Re: CC's new look
The site has simply become a farce, I do wonder at times why I came back.
All of the other sites available are far inferior to CC believe it or not momo. There was one I used to play on for a short period, but due to the horrific map design and gameplay - It just wasn't enjoyable. This site has the potential to be something great; it always has. But as with a lot of businesses, they appear to have trouble listening to the consumer.

Re: CC's new look
Clickies working is a big improvement. My main issues now are:
It really isn't that hard to pay a proper web/graphic designer to get these jobs done to a good standard. The homepage, community page and now game page all look shite. There are plenty of people playing this game more than capable of doing a good job, and for a discounted rate I'd bet. Get a grip.
Edit: tournament labels are a mess too. In Game 14570948 it says First Nations North America - Round 1 - Tournament [#14570948] with "Tournament" providing a link to the tournament, which is actually called Conquer Club Map Draft.
Edit #2: scores are not updated properly once a game is finished. See Game 14529699. I was on 2295 before winning this game, and I am now on 2312, but the game hasn't registered this.
I may have jumped the gun at first, and have now decided I can live with these changes, but there undoubtedly needs to be more communication from the admins with both the mods and players. Otherwise there is going to be uproar every time there is an even slightly major overhaul.
- Games playing slower, especially deploying in 1s
- If you jump to next game, after your next turn you'll just end up at the game you wanted to skip
- The 'later' and 'play' buttons for spoils should be adjacent to each other
- I'm not in a mental hospital, I don't need telling which colour I am
- In general, the aesthetics are terrible, but this is something we're all getting used to with CC

No map bug is very intermittent, it's happened to me twice in a row and then nothing for hours of playing. We are still working to resolve the issue

Re: CC's new look
My main problem with the changes is they seem to make everything clunky and I'm not a fan. Especially the new tabs that you click on for the game information, I liked it when I could just have it all on the screen all the time. I can't speak for mobile users, but for me... this is making me really not enjoy playing as much. The side panel block that shows what color you are? Seems tacky and childish. I like the old thing better and this makes me not want to play anymore.

yeah, i don't get why you would take the stats from underneath the map, hide them and make you click a tab to have them viewed on the side where they are just useless... you could look at the map, see who had what, know who you had to knock down, know the turn order, see the numbers, etc... if you don't use the cheats/add ons, you are boned... i'm glad they made these changes for mobile users, but the site sucks worse on my ipad, kindle fire and iphone... i don't understand the thought process for fucking up the site the way they have... it is just one series of blunders after the other from owner to owner... i freaking miss the hell out of lack... he took a bit too long to make changes, but he let you know what they were and they all made the gameplay better... this is just change for the sake of someone stamping their imprint on the site... it is garbage...-el Jesus negro

you can move any of the tabs in the panel underneath the map so you don't have to click every time to look at it.

To add more, profiles/scores are still broken. I just saw [player]Dukasaur[/player]'s profile and he has 1992 points but is a major.

Re: CC's new look
in general, it's harder to play on mobile after this update. It's the same issue with the new "forum" tab- the buttons are too small and squished in a corner- good buttons are bigger and more spread out. Check any mobile app, like safari.
Re: CC's new look
For all the "don't change for the sake of change" comments, my understanding was that CC membership was gradually going downhill due to a lack of updates (no pun intended
)?
Desired updates were made late last year, in effect implementing suggestions that were in submitted suggs for a number of years (from things like putting up the cc clock on the left, to Poly games)
viewforum.php?f=470
Does anyone think those were not beneficial?
While those updates did perhaps arrest the slide (on which some folks still disagreed, saying the marginal increase in membership was due to multi's), it was insufficient, with the site remaining static at 12,5k members?
Since that was far from sufficient in terms of long-term sustainability, it was decided that something more drastic may be necessary?
Considering the sarcasm from the likes of Gillipig and qwert in the CC is declining thread, around the subject of needing a parachute, I assume they concurred?
Thus, admins decided to prioritise the new joiner experience, where in previous years new recruits always used to offset those that left, allowing the healthier balance of 20k that we were used to, it has dipped in recent times perhaps because of an outdated interface, where a large proportion of new joiners deadbeat games because the site doesn't click, interface is too complex etc?
Again, while I may be somewhat of an insider, I'm far from an expert on the matter, and this is basically my laymans view as the logical sequence of events, with fairly little factual basis.
That being said, does anyone disagree with my points raised, and have suggestions on a more viable strategic direction, since I think we can all agree the status quo never worked? Even if we look back with tinted lenses on the 'good old days' where nothing changed? (taking note that most of the reviews of CC over the ages have always knocked CC down for developer activity, and interface quality)
At the same time I think we can all acknowledge that Community has always been the best facet of CC, and as mentioned in this thread, the site should definitely improve communication to keep users paramount.
Thanks and Regards

however... this made me laugh... the old regime did quite a bit to kill off the moral of the site and the old vibrant community (that will never return... seriously doubt people will ever be as passionate about this site again)... with that being said... i think this is a marvelous post and it should have been made MONTHS AGO before all of this was done... great freaking post... i am not being sarcastic!! i can not tell you how long i have waited to see a post like that in the forums... i truly wish it had been made before all these changes... the black jesus is smiling...-el Jesus negro

Agreed this is very user unfriendly, iPad is basically useless on cc now and CPU is just frustrating.

Something that annoys me is how on my PC, the dice show up in the bottom right corner. Which is fine, except I can't see them when I'm using the site clickies because I'm hovering over a territory and the territory info is showing, covering up the dice.
I can't see any way to move the dice back to the upper right of the screen like they used to be.

I have it set up so that action, log, chat and stats are below the map, everything else is hidden on the side as I don't use those as much.

I do not think this works with the mobile interface anymore as all panels are now on the information page.

Exactly. I've been told that those wearing red are too busy to even let us peons on "Team" CC know about these changes coming. Who knows why they would tell you, the paying premium members ahead of time?

I don't know what these changes are as I stopped playing the risk game, but none of the above surprises me at all...
