cool.
Not sure I understand what kind of log you are looking for? I run a script that tracks all deployment during the game for each player. Although, it is not working with polymorphic settings

But can you know how the attacks went? Say a player starts to attack 16vs12, quickly he's down to 8vs12, then he recovers and wins it.
I recently played a game against betiko that during a range of rounds turned epic. it helped that we were taking turns in RT for that time. I wish I could revive it again and again. (And hear betiko cry again and again)

It's not always about space, sometimes it is about time.

Some things are easier to implement.

He's referring to a game replay log. Similar to the thing you get when you play one of the games in Sid Meier's Civilization series. At the end of the game you click "replay" and it shows you the history of the growth of your empire on the mini-map.
This suggestion has been made more than 20 times on CC and always rejected on the grounds that it would suck up too much expensive storage space on the server. What nietzche is saying in his passive-aggressive way is that it's a damn shame that there's no room on the server for something that so many of us want to see, and yet it's easy to find room for the new inventory system that most of us couldn't care less about.
To which I would have two answers:
- The suggestion was rejected 20 times during the lackattack years. There's a new sheriff in town, and expectations of what will and won't fly are changing rapidly.
- Even before the changing of the guard, [player]ender516[/player] and [player]agentcom[/player] had already presented a couple of ways this idea could be adopted that are not so filespace-intensive.

So are you willing to perhaps make this script publicly available to the CC community? I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to track their deployment.

I don't know what it does if you get it working, but I downloaded it and couldn't make it work.

Presumably it doesn't work with fog..

It doesn't have to take that much space. It can even be a third party plugin. The thing is saving in the log the events. I bet my ass that with a complete log there would be many people willing to code the plugin.
And regarding space, have you seen how Bob saves "screenshots"? I mean, how a user without Bob sees the screenshots posts by a teammate. Theres a lot of data that can be saved in the space of a single characther. Its a matter of processing this information. In the same space that takes to store this post, a whole game, move by move, attack by attack could be saved. The processing of a replay would take place in the user computer, not in the server.
I think some here call this log 2.0.

Re: Inventory
Why always cry about things we don't have.
Some players (like me) would think saving a detailed log is a total waste, and I would never use it. But if Wham would implent it I won't make a topic saying:
Why is there space for saving detail logs and not for 1001 other suggestions that I like more...

Hey bud, i can let you revive it again and again and again as much as you want. The battle royale made up for all your luck in the balkan peninsula games!
I m pretty sure you would do anything to take the dice luck from all those games and put it in that last roll on round limit!!
Back on topic... Dude i don t even know how they can afford to keep all the logs and game chats of every single game ever played. Do you imagine the space required to keep all that? Maybe a good solution would be to keep it for 2 weeks, then it becomes a "normal" archived game.
Or maybe we could have a personal space a and be able to keep a few games archived. Keeping all games with that much information seems useless.

Do you remember that game I'm talking about? It was the last one I won in balkan. It was fucking epic.
Yeah, I choked in that BR, it's true the dice were ludacris and I was lagging badly, but I should've started to advance earlier leaving 2's behind knowing how much lag I had.
And about the space, say each game takes 10kb to be stored and there are 14million games, that is only 130 GB. That really isn't that much. And I think 10kb per game is too much.

I think it would make for more detailed and interesting strategy discussions that noobs like me could learn from. You may not want to share your knowledge or teach others how to beat you, but I think it would help the site grow. Which would bring in more noobs (and their points.)
I like the idea of only saving the details for a short time.
