous". So for that, you can go back to thinking highly of me, and I can feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that you think I'm nice. My comment is directly related to the whiny and pathetic on this site, who treat not getting a snap in a foggy game as a gigantically huge deal. Because the other part of my gameplay was, even when I join a foggy game last, and despite using BOB, I'd NEVER go in and take a snap. I'll use it during the game sometimes, if I felt it was an especially close game and would help, and I'd still get decent results, or at least, results I was comfortable with. Whiny people, those who think it should be an automatic rule, and who abuse others who don't follow this "rule" or call them "less than courteous", are bullshit wankers and should shut up. And again, why bother with fog then? Just play sunny games so you can know exactly what your opponent is doing. Or just grow up, stop being a crybaby, and play the game.
Happier?
Bollocks.
Now this sums it up, good post

I do not whine about it, rather I choose to never start fog games and wait for an opponent. It is a distinct advantage and I play this game to win. I would also support an option to make the snap automatic when a game starts. If you and I played 100 fog games and I always got to snap the board when you went first and you declined to look when I went I suspect you could not win.

I believe the new, inferior interface site-version of BOB features automatic snaps from game initiation. I'm surprised this isn't something you could code yourself though, since you have created an exclusive script already.

Fair point...sometimes life keeps us to busy to make game tools .
I'd be more annoyed about going second in 5/5 games, bad karma!
Unless I make a mistake I give 12 hours, but it's because I prefer not to try and take advantage. I like playing to win when it's a level playing field and I don't like being on the giving or receiving side of unfair advantages. They happen enough with placements, turn order and dice!

This...exactly. Oh wait...total bullshit, sorry.
how is it total BS for you if he is basically saying that he is in favour of letting the opponent take a snap? I kind of thought it was your position too.
for those of you who think it is bs (rhp)....lets consider a professional fight. The fighters both enter the ring and are given a chance to prepare for each others attack. Attacking in this game before the opponent is given a chance to see the board is like sucker punching the opponent on their way into the ring.
For me, and it appears many others, its a sportsmanship move. Attacking quickly is a cowardly act and people I rate get rated accordingly when they do it. Someone said earlier, take every advantage you can get because it's a war game....and that same viewpoint would tell me you would bring a gun to a knife fight.

Coward!
You cannot compare apples to oranges. Believe it or not, there is NO RULE against attacking right away. There are rules against boxers punching each other before the match even starts. And as for me, hell yes I'll bring a gun to a knife fight. I intend on not only walking away from a knife fight, but preferably unharmed. If I bring a gun, my odds go way up.
These are not apples and oranges. You want to bring up there is a "rule" about waiting until both fighters are ready, there is no difference in a game setting. Both players should be ready at the start of the battle. Just because it isnt in black and white doesnt mean it shouldnt exist. Just like the handshake after a hockey series.
As far as the knife fight goes....you provide my case and point. The minute a person brings in a gun is the minute everyone in and around the fight knows they cant handle their business on their own. Therefore, you are a coward. Idiot.

Oh, ye barbarians! You uncouth louts who disdain CC Chivalry!
The 12-hour fog rule is an informal tradition--it's an unspoken yet understood agreement among gentlemen. Dirty, smelly barbarians like A86, rhp, Serbia, and the rest would never understand this tradition because they're obviously dirty, smelly barbarians.
We chivalrous, honorable human beings live to maintain the borders of civilization while you barbarians constantly try to tear down our walls. We strive to improve ourselves with clear victories that enrich our spirits and undoubtedly signal our superior skillz. You barbarians will take any opportunity--no matter how dirty--and will forever be doomed to a false sense of superiority.
Oh, ye barbarians, you have the power to stop debasing yourselves. Take a hot shower, use plenty of soap, and join us at the Table of Justice and Righteousness. Honor the informal 12-hour rule. Let the Light of CC Civilization blind your enemies. It is not too late.

I'd rather be alive and thought a coward than a dead idiot. And really, you'd be dead, so you really wouldn't have an opinion anymore, 'cause you'd be, like, dead. And also, JUST HANDLED BUSINESS, BIYATCH! Idiot.
Also, I laugh at all of you who think I break your precious foggy bitch whine rule. I never have, imbeciles. But I've already told you that.
