Orange Catholic, I assume. Mine has its own magnifier and electrostatic charge system.

I am the new christ!

On which page does it say if it s true or if I m kidding?

I dunno, my obscure Dune references only extend to the original series,

@gweedo: what does "that" refer to?
@notyou2: A Bible that has Both Old & New Testaments. Choice of versions is up to your wants:
New King James has eloquent poetry
New American Standard has closest wording to original manuscript copies
New International Version has closest rendering to modern day way of speaking.
There are many choices, the three above are my favorites. They'll all give you the same concept with occasional variations in synonyms.
@symmetry: does the one claiming to be the Messiah speak harmoniously with Jesus' Words in the Bible (Old & New Testaments). That is how one checks.

I think there was something about sonic weapons in the David Lynch movie. "His name has become a killing word" being one of the more ridiculous lines. Harmonious speaking was definitely a thing.

Are you certain you're not thinking of Dune in this thread?

Oh and we totally agree there. My argument started when koolback who is a 2 striper was "explaining" us stuff about his relative win rate in 5 player games and comparing himself riskwise to chiro as if there was something to compare because chiro plays mostly single opponents/teams and he plays 5 player games. I was saying that no matter what the real index is the points, not the win rate. You just entered the conversation bringing back the win rates on the table, so I first thought that you were somewhat agreeing with his nonesense.
But I ve said all the way that throwing the risk rank to win an argument is as ridiculous as rainman telling you that given that he can count better he will always win an argument against you.
Sure there are big skills involved, but the diversity of skills that forms intelligence is huge and can t be reduced to a few elements, in this case the ones that can make you a risk champion, to apply it to any given thing in life.

The Messiah is already here, walking the earth, right at this moment.

The media won't give him no play though

Oh and my rank is crap, but I did join MENSA. I let the membership lapse several decades ago due to being too busy to do stuff.

The top 250 players are interchangeable, any one of them can beat the other and is worthy of Conqueror. So I don't view myself as mentally superior to any of them. However, it is a patently obvious that the top 250 players have more reasoning skills, more deductive and discerning skills than the bottom 250 players on average. With a sliding scale in between. The top 250 players on the leader board will on average out wit the bottom 250 players in the real world when it comes to discerning, reasoning and deductive abilities. This is unassailable and should be an axiom.
Application to this thread: With such a low rank, don't be so quick to say you are always correct and I'm always wrong, especially when it comes to the Bible. For I know more about the Bible than I know about CC and you probably know less about the Bible than you know about CC.

@notyou2: you are quoting me wrong. I never said I was right about all things. I explicitly said low rank players shouldn't say I'm wrong all the time and they're right all the time. Boy did you botch that quote.

Another sign of the coming Messiah: there will be signs in the Heavens. Such as a blood moon. The last four blood moons have occurred on historical moments in history:
1492 at the time of Columbus discovering America.
1948 Israel becomes a Nation.
1967-68 Israel captures Jerusalem.

There are future blood moons scheduled to occur: this April 2014 & sometime in 2018+/- & 2024+/-

Picked up "Isaac Asimov's Super Quiz" for £4 from a charity shop a few weeks ago. It was made in 1982 and in the US. The many questions about "dirigibles" are amusing. My housemates inability to understand that the Flyers are not an American Football team is frustrating during the sports round. "Robert Redford" is a reliable go to answer during the movie round if you are unfamiliar with Alan Ladd.

Jones, would you say there are any benefits to joining MENSA? I see that they accept GRE scores, but mine are from so long ago that they might not be valid anymore. Plus, too much Dew in grad school probably pickled my brain. =)

Actually, my favourite Asimov books were the non-fiction. There were various "Asimov's guide to..." books for various science areas - now of course they'd be pretty out of date.
I never got a copy of "Asimov's Guide to the Bible", but now that I've thought about it I might try again.

You need to put down the Hal Lindsey books.

Like The 1980's Countdown to Armageddon. That book is 30 years old.

BTW there are blood moons every year, which is the first full moon after the harvest.

You mentioned "no money involved". Well Hal Lindsey writes sensationalism books to prey on the religiously minded. He is getting rich off other people's fear and religion. You may as well join the Westboro Baptist Church.

@degaston: Jesus said that know one knows the Day nor the hour and then followed that with but when you see the fig tree bud it's leaves, you know the harvest is near. We see the signs being fulfilled today, therefore we know the Messiah is near. No one knows the day nor hour, but we can know the season or year? Maybe.

Do not try to see the fig tree bud. That's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth.
What truth?
There is no tree.

People have been seeing the signs and making predictions for over 1500 years. What makes you right about this when every single one of the previous predictions has been wrong? I know you really want this to happen, so you gather some meaningless superstitions and vague prophecies that could be interpreted in any number of ways, and then twist and cherry pick current events until, SURPRISE!, all the signs show that Jesus is coming in your lifetime! What are the odds?! But hey, you can't argue with the facts, right?

If there really was a tree, then you wouldn't need to interpret unrelated natural, political, social, and economic events to try to figure out when the fruit was coming. The tree would be self-evident, and the fruit would come on schedule. But you want to tell everyone that there is a tree (though they can't see it), and even though it hasn't had any fruit for 2000 years, you're sure it will within the next seven... because, Locusts! And then you accuse other people of being illogical if they don't believe you? Because you play CC better than they do?

When previously predicted dates have come and gone, and the predictors are faced with the cognitive dissonance of being so completely sure about something and yet so wrong, they may question their calculations, or the strength of their faith, or say that God changed his plan, but they never question the premise. What are you going to question in 2022 when he still hasn't shown up? Probably not much. Religions have done a great job of surviving by making faith a virtue. Once you get people to believe that, then the more they reject any evidence that contradicts their beliefs, the better their score. Congrats on the high score!

EDIT: The only reason I can think of to even start a thread like this in CC is to work on your faith defense techniques (and increase your score), so I hope this has been useful to you.

A man of secular, rather carnal, leanings can see no tree.

hasn't had any fruit for 2000 years
I beg to differ. Try tasting the fruit; It is taste that gets people's nerves tingling.

What are you going to question in 2022 when he still hasn't shown up
Might question how much more of this the world can endure before the second coming...as in the days of Sodam and Gomorrah.

It matters not when Jesus is coming to those already in the body of Christ (he has already come).
He is here now!
If you happen to see Jesus headed down on a white cloud, It should come as no surprise (those in Christ).
If you are not in the body of Christ Jesus (surprised), you should head for the hills...I have some Caves for sale!
