Should there be a map Makers Hall of Fame?

Post by ViperOverLord »

I don't necessarily mean an HOF in the sense of nominating and inducting people; though that would be interesting. I mean a tab like they have for the tournaments, in which the winners/orgranizers are listed.

It'd be cool to have a thread that listed the map makers and their maps created if nothing else.

I Agree

Whatever works... This should be done. And include a link to a list of all of their maps :)

I believe something like this is in the works. A map gallery with contributions.

I do not think their should be a map maker's hall of fame - mostly because the standards of map designs keep rising - and the available options might increase.. Therefore what might get an award today would not maintain it's status a few years from now - so why build a record of what was once a good map?

Instead - after ever time a map is played and the game finishes - each map should be able to be rated just like players are...
This way maps that have 90% plus could be called Featured Maps or Award Winning maps and be highlighted some how - but as times change and better maps come available the average rating of the old maps might slowly drop - removing them from the featured map list.... As newer and better ones slowly take over...

I understand your point. But, the map maker HOF would just measure maps created. It wouldn't be any value judgment based upon quality. Just as it the tournament HOF does not measure quality of tournaments. It just lists the map makers and then people can click the names to see maps made and they can make their own value judgments upon the quality.

Perhaps you like that concept and object to the term HOF? I can understand that. If you came up with a better term, then it could be applied to the Map Makers and Tournament winners/organizers.

The only thing that would even qualify for this now would be this.
http://www.conquerclub.com/public.php?m ... s2&medal=1
It is the medals page that show who has map medals. It is very basic compared to the tournament one as it does not list maps made by each person or even the reason why the medal was given (map or xml).

2012 and 2013 had the map awards so that could be formed into a hall of fame of sorts.

thenobodies started his map gallery and it has been promised to have this integrated into the site better so that also might become one.

You hit 30. That's a medal counter and medals stop at 30. I'm guessing you're not that vain after all and didn't notice that the medals stopped racking up.

In case anyone was curious about this, it can be found here, Map Foundry Gallery. It should definitely be updated, upgraded, and integrated better into the site.
