First things first, those unfamiliar with the classic game, you can check this out.
Overview
16 Players will be randomly play 2 different players on separate game boards (i.e. playing a tic-tac-toe game against 2 different players) and collect points based on the game result. Half the field gets eliminated every round until there is one player left.
Game mechanics
On each game board, the first player must choose a square and a map. This player will play with X, the second player playing with O. Winner of the game gets to place their symbol on the chosen square. The second player then gets to choose a square and a map with the same mechanics. The first player to reach 3-in-a-row gains 3 points and the loser gets 0 points. In case of draw, players each get 1 point.
Note
No map can be chosen more than once per game board (but can be repeated on other boards and in other rounds.
All players will be going first on one board and second on another.
Once all match-ups are complete, the players with the most points (top half of standings) move on to the next round and all others are eliminated. Points reset after every round. Note that, for the first round only, more than half the field may move on depending on the number of sign-ups.

[spoiler=Tiebreaker]Ties, if needed to be resolved for advancement, will be determined by :
- Fewest individual game losses
- Percentage of individual games wins on "away" maps (number of "away" wins / number of "away" games)
- Percentage of individual games wins on "home" maps (number of "home" wins / number of "home" games)
- Game on Classic with same settings between all players involved in tie with finish order determining remaining spots
