Waiting for snaps in fog games and crybabies?
So I am playing uckuki in a tournament, 1 vs 1. Arms Race
Normally in a fog, I let my opponent take a snap if I am going to attack him.
Round starts, and by some stroke of luck, I get first turn in all 5 games.
I go ahead & take my turns, but I only attack neutrals that he can not see. I did not attack him once.
There is no 12 hour fog rule.
He gets all bent out of shape and starts berating me for being such a scum bag for not allowing him a snap.
What am I missing here, he couldn't see what I was doing before or after my turns, so what is the big deal?

I assume you told him that all ready so I would not worry about it.

The fog rule is bullshit, and not enforced unless it's specifically stated as such in the rules of an individual tournament.

The fog rule is not "bullshit" and should be a game setting or automatic rule. It is an undeserved advantage given to the player who moves before his opponent sees the board.

It is bullshit. It's not a rule. If you can't stand someone getting an "unfair advantage" then don't play fog. In many 1v1 games, often the player who goes first can get an "undeserved advantage" just by going first.
I'd support it as a game setting so you whiny types will have one less thing to whine about. But an automatic rule is bullshit.

Anyone that believes that the "fog rule" isn't bullshit and that it's unfair for an opponent to move before the other side has the ability to see the board is a pussy.
The "fog rule" is bullshit and if you are a pussy and you are uncomfortable with the possibility of your opponent moving before you have a chance to take a snapshot then you shouldn’t play fog.

While I don't want to contribute to the inflammatory language being thrown about in this thread, I do tend to agree that people obsess too much about fog rules and snaps.
I do like to get a snap, and if it's a tournament game I usually offer a snaps agreement to my opponent. However, if he declines, I don't lose any sleep over it.

I don't use the panel thing, but doesn't it offer autosnaps?
I disagree with DF on this one. The one who runs to immediately take their turn after joining second is the bigger pussy chicken. They are afraid that their opponent will get a look at the board. That's chicken tactics.
However, I don't cry over not being able to get a snap. I like to be able to see the board, but if the other player doesn't want to allow it, well... then I know not to wait 12 hours if I join his/her games.
It's not a rule. It's just a polite agreement among players who are mostly in clans. It's the nice thing to do.
The OP was talking about a specific scenario though. He attacked neutrals that his opponent couldn't see anyway at the start, which he still couldn't see at the end of the turn. His opponent was just being a baby.

nonsense... when someone joins, the game starts.. period.. if you need a snap to play? don't play fog... and no one said anything about "running to immediately take his turn". what if I see the game up, and simply take my turn? gimme a break

Having been on this site for a while the "fog rule" was never recognized, only over time and with the increase in clans has this become something that some players expect.it is B.S. just like freestyle

This is bull shit and
I don't even have BOB loaded in and play almost exclusively fog. I also rarely get 1st go. It's all part of the challenge, mystery and fun of fog.
How about we cry about the bull shit CC pretends is "random' instead. Thats what ruins this site.

Just because you've come to expect something doesn't mean it's rude/cheap/cowardly when what you expect doesn't happen. End of the day, it's a game of war and you want every advantage you can get. In 1v1 and team games I take my turn when it comes and post anything that would have changed from my opponent's point of view.
The only time I wait is for clan games.

Your attempt at humor I hope. That's what I'm going with...
If not? By all means, draw conclusions about my character based on when I take my (within the rules) turn on a gaming site. I'm going with "lol" here.

Character is not something you turn off or on. Your character online is likely, but not definitively, the same character you carry in the normal world. Further, just because something is legal/within the rules does not mean that it does not lack common courtesy or respect.
To be clear: my suggestion of character was directly related to the predicate that showing courtesy is bullshit.

Lou, don't listen to the drivel ( Full Definition of DRIVEL intransitive verb 1 : to let saliva dribble from the mouth : slaver 2 : to talk stupidly and carelessly) we know that we are above this..cmon, I will always let an opponent get a snap, still win though lol
The OP has expressed that he hit neutrals, this is fine and he is pissed that his opponent wanted to cry for no reason
So uckuki grow some!!

Thanks, I shall carry on.
I still maintain that it's bullshit, and I'll explain myself. Back when I used to play games, more than one or two at a time, I never took a turn that had more than 12 hours on it. Even if I was the last to join, and it was a foggy game, I never took my turn right away. Because of this, I was always automatically "courteous". So for that, you can go back to thinking highly of me, and I can feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that you think I'm nice. My comment is directly related to the whiny and pathetic on this site, who treat not getting a snap in a foggy game as a gigantically huge deal. Because the other part of my gameplay was, even when I join a foggy game last, and despite using BOB, I'd NEVER go in and take a snap. I'll use it during the game sometimes, if I felt it was an especially close game and would help, and I'd still get decent results, or at least, results I was comfortable with. Whiny people, those who think it should be an automatic rule, and who abuse others who don't follow this "rule" or call them "less than courteous", are bullshit wankers and should shut up. And again, why bother with fog then? Just play sunny games so you can know exactly what your opponent is doing. Or just grow up, stop being a crybaby, and play the game.
Happier?
Bollocks.
