I like you spockers. you keep it real.

Notice that even in maps made by people we know can make a visually appealing map, when they post a "rough start" people still come in and say visuals need a lot of work. Because we don't know you, until you bring something with a great visual appeal or interesting gameplay people won't respond well to your map at all.

This does not mean you should stop, just be able to realize it's going to take a lot of work. You should take notice of the visuals of the all the latest maps to be final forge or quenched. They are all top notch in their own way. Even the maps that bring interesting gameplay (Age of Merchants for one) have good visuals.

Life the way it is, you're gonna get judged by looks from the start. I realize it's a draft, but you could make the borders thicker and uniform. It is worth the time to start it over. Furthermore, right now you just have 6 areas with almost no connections. Take a good luck at the all the current maps, maps in development and the new XML features to be added soon ( I haven't really looked so I'm not sure what there is).

So while drafts are necessary, until you've shown people here what you can do, you're not going to get support with a draft. You need to put something together that comes closer to final form.

Since your map is a "fantasy" style map (as opposed to being based on a real area of the world) you have to put something unique in terms of visual and gameplay.

Good luck

any map interesting gameplay or not should have good graphics.
having a good gameplay idea is not an excuse for poor graphics. actually nothing is an excuse for poor graphics :D

and on topic.

this map lacks the following 3 key elements:
1. gameplay. the bonuses are screwed connections are few, etc.
2. graphics. well the graphic part simply sucks and it needs a completely new start.
3. feeling. there's no theme, no feeling, there's nothing special about it.

i like maps created from the imagination but they do need something to appeal to the people.

imagine 8 thoughts without the thoughts theme. imagine it was called simply MAP. same gameplay but no feeling. it would have been utter crap.

Looks a lot better than before. Can the islands (little bits off the main continents, right?) attack each other?

Some elements beat others, right? I suggest adding some one-way borders between certain elements.

IDK, for example: Water beats Fire, but then Fire and Water have th same number of countries, but fire has many more borders to defend. I would have to up the bonus for Fire, but I think it would be better for Spirit to be the most important continent in the game.

Seriously, you are wasting your time.

Compare this to any of the maps out there... there is a massive difference in quality, this one just does not, and will not, cut it.

Is this based on anything in particular or is it just made up? I'm not seeing much appeal in the map so far, but that's just me.
