I didn't. It's just a stupid point. Whether copyright infringement as defined by law is illegal is beside the point I'm making, also which you've avoided to address in any way outside of law.

Laws change, and gov'ts make laws all the time that are exploitive or take advantage of others for monetary gain.

If this were 150 years ago, would you be prattling on about how slavery is legal, and freeing slaves is theft?

- Company sells product under the terms that it will not be duplicated, because it intends to sell more copies to recover their expenses and hopefully eventually make a profit.

- Purchaser breaks terms and distributes illegal copies.

- TG has no idea how this can be considered unethical and he blames the government

I agree, but what TG is suggesting is pirating the works of artists that are still very much alive.

Yeah. Basically he doesn't respect their efforts and feels they shouldn't be paid for doing their job.

Oh yeah....and it's the government's fault!!!

I think the pirating discussion is one for another thread.

This thread, on the other hand, does seem to be a good place to get a recommendation for a game to play, preferable nothing I have to spend too much money on (or pirate, I guess). If it helps with suggestions, I just finished Metroid Prime and thought it was just kind of ok. Any ideas?

Did you like Secret of Mana or Zelda? Do you like fighting games?

My experience with Secret of Mana consists of a brief rental when I was like, 8. So I dunno. Zelda I enjoy (newest installments notwithstanding). Fighting games are eh. I'd rather have something I can play for at least a few weeks. I tend not to get that from fighting games.

Civ V is one that springs to mind, though Civ V is the worst kind of addiction. Not looking for anything quite so time consuming.

I'm also open to different stuff (again though, cost is a factor).

Hm, well if you like grand strategy, then EU4 is pretty decent game -- I've sunk lots of play hours into the game. It is discounted on Amazon right now for like $12.00: http://www.amazon.com/Europa-Universali ... 00D6K41VA/ There are some DLC and expansions that you can pick up as well probably.

I've also played the new X-Com quite a bit, if you like more tactical turn based squad strategy. It is discounted on Amazon right now for like $10, but if you get it, I suggest getting the Enemy Within expansion since it makes the game a lot more interesting, which would be another like $10. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008ALU5KG

Or if you are looking for some smaller games, keeping an eye on Humble Bundle is usually a pretty good idea.

If you're looking for a recent, old school RPG that won't suck you in for hours, then I recommend:

Chef Boyardee’s Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa

I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Secret of Mana is amazing. Go ahead and emulate it. I own a legal copy, so you can use mine (which I am not playing now).

Nope. Meant that. Got halfway through Phantom Hourglass and gave up after going through the same dungeon for the umpteenth time, and I could tolerate very little of Skyward Sword.

Thanks for lending me your ROM of Secret of Mana.

Also, I noticed Dark Souls was $7 on Steam, so I grabbed it. Once I dual-boot my Mac to Windows, I'll give that a go as well.

Going back to the oldies, M.U.L.E.
Archon, Kennedy approach and Dune.

M.U.L.E. is an old Atari game, four player...Great fun, even still.
Archon is great!
Kennedy approach (totally addictive) is an old Commodore 128 game, If you can beat top level, you should consider becoming an air traffic controller.
Dune is OK.

I always play vs Human (exception, Kennedy approach), never liked playing against the AI.

That means what you said is "newest installments in spite of". It doesn't parse to me. Notwithstanding newest installments would make sense.

I did just double-check myself, but both are correct.

I've been playing Dungeons of Dredmor recently a lot.

It's really fun but a bit too easy for a seasoned rl veteran... They even had to include a "no permadeath" mode on it... for shame...

But other than that it's a hugely fun and addictive game.

I picked that game up a year or two ago. It was pretty fun for a while, and then I felt it got a bit repetitive and I eventually moved onto to other games.

this is a great game from germany, if u like point & click adventure games,
u can find an english version too
but the best was lucasfilm, and when i watch pixar movies, they remind me somehow on lucasfilm, enjoy

the best games where monkey island 1,2 and 3 ( the best of all), maniac mansion, the day of the tentacle,
broken arrow ( a classic i loved to play), the lucasfilm indiana jones games...

edit

for the younger generation,
this one u can play on the Playstation 3
I used to roll the daizz
Feel the fear in my enemy´s eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:

Long live the Army Of Kings !

Anyone picking up wildstar?

I'll probably have a go; seems to have a lot of the elements I like from WoW, GW2 and Eve.

EU4 is discounted on Steam right now, and bunch of the DLC is as well. I've been waiting for the Conquest of Paradise DLC, about the new world, to be discounted -- and it is down to $3.75 which is very reasonable. Today they are also releasing a Wealth of Nations DLC, which is all about controlling privateers and pirates and all sorts of other fun things -- but I might wait until it gets discounted...

EU4 always pulls me back in. I suppose I'll finally play a western European nation now. Ha.

Anyone pickup Age of Wonders 3? It sort of looks interesting. I use to play a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic, and it seems similar to that an Civ a bit.

Mass Effect 3 mulitplayer. Oddly enough, it's still going pretty strong on Xbox and PC (I hear the PS3 version has quite a few issue though).

How is ME3 multiplayer? I just finished the campaign playthrough, and immediately jumped back into ME1, but have going back 8 years to the painful combat system has made it frustrating to try another playthrough, so if multiplayer is any good I'd be tempted to switch over to that.
