Just to give you an idea of what I meant... I typed it out a few times just in words but it didn't really make sense so I just posted images. I'll delete them if you're bothered, it really isn't an issue.

I do not have much time to comment on this map at the moment, however I would like to say a couple of things.
The graphics and map design look solid, however please do simplify that legend. The legend is too complicated and I personally I do not play Siege because of all those different bonus combinations which are way too complicated.
I would like to see the legend for this one simplified since it is looking like it could be a great map. Give it some thought mibi...

I view both Siege and this map (mainly this map) as a sort of dividing line between two types of Conquer Club. There is the simple, classic game play that we see in the earlier maps. Then there will be these new maps that require you to think and use some hardcore strategy.
I am more than excited.
I do think that the top portion of the map is a little lackluster as compared to the brilliant detail of the bottom section. But hey, who's complaining... (oh wait, everybody)

a few people have talked about the graphics top portion of the map. here is what mibi said when he first posted the top portion

First I must say that it is not in its finished state, I still have to juggle stuff around and make it look better, but i wanted to throw it out there.
people complain oh put the whole thing out there. then when he does and says it's not finished they complain it doesn't look good.

I'm assuming that the arrows/lines above the heroes are one way attacks? I would get rid of at least one of them because the crossing arrows and parallel lines makes that area look like a mess. Much more confusing than it needs to be.
Also, I would like to see all of the bonus numbers lying in a line parallel to the top of the columns they are above. You currently have each number an equal spacing behind the god/hero's name, which makes things look messy since the names are different lengths. This is similar to your complaint to lack about the map images on the game finder page. If they were organized into left justified columns instead of being spaced based on the length of the names everything would look much better.
I like your thoughts about the battle with the gods and they way it will play out. I also like the idea of more complicated maps (which is inevitable with the XML changes). But I must say that having a very complicated map AND a tall map at once is bad. If you have to scroll up and down just to see the whole map it will be much worse when you have to scroll to check the legend all the time because the map is not straight forward. I don't know how you can fix this problem, or if you will even try, but until clickable maps exist very tall images will be more of a hassel than they are worth IMO. That is made even worse by your system of labeling countries with numbers so you have to look at the legend each time after reading the country number. With the legend at the top and the country selection at the bottom, I think this map will be horrific to play it it remains this tall.

You might be right about the length issue, but I'm not sure what can be done about that. I can, however, promise you that we'll be attempting to have names instead of numbers for as much of the map as physically possible. Unless mibi changed his mind about that, in which case we will probably be arguing for a while.

It's nice to finally see the whole thing, and I really like the concept. However, I do have some concerns. The first is the map height. The recommended maximum height for a map is 600 pixels... your map comes in at over 2.5 times that size. I understand why it is this way, but I think it is a serious problem. It's a matter that will need some discusion between Andy and myself, but my feeling is the map just isn't practical.
A smaller concern perhaps, but related to the top part of the image is how it will cope with numbers on the small version.
Onto the actual map part... when posting the map in bits and pieces it all looked great, but now that the jigsaw has been put together I don't feel it meshes too well. I think the continent dividers ruin the look of the map for a start. I also wonder if it would make more sense for territories within a continent to be of similar shades of colour with each other and there being more distinction in colour between the actual continents.
Lastly, the mountains are impassable right? I would perhaps consider getting rid of them because they don't seem to have any particular gameplay purpose and I don't think people will automatically recognise that they're impassable.

Certainly looks like an interesting idea. Just a couple of suggestions for the other God powers. If I remember rightly Apollo was on Troy's side during the war and Athena on the Greek's, so maybe you could have Apollo able to attack the Greek heroes and Athena the Trojans'. Might make it a little confusing I suppose but you could do something with colours perhaps to distinguish between them. Don't know about Hephaestus. Probably more Greek inclined than Trojan but not really for them either. There was a myth where he chained Hera to a bed once and she couldn't escape though so perhaps an ability to attack Hera could be used, particularly since she can only be attacked from the altars at the moment.
Latinised names look good to me. Direct transliteration might be fine for obscure names that only crop up every now and then but even most classical scholars wouldn't spell any of the more common names in the Iliad in any other form than the Latinised version.

I actually like that a lot.

map looks great to me and i didnt understand it at first but now i do but there are only a couple suggestions i might add
1. i think that the oceans are neat but with a +9 bonus you oculd do some damage. you could isolate yourself in the ships quickely taking posiedon and then taking the oceans if i added right thats 15 armies more then most folks will ever get.
2. do you need to control the whole podium to recieve the bonus or do you just need one territory there or just the white?
3. THETROJANWAR
looks nice and all but maybe you could center it and put it in the middle were "the legend is not done mkay"
it could clear some space
4. i definently think that you need to color coordinate the legend because not every here as you see is super smart and most dont feel like taking a minute out of there day to read but insist on leaving pointless posts.
5."or ship one way" do you mean that only the ocean can attack the ships? if so great if not i would think about changing it.. never heard of ships destroying the ocean.
6. the mountains if its inpassable its an easy fix just make all of the top white
7.i dont understand why zeus and hermes are such small bonuses it seems small
8.what can attack any of ______(oceans, heroes ETC.) can any territory on the podium attack where the legend says it can or can only the top block of the podium? you may need to state this in the legend.
im not map expert but hopefully these ideas gave you some suggestions and i know your not done with the map/legend either but take your time no rush at all.. and GOOD LUCK

First I must say that it is not in its finished state, I still have to juggle stuff around and make it look better, but i wanted to throw it out there.
so read the rules. basically, the continent bonuses are relatively small, i might make them smaller, so to get an advantage you need to have a hero on your side, or two. once you have a hero or two you might be able to 'sacrifice' enough men to the other realm and win the favor of the gods. then your on a rolls. but the the gods and hero's are non-deployable, meaning that you wont be able to place 10 armies from a cashed set right on zeus, you will need to conquer from the bottom up, pay your dues in blood.
the biggest problem this creates is that once you are eliminated from the mortal realm, your done! the soul cannot live without the body, so you can't deploy anywhere. of course if you have no armies in the terrestrial relm then your pretty much dead anyways. but im not sure how it would actually work in the game.
the god bonuses are cool because they reflect the actual gods. zeus is king, hades is lord of the underworld, posiedon rules the seas, ares has no extra bonus because he just gets a ton of armies for being the god of war, and hermes is the messanger. I couldnt think of appropriate bonuses for the other gods, maybe some of the new xml can be a factor.
anyways, there is much to discuss...
oh and the territories are not named yet.
im assuming the squares on the map are barraks? and the dotted circles are altars?

and by the way, by gods, seas, and heroes are undeployable, do you mean, u cant deploy armies on them? then how do u get the whole podium
