How I'd do the bonuses:

Yellow: 2
Cyan: 2
Green: 3
Blue: 4-5, not sure
Purple: 2-3, depends on if river is impassable
Red: 2

However, I think you should definitely add some more territories so there's not as many "Australias" (really small continents).

I thought about that, but first of all its someone else's idea and I don't want to steal it, and also New York is WAY bigger than San Francisco so it would be much harder to get a picture that encompasses all of it and still has all the cool details.

Particularly, The Bronx.

With the Bronx, If you hold it, all you have to do is take Harlem and East Harlem, and you only have 2 border countries. I'd suggest knocking this down a bit, like a 4.

Yeah, I missed that originally. 4 sounds good to me. What others don't seem to work?

1. It's an octagon.

2. It's an octagonal block.

Anyway, I'm on the fence about this map now, but the updates people have suggested will definitely improve it.

octagon whatever

octoganal block hmmm seems fishy to me

Try the forumla:

Bonus = [Total Territories + Border Territories] / 2.5

For the Bronx, use 4.

(There is wiggle room with that forumla though. For example, West Queens comes out at 4, but because its right in the middle of the map, 5 might be better.)

I'm working on a Star Wars map. I posted a draft of it earlier back somewhere. I was doing one of the galaxy though. I'm not sure if more than one map from the same universe will pass through, but if you would like to do a ground battle one, that would be cool. I hit an unexpected snag when I moved back to my parents house and got trapped with dial-up, but I'm still making some progress.

the citadel is worth too much...

you could start out in there and get the biggest unfair advantage unless you start it as a neutral anytime, either way owning just one place and having it worth 5 is too much sorry...

and its too much like circus maximus, its a good idea but... i wouldn't play it sorry...

I'm not sure about this idea...it doesn't have any appeal to me.

Andy keeps that ready to copy paste into all the new maps.

xsnlrocks21x wrote:speaking of names, what is with them? the names should be related to the theme, but these are like...i don't even know...greek names?

They all seem to be related to geometry or mathematicians who contributed to the field, so they do keep to the theme. However, a few of them seem to be nothing more than mutilations of actual geometry terms intended to match other Greek origin words on the map, something that doesn't seem to fit.

New Map

This is more along the lines of what my original vision was.

I don't know what I want the bonuses to be yet, but I had a few ideas to make the map more unique.

#1 The cars in the parking lot have a corresponding color inside the store, as253504 and I think that there should be a +1 (maybe 2) bonus if you can hold your territory and the same colored car.

#2 The slightly darker green section (The section devoted to people) could possibly have a +8 or 10 bonus because of the fact that three of the territories are not connected to the main part of the territory.

The map, at the moment has 60 territories, so that puts it slightly larger than the average map. Any new opinions would be great!

Sorry, that was overly harsh. But really, I really don't like the whole concept of the map. It just seems kind of dumb.

no no no! You just went and ruined a great comment.

Don't listen to yourself... it's barf territory.

That'll come eventually. Just let me get the map layout perfect before I start doing more graphics stuff.
Does anyone have thoughts about adding more countries in New Jersey where the key is right now?

I wouldn't mind if you added more territories where the legend is right now. Just don't fiddle around too much with what you have already.

I'd like it if the map was somewhat expanded, as to show the entirety of Manhattan, but it appears that this would be an unpopular idea.

Still, I like it. Keep it up!

I like the thought of a Department Store map.

Can you pull it off, tho?

While the idea may be sound, you really need to be careful that it doesn't become just a series of isles and blocks. What normally happens on these small scale maps is that there everything meets at right angles and there are only two entrances to every region. If it is going to be any fun at all, it has to have a more interesting geography than most Wal-mart style superstores. Maybe think more along the lines of a department store.

Personally, I think just the idea of a mall with parking lots and multiple floors to be the direction to take this idea. But that's just me. Bang out a draft and we'll see.
