luck rally is a son of b^tch in this game, but it's also very inconsistent. i went a few games with horrible luck recently... but right now my luck is great. i dunno. it's frustrating.

3v2 should never be used unless you are making a desperate attempt. Say you are losing and you have a 3v2 against a bonus where taking that bonus could put you back in the game, it's probably necessary to use it in that case. Otherwise, don't do it at all. It's suicide lol.


@ Berlin: I will agree on the luck thing being crazy though. Sometimes I can go for a couple of weeks getting shitty rolls at critical moments, then it turns on it's head and I get 2 weeks of awesome dice. It's a pain in the butt.

So wait, a 100vs2 should never be used because the defender has two dice? This is dice odds. You are never going to play a game where you never attack a terit with two defenders.

me thinks, he thinks you are speaking not troops but 3 dices vs 2 dices thing...
well, what shannon says is, 3 units vs 2 units (not 3 dices vs 2 dices)...

Yeah, I dunno. I mean it's pretty dumb to think that a player that is any good at all would be talking about 3v2 dice in this scenerio. The newbie was definitely talking about 3v2 units, which would explain his 11% win percentage. Was trying to help him out with that.

...and that probably has a lot to do with playing team games though, because generally you have more to attack with. Just a guess Until recently, I didn't understand most of that stuff having never played the board game and not playing here at all for most of my cc membership. lol.

Best way to pay luck is DONT get involved with it or minimise your encounters with it. Stack more and attack less. Let the others test Lady Luck much more than you.

Here are soem rules of thumb on how to play the odds in attacking

2. We urge winning attacks on the opposition - taking the tert AND/OR losing less armies than we take from the opposition.

3. Any tert you hold with 4 or more armies on it, that is adjacent to an enemy tert, should attack the enemy tert, or have a good reason why not.

4, We favour "soft attacks", stopping when down to 3 armies, unless there is some really good reason to keep going.

Sometimes its necessary or prudent to attack with less than good odds, for instance if you have 20 armies adjacent to my bonus and I know you are attacking me with it next turn I'll attack with my 10, just to get the better odds of attacking, but I'll stop when I have 3 left.

Another scenario a 2 for 1. You have 15 territories. I can attack you 3v1. The odds of winning a 3v1 are reasonable, but by killing your one army, I essentially kill since by taking that territory you will drop 4 rather than 5.

I can go on, but the key to any of this is simple - know the situation you are in and act accordingly. Almost any good player on this game does these things and more and when I see an opponent do those things I know I am in for a real battle.
