I don't think it's his fist.

as a TO i've noticed my tournaments take longer to fill. it's partly because KISS is moving through some less popular maps but mostly it's because many of the regulars have moved on.
I joined CC back in high school and was very active for about 2-3 years before I was no longer able to keep up and slowly I lost interest all together. The one thing that kept me from completly forgetting about this site was the forum and the amazing and colorful individuals that keep it alive, but some of those individuals are no longer here and as the site loses those gravitating members it also loses it prestige. One thing that I noticed on the forum was the policy of ending heated arguments by locking threads. There's nothing wrong with this type of moderation however the individuals that would get in heated debate are also the passionate individual that kept this place fun. It also created an atmosphere of individuals feeling as if they were being singled out by mods.
I thinking the biggest challenge is how to keep users interested? How do we help NR stay interested?

12122!
yep, its true
It begs the question of what can be done to change the ongoing downfall? How does a game like this expand its footprint when so many of today's younger generation want speed and action in their games and strategy games are dying a slow death...
I think that strategy games are far from dying. Look at Paradox, Stardock, the Total War series, or Firaxis. Even not flashy games like Conquer Club have a pretty decent market niche. Where else can you play a casual war game against skilled players?
IMHO, which is solely based on my experience and could be wrong, the biggest reason for CC decay was not caring about its community. That's why I think that reconsidering permabans is a very good thing. Also, the open attitude of the new owner has a lot of promise. He is far more open than most people in the suggestions forum, who seem to find pleasure in destroying every single suggestion just because it does not fit their way of playing.
We have to also look at the fact that the number of active players via the scoreboard is 30 days old, so still reflects on the previous ownership. It will be interesting to look at the numbers in November/December.
catstevens: you are now an honorary American TG...Congrats

Possibly with a very clear message that this is an adult site. Not a porn site. An adult site, used by adults. Tinky winky, laa poopsiekins and other muppets should know when reading the advertising that this is a site where users have freedom to express themselves and even use course language. A selling point that will appeal to some who hate sites where PC has gone mad.

Will be interesting to see how they would go about advertising and who their target audience would be? I, for one, would hate to see this site decline...

It would be nice to see even one day when the number went UP.

I think it be interesting once quints and sexts games were up to reach for the admin to send an email to all registered addresses. I'd have to believe that 12 player games, with 5v5 and 6v6 might bring back some of the inactive members.
taking a break from cc, will be back sometime in the future.

I know that's very personal, but the reason why I am still here is because of the trench setting. For my particular taste, trench is way more enjoyable than non-trench. Maybe other people leave because they were not so lucky and never got their trench implemented.
