Honestly though Gilligan....i just don't see how what you proposed could be done graphically with the size of the surrounding terts.

to me this just seems like it's much easier to not miss the territories. right now they're kind of...nowhere and nothing big to remind you that they are there.

edit: looking at this, i also noticed a typo:
territory "central oromia"
key "dire dawa does not border central oromai"

I don't know. I really hate to say ANY thing negitive about this map because I like it so much. But... if you know what you are doing, with the current configuration it is a cake walk.
Dang. Like I said, I like it so much, but it seems too easy. Not sure what the answer is. Maybe that's the way it should be. I've always been interested in this part of the world and think this map is great. Maybe the outer realms are a bonus? Not sure.
Great job regardless of my thoughts.

i don't agree there is nothing big to remind you...the territories and the "buildings" are clearly labelled and by that associated.
this is the same sort of buildings that are in Bamboo Jack....and as they are now, give the map flavour.
If the numbers were where you have them...there would be no need for the buildings and graphically the map might suffer.
I'll adjust that spelling shortly.

i like this map based on the size and use of imbedded territories but the colour and graphics reminds me of 1960's scool textbooks. i also find that the territory borders have been made needlessly spahgetty like. it doesn't need to be london like straight lines but the over exagerated squigglies detract from the look. some cleaner lines would really improve it overall.

I like the soft colors and friendly feel of this map. I also think it makes really good space of the corners to tuck the cities in: logical and elegant. I also thought the cities were a nice touch, and not the type of twist that makes things unnecessarily confusing.
In my first time playing, I guess my only complaint--if forced to make one--would be that territories that seem like they should connect didn't actually border. I know it has to be that way, because not everything can touch everything, especially on a small map, but I thought S Oromia and SSW Oromia connected, and E Somali and S Somali. That was mostly my own fault, though.

As per the March Challenge here are my feelings,
Thing you like about the map.
MoB Deadly: I the header and I like how the color scheme fits the Flag
Thing you dislike about the map.
MoB Deadly: Dislike the fonts in the Legend and the bottom. The legend fonts are okay, but the fonts in the bottom are very difficult to read

I like this map a lot. It's nice and cozy, not too big, a good size for doubs. Visually, it's appealing, and it's easy to move around the map.
For the negatives, it's vanilla when it comes to gameplay, but I enjoy a nice Classic-style game myself, so it's all good. I can't see this map replacing Doodle Earth or Luxembourg for quick games, but it's a nice option.

Hey guys, while my comments are contest motivated, they are genuine. I love this map. I like that you can play quick games and I like that in quads or poly4 games in particular, there is the potential to hold a bonus without the other player even knowing, because no one is expecting bonus play.
I don't like the fact that the colors are bland and seem to blend together making it difficult to distinguish between the bonuses. I'd like to be able to glance at the map and see clearly defined bonus areas and their boundaries.

Posting for BetaMarch:
I like that while it's a relatively smaller map, there are no gimmie bonuses - thanks to the surrounding country territories and the way the regions are interwoven, it's a challenge to lock anything down from the get-go, and I think that makes the gameplay more fun.
For me on this map, I guess I just personally find the color scheme to not be easy on my eyes... I feel like I am straining any time I am looking at it. I can't decide if it's the particular colors chosen, if it needs some thicker colors around the boarders, or if it's just because there are a lot of relatively bright tones.. but there are not many maps on CC that make me feel this way, so for me there is something off about the color scheme as a whole (I'm not an artist, I don't have any easy fix for this, and it could just be me personally).

Re: [Beta] - Ethiopia [26.8.13] V16 XML Stamped
I like how the map has improved since I commented a year ago viewtopic.php?f=64&t=174289&start=75#p4034273
Especially the flag on top, and the lines at the bottom (and that my comment on external countries not being part of bonuses was incorporated
)
I liked the change in colour & tone, the improvement to the corner images etc.
I liked how rivers don't split external countries in the middle anymore.
I disliked how larger games may end quickly on this map due to the smaller terr. counts, but thats probably inherent with the map.

Re: [Beta] - Ethiopia [26.8.13] V16 XML Stamped
I really like the bright colours of this map. I think they represent Ethiopia well.
I like the fact that the bonuses manage to be easily understandable, even while having some intricacy to them (terts in Oromia not being immediately adjacent to each other.)
I like the small size and the fact that it fits easily on one screen.
The only thing I don't like about this map is that there's no safe little +1 bonus off in a corner somewhere. If one loses the initiative and can't hold a major bonus, one is lost. There's no place to hole up and rebuild for a comeback.

[beta map challenge]
I really enjoyed playing this map, thank you. I think it is a great way to start playing Poly, since it is small.
Nothing I dislike about the map, but since the challenge requires something: i don't like the colours much, the greens remind me of the colours in a paint pallete.
Thank you.
