okay. I think graphics need a lot of work.

Please read the thread. i need feedback on the territory amounts, territory sizes, the continents, the bonuses and things along those lines. Once these things are sorted out i will spend my time on the aestetics.

Have you thought of adding things such as press box, photographers area, ball boys, home and away benches?

Continents for me would be West Stand, East Stand, North Stand, South Stand, Home Team, Away Team, Executive area (which would be directors box, press box, photographers and tunnel).

LMFAO

Seriously though - it's a damn good idea if someone made it properly in photoshop.

That's why the sub-title is "Earth: 200 Million Years Ago". I realize its not a true pangea, I don't think that would be very fun to play or even that playable. (see the other failed attempts).

I like it maybe an extra attack route or two would be good. Like the Bronx to E Queens. Look forward to seeing the finished result.

You never have a good opinion about anything, anyway...

About this idea. Yea it's a good idea, but you have to be careful so it doesn't become too repetitive. If you can use a lot of creativity, I think you can pull off a great map.

I think the idea of a mall could be great.. especially if you're creative enough.. Especially when it comes to naming stores.. That could have a humorous outcome if you're funny. As well, you could grant a bonous for monopolizing a certain buisness spread throught the map(such as coffee shops and pretzle shops).. The way I would see it is that every store is connected to the halls forming several sections of the mall and holding all the shops in the section, as well as the adjacent halls, would be a continent.(Although, unless there was some sort of connections between shops there could be some issues as far as playability goes).. Thats for the smaller stores. Now the larger ones could be a continent in themselves, divided into departments(Mens, womens, plus size womens).. And then a food court and parking garage too.. And maybe the surrounding parking lots and/or street to ease playability a bit instead of confining it to the halls where gameplay could be cramped and cause possible bottlenecking..
Thats my idea.. If anyone is interested, go ahead.. I may make an attempt myself.

Enough already. "I might make an attempt... I'll give it a go..." I couldn't stand it anymore. We need a picture if we're gonna discuss.

This is a map based on a local mall and I doctored it up and superimposed different parts next to eachother. This is without a second floor that I talked about (which could be it's own continent since it's relatively less accessible). It looks like shit on purpose.

Now I don't really have to time to make another map (unless this becomes more popular than my France attempt), but here's something to base any further discussion on.

in addition to some of Evil Pope's ideas you could add a A B C D section of the parking lot

and maybe a toll booth type think

I live in the top right, purple if you will.

Medina county w00t w00t :-) haha

so yeah i wanna play this map... why do maps have to be interesting to all for them to be added to the site? if you don't like you just don't play it, but others such as me may want to play my home-state.

my thoughts...

Maybe one or two more lands to the west of the Hudson to include another tunnel or the GW Bridge.... and add the Broklyn Bridge as a route from Manhattan to Brooklyn. That should also make the +5 for Manhattan more reasonable.

Kingwaffles - great idea, great map. I don't care so much about the graphics, and I think it's too crowded for landmarks to go in there... Maybe just jazz up the colors a tad, like the San Francisco map.

Here are my suggestions (putting new territories in bold) :

1) Yes, add northern NJ territories - I'd suggest:
Weehawken above Hoboken
Secaucus (or Meadowlands) behind Weehawken
Teterboro above Meadowlands
up the river from Weehawken (in order), West New York, Edgewater, and Fort Lee
Teaneck behind Fort Lee
Maybe even Hackensack behind Teaneck and above Teterboro.

1a) Perhaps divide Harlem into Harlem & Washington Heights?
1b) Perhaps divide Jamaicabay into JBay, Far Rockaway, and Breezy Point
1c) Perhaps divide Ridgewood into Ridgewood & Kew Gardens

2) Add in all of the bridges and tunnels:
Lincoln btwn Weehawken & Midtown
GWB btwn Fort Lee & Harlem
Whitestone/Throgs Nect btwn Unionport & Flushing
Cross-Bay Br connecting Jamaicabay and one of the Rockaways
Marine Pkwy Br, connecting East Flatbush & Breezy Point

3) Rename East Flatbush to Canarsie
Rename Dyker Hts to Bay Ridge
Rename Windsor Terrace either Gowanus, Park Slope, or Red Hook. Maybe make Red Hook its own territory?

4) Make the three territories of Jamaicabay, Far Rockaway & Breezy Point their own region, with a minimal bonus.

5) Adjust all of the bonuses per the formula that someone posted earlier.

6) Orient the map up a little bit, so you have more blue water space to put the legend on the bottom.

I know that's way more than you were looking for, but opinions are free, and take them for what they're worth (nothing :) ). Hope it helps. Looks great so far!

Once I learn how to do maps, I am going to try to recreate the NYC Taxi map of Manhattan as a board.

Best,
Joe

I did yes, however with its current layout it has 60 territories which is an ideal number for playing. Also the names of the contients, the top and bottom areas are not stands but are private boxes so they would be named Box Stand One or something along those lines.

I WILL START WORK ON THE NEXT DRAFT SHORTLY, I HAD EXAMS ALL LAST WEEK SO WAS BUSY STUDYING.

well, given enough time I can figure out the nuances of photoshop that I learned a few years ago, right now I'm just putzing around with it. Although, I might never get to the edge that people are with with maps like the "Great Lakes" region, so if this map continues to get the best of me, I'll probably put it in the "Map Ideas" thread.
