Reccomendation Roundup #1

So... going down the list....

those army circles will have to be bigger.

-...done.

wow a first time map that does not entirely suck.

-thanks... I think.

I think you should get rid of those boat routes or whatever they are. It would be better to adjust the territory borders than have these in.

-I really like the sea routes, but I took some of this into account. I added more territories in between sea routes to make them more useful.

Hey looks real, I mean astonishingly good I would just drop red bonus down to 8, 9 sounds like too much, yeah I know each is a chokepoint but still 9 is a lot.

-Agreed. A couple luccky starting territories could screw it up real quick.

I would change the impasswible borders...

-I'm working on the impassable border thing. I'm trying to create good mountains without yanking somebody else's.

and align the numbers better on the legend.

-...done.

You need more territories than 28. Try 30 or 36.

-I liked the idea of a smaller map, but I bumped it all the way up to 36 anyway.

first off the army circles are too small and and aren't actually round for some reason o.0 also i'd get rid of the drop shaddow on them.

-I had a couple special effects on the army circles that may have left them a little wierd. I re-did them completely.

also the yellow territory the ship route goes to is very small...

-...done.

the impassible borders look a little dodgy, you should defenitely change the mountains and the top left river mergers with the blue continent a bit, easiest way to change that is to just make the purple continent that blue colour and the blue continent purple.

-As I said I don't like the impassible borders in their current state either. I tried recoloring it earlier, but it just didn't look right for some reason. It was just too dark in the bottom or something. I couldn't put my finger on it, but when I tried switching colors before it didn't look as good. I may redo it later.

While your map is very good, I do have a problem with the legend font that you use in the reworked map. The font in the earlier version is a bit easier on the eyes. Thank you, and keep up the good work!

We still don't have a full URL. If we had that, one of us could post it. Sadly, http://www.mg180/9558/conquerclubmapdonotdelekd6.com is nowhere near a viable address. I tried googling the name of your map but it was nowhere to be seen.

the image is hosted on imageshack but the url is incomplete it should be something like this

from the partial link we have

Code: Select all

www.mg180/9558/conquerclubmapdonotdelekd6.com

we can complete the url like this:

Code: Select all

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/9558/conquerclubmapdonotdelekd6.com

but we don't know the extension. i tried jpg or png or gif but nothing appeared. maybe the name is not complete

The map looks really crowded, and the direction of the text isn't really consistent. Looks like there's little to no space for troop numbers in some territories. Graphics will also need to be improved a lot... And having a full No Crossing border in a single continent is a rather bad idea :S Where's the bonus legend btw?

i guess it's a fantasy map from your imagination. find a theme.
get rid of the 4-way borders.
choose better colours.
save it at a higher quality

Pangea (Earth: 200 Million B.C.)

PANGEA

Obviously, I'm extremely early in the developmental stage, but I wanted to see if there was interested or if anyone has done a map like this, before I go ahead and get to work.

This map is of earth close to 200 million years ago. I plan on including every territory on the classic Risk map, though some continents are obviously altered.

What do you think of the concept?

Also, I'm pretty much a noob at Photoshop, but it is what I'll be using to finish the rest of the map. I might have to post questions I have about it here.

You think? I am thinking the novelty of shifted countries/continents and different attack routes would be enough to make it interesting and fun to play.

I'd like to hear others thoughts on this as well.

Well, I'm obviously adding more territories. Why would you say unplayable? Its barely started?

And what would make it more playable? I hate the giant lump landmass, so I'll make strategic "isthmuses" over the channels and seas.

Also, I've looked over all the other "Pangea" type maps, and this one seems quite different. Maybe its not different enough from the Classic map though...
